Going back to our benefits discussion the other week, Jobseeker's Allowance also counts towards your personal allowance for income tax. Eighteen months later and they have finally finished collecting the tax I owed them from that three-month period (🙄) and my tax code is back to normal, so even after the NI increase this month I only had an extra £2 deducted overall. At some point this weekend I want to sort out claiming the difference on my mileage, although I must admit I have very little appetite for my tax code to be altered again (even if it is in my favour!). Must put big-girl pants on!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

South_coast said:Bank switching, however.... You and Ed are totally right, I really should look into that again. I've also NEVER investigated matched betting. I am hereby putting both of these on my to-do list and will report back at the end of the month 👍!
Matched betting:
I've had a good read up about it and I'm pretty sure I understand the concept, but I just don't have the headspace for it at the moment, so I'm sticking a pin in that for now
Bank switching:
First switch completed yesterday (to RBS, as recommended by CM), so £150 should be with me within the next 6 weeks. I'll be setting the second switch going (from donor account #1) next weekend, so this is a "yes" from me, although not sure how long I'll keep it going. Thanks for the nudges 😀👍!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

I'm not 100% that you even own a plate. Just bowls!
Sometimes we miss out on some of the nicest things just because they are close to us.2 -

I like a good bowl for eating in - we have some large shallow bowls in our Denby set (I think they are marketed as pasta bowls) - they are good for things like cottage pie, cormed beef hash, curries, noodle dishes (we have noodle bowls but I prefer wide amd shallow to the deep noodle bowls), etc - they get used an awful lot in our house, thinking about it...I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £207 -
Ah, now I only have one type of bowl, but there is only one of me and I have very limited cupboard space!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

First of the month round-up....
Movement during April 2022: -£1,876.54
Money needed as at 1 May 2022: £269,094.33
Not a good month! Serves me right for being pleased with last months +£2,231.89, as everything which is invested in the stock market has fallen. In fact, the only reason it wasn't worse is that my cash balance (either in the LISA, or set aside for the LISA) has gone up, so I guess that underlines the importance of having at least some cash! It may be eroded by inflation (although hopefully not by the 25% the Govt are going to add to it 😳), but at least it doesn't completely disappear!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Our pasta bowls are from Ikea and we find them very versatile.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
