I've just realised that I'm guilty of talking about the Roman empire the other day. Was complaining to DD1 about the state of a road and pointed out that there are still Roman roads and bridges in use in Europe. In fairness, she loves a wee bit of history

I never think about the Roman empire unless I am near Southwark Cathedral or south of the river where I then regale my friends on weird Roman festivals - some too racy for MSE.....DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
