@TC77 I am in maintenance mode have been for a good few years now after being on the Marie Kondo thread, I love my tidy home and am addicted to throwing away now. My family all laugh when I say I have thrown something away as they reckon there’s nothing left for me to throw away. I can dust , Hoover /mop and wipe down in less than an half an hour.I also have the urge in other people’s houses to tidy ! My Tv remote is usually at the side of me if the tv is on otherwise when I turn it off at night I put it next to the tv on the stand.
All the post gets sorted at the door , very rarely is it something that needs keeping, appointments get put straight on calendar,I have online bills, junk mail straight into bin. @MrsSD I have toyed with the idea of getting rid of my kitchen bin. As I tend to head straight to the outside bin with any recycling, my bins are just down the side of the house. It’s easier for me being on my own, as I have a place for everything and I always put it back, I realize in a busy multi person house it’s getting others on board too. But I did find my late DH did pick up the habits I put in place.
I use questions whilst shopping to stop me buying things. Such as where are you going to put it? Is it really a bargain if you don’t really need it! I know some people on these threads use charity shops and get some bargains but if it’s just being bought because of that and it’s not a required purchase, it’s another item needing space in your home. The best solution is to have a list of items you need e.g. a Black jumper , then if you see one you can allow yourself to buy it otherwise keep your purse firmly shut.
There was a lady on the other thread that used to have a system to use up clothing /items, so if she had 6 hand towels she would just rotate 2 , until they were worn out then replace with 1 from the remaining 4. This works well with socks!!We all used to love having a Kondo folded underwear drawer, then we could open the drawer and look how neat and inspiring it was to continue 😉😍Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.14 -

@justmum89 oh well done, lovely choice of items. I’ve got an African violet to remind me of my Nan. It’s growing well and makes me smile whenever I look at it , as she always had a row of them on her kitchen windowsill. 😀

A -ve test today, so fingers crossed for tomorrow, so I can leave my bedroom again 😃
Had a very busy day yesterday, my bed was completely covered with papers, & bags of things. It was 2' high in places! Managed to clear it before 6pm so that I had somewhere to sit to eat my tea. Putting lots of like with like, so I can now see what I've got. Lots of filing to be done, but it's all in near boxes, so can do a box at a time at my leisure.

Marpau - re-Scottish Family History. I mix 3 sites - ScotlandsPeople, familysearch.org, and Ancestry.com. ScotlandsPeople is where you will need to get most of the original documents (They claim a copyright on the documents). It will get you the fastest access to records. Familysearch.org is a free site by the Mormon Church - but they have many of the parish registers on film as well as the census records. They have the indexes to many cemetery records and parish records also, plus in the wiki section they have good instructions for what is available and how to access the records. Ancestry.com has indexes for the census records but not the actual copies, but there are a lot of family histories on there. Findmypast is also putting a lot of records on their site. Good luck with your research.11
