Nothin major to report, been v busy and tired this week- why I thought it was a good idea to sign up to dance classes three nights in a row I have no idea! 🤣* Used up- 2 x Body Shop fragrance oils for my oil burner. Had these two a hundred years as I dont love the smell of them, but now they are gone. Two more I dont love to use up, and then I can buy the lemongrass one I love!* recycled- 2 x old sports bras that have had it, and an old bath mat n pedestal mat that were hogging up cupboard space- finally gone, yay!* binned- 2 x old flat lumpy pillows. Loads of ancient flour from the cupboard that was ridiculously out of date cos I dont bake much anymore.IN* succulent and cactus soil- so I can pot up a few cuttings and refresh a few others. I had a voucher for Christmas, so this didnt cost me anythin. Also ordered some gravel arriving to top the pots with, but it hasnt arrived yet. Also with the voucher.*belated birthday present- Dishoom cookbook and chilli powder- yum, looking forward to making some curries from here!* a black dress that I shouldnt have bought and my vain !!!!!! self ordered a size too small- well done Clutterbug. Got to return that this week now. Boo.Jan Grocery Challenge 2023: £181.18/£400

wort said:To the newbies, a tip from the Marie Kondo way was to declutter by category starting with things you aren’t too attached to.She suggests getting everything from all round the house of one category, say you are doing coats/jackets get them all together from wardrobes ,pegs behind the doors , coat rack in the hall this focuses on how many you have and it sometimes is a wake up call!!!You can also see if you have duplicates ,10 pairs of black trousers anyone? A good one for the person with all the glasses. Also how many people do you need cups for at one time? She is an advocate of if you don’t love it or it’s useful to get rid of it. I like to think of wether something can do a double duty, so that large casserole dish can be used as a mixing bowl so I don’t need a mixing bowl as well. I hope this helps someone . And don’t forget to store like with like then you don’t lose things.I have to consciously stop myself from buying an automatic replacement; for instance, when I wear out a pair of jeans, I want to run out and buy a new pair, but I have 7 other pairs of trousers (including another pair of jeans), so I don't have to. The reflex to buy a new pair is really strong and I always have to have a very strict talk with myself. It helps if I put on all the other trousers and match them to all my tops, to visually see that I have enough items that match and make nice combos.

Well done everyone, I'm so impressed with how much decluttering is being done! And huge thanks to @Mrs_Salad_Dodger for the kind words, motivation and support throughout the thread
I'm being very quiet on the decluttering front at the moment. Preparing for an exam next week so I'm purposefully putting decluttering to one side until that is done (otherwise it is the kind of project that I would jump at in order to procrastinate on revision!)
I'll get back to it properly once the exam is out of the way, and in the meantime will take care of any easy wins of decluttering things I come across during the day.10 -
Good afternoon. We had a pretty quiet weekend. Dd3 had a friend stay all weekend, dd2 had a party Saturday evening and then tested positive on Sunday! Other than being tired, she's okay at the minute.
Today has been busy! 5 car fulls of stuff has come back from the unit! The conservatory has been rearranged and everything is now stacked in there, can't get in there at all at the moment. I've sorted through a couple of bags already and have 3 black bags of clothes in the car ready for the clothes bank tomorrow. I was trying to get DH to sort the incinerator or take some cardboard to the tip but nope, he put 37 empty cardboard boxes into the shed.
So far left the house is

Thanks to this thread, I’ve finally got around to starting to list things on eBay!!! 6 / MANY so far but it’s a start 😀
bag of stuff sorted to take to the charity shop tomorrow 👍
gradually working through half used toiletries…. I’m taking the time to use body lotion each time after my shower and I’m going to do a face pack / soak my feet / or some other pampering type thing at least once a month as a way of using stuff up whilst rewarding myself for getting this decluttering mission done.Good luck with the exam @GeorgianaCavendish 🤞
Great minds think alike @Clutterbug07 , I’m using up some fragrance oils in my diffuser at the moment, I’d forgotten I even had them 🙄Word for 2023 …PROACTIVE 🧡 2023 -decluttering campaign 1020/2023 ⭐️⭐️Saving towards paying off car in November…£720/£1500 🚗12 -
3 bags of manure to a happy gardener

Been putting groceries away left in bags on the floor-thanks to roommates. Also 12 bags of cans and bottles left the house - unfortunately the former alcoholic that took them in is now a lapsed alcoholic after one year of sobriety as he used the money he got at the recycling center to buy vodka. So I am very angry at the moment. Got up at 4 in the morning because I couldn't sleep and put in two hours adding brother-in-law's genealogy to computer instead of sleeping. There are days!11

although I am not a hoarder, I am joining as I have some belongings that may be better used by other people. Luck for me my children took lots when they left home and we have moved many times Have just read living on a pound a day and this has inspired me to do better, buy less and share what I do have with others.

It’s soooo cold 🥶
my hands don’t work properly when it’s this cold, must be an age thing.- 6 Things into a bag for Son1
- 2 pairs of Religious school tights into the clothes bank
Didn't manage a NSD but did manage to order food deliveries and sort out an appointment for the cat at the vets.
Also started dreaming about a holiday, Barbados, Crete, Malta or maybe Durham on a blow up bed with the dog at Son2’s flat. 🌴🌞🌴🌞Decluttering Campaign Member -179/2023
