I now have a clean and organised wardrobe all be it still with far too many clothes for one person. I'm sure the decluttering will slow down over time but when there is so much to get through and with a new clear mindset about it all I'm going to do my best to keep going!
Time for dinner and to rest now! Looking forward to what I can tackle tomorrow 😊
Whoop! Whoop! 27 more of Son1’s things have been Decluttered over to his new house, just a few more things to go. It’s so nice to see him excited about decorating and making the girls room pretty for them, he went out today to buy some essentials, apparently a stuffed wall mounted Unicorns head 🦄 IS AN ESSENTIAL MUM!
I’m really pleased to have a whole linen cupboard back, I keep my sewing machine, fabrics and winter clothes in there but it’s big enough to set the sewing machine up and pull up a chair and be good to sew, then all the mess (Sorry, I mean textile art / bespoke tailoring) is in one place.
I’m glad to have my space back but also glad I could help out and we didn’t kill each other, it’s been a long time since we last lived together.
Anywho, enjoy your Sunday evening xx 1580/2022

Thanks everyone for the welcome and all the tips! Me and my son tackled his room today. I think we have gone as far as we can before we buy new (2nd hand) furniture. It is the box room and currently have bunk beds in there, now it's just his room we will be looking to replace bunks with a high sleeper with desk etc underneath as there isn't room for a desk at the mo.. we went through all his clothes and he got rid of any outgrown or no longer liked.. He now has a place for pretty much everything. He even decided to get rid of all his nerf guns! He's put 3 aside for us to sell, 1 broken one in the bin and 8 to be donated to charity. He still doesn't want to part with any Lego (he has a stupid amount!) but all the loose bits are now in underbed storage boxes with lids, and his favorite built bits are on display on his chest of draws. we've dusted, cleaned the window and vaccumed... Also removed all my eldest sons stuff which was emotionally hard.. I think I deserve my glass of wine tonight.
You can go too far in decluttering clothes - I have one pair of trousers plus a back-up pair for when those are in the laundry, 1 pr. of shorts, three skirts (including one I bought in 1966), 3 cardigan type sweaters, 4 sweaters (3 from England and Scotland), 3 t-shirts to wear at night, and 8 tops (some of which are 20 years old or more). Really need to make a list of what I need and do some trawling of charity shops. No dresses at all. A coat I bought in Doncaster in 1990. I have only 4 pair of shoes and a pair of boots. I just hate shopping for clothes - but I am going to get desperate soon.
I have been to see DD1 today. She is moving away soon and renting her house out. Oops 😬 She has given me things that I gave her years ago. A metal garden arch. A Clarice Cliff cup that I bought from a jumble sale when I was a little girl. A straw bag and 3 velvet curtains. The curtains are earmarked for a craft project that I have an idea for. I also brought a box of paper home for our bin as hers is full. I turned down so many things offered including a chair that I really like. I was strong and resisted the urge to take things to find them a good home. She is being ruthless and I am encouraging it.
I have things to add to my decluttered list but my notebook is all the way upstairs 🤦♀️😂
when I feel fully better I will knock spots off as my Auntie Eileen used to say.
My Dad passed away last year and I cleared 50 years of possessions from his house. However, some of it has made it's way to my house!! In addition, we moved home in November and I am determined to keep this one clear of clutter. We have an attic for the first time and I have imposed a rule of sentimental or useful for anything going up there (decorating materials, Christmas decorations, photographs etc). I have some things from the move in storage and I plan to be ruthless in dealing with them - box at a time!
We have new wardrobes and all of our clothes are now in one place. That has been an absolute eye opener so we are having a 'no clothes purchases' year this year. The amount we have is obscene so we wear what we own.
We have a garden at this house and we have never had a garden before so I will need some furniture and decorative items for it but I am a member of a few local bartering groups and plan to swap some of the clutter from storage for things that I can use out there.

@2Scratters your suggestions were not too late and very helpful. Thanks 😊
Lost count of where I am will need to check my notebook. Few more items to the charity pile and into recycling.
Coffee table tidied (2 books to go and a load of magazines/leaflets to recycling).
Ironing tidied into piles, DD school uniform all ironed and put away. I will do the rest of the ironing in shorts bursts throughout the week.
All paperwork and personal admin rounded up into one box. I need to do another sweep and will then sort each evening when I'm watching TV until sorted, kept and filed or shredded. I did sort a drawer full of receipts today and DD shredded under my supervision.
Went to the beach this afternoon with OH and Dd was lovely to stroll and enjoy the sunshine. Really clear and could see right across the channel.
Back to reality of work and school tomorrow. DD is on daily LTF's as 2 positive cases in her class. Luckily she is happy to do them without a fuss, for being so young, I'm proud of her.
I like to think of wether something can do a double duty, so that large casserole dish can be used as a mixing bowl so I don’t need a mixing bowl as well. I hope this helps someone .
