LFT kits put away in the kitchen cupboard - it occurred to me, in the middle of the night!!, that the kits do not have to permanently sit on the table. Vacant spot in cupboard identified and voilà- less visible clutter.
I now wear my slippers around the house too - to stop them cluttering up the floor.
Every little helps

Like several on this group I have a bit of a stationery fettish and have to have new notepad etc with any new group or project. Consequently I have loads of half used pads and books which I am steadily working my way through. The first step was to gather them all in one place and resist buying new ones. I have one on the desk where I record my decluttering numbers and things to claim on my next post. I have clipped loose pages at the front of the book to try and write lists on. I have also relocated the reusable printer paper stash near to my printer so I can use that up instead of using new paper. Pile is currently 18 inches high (left over from my masters degree when I had to print out loads of case law stuff - you couldn't do it on computer really). This is probably down to about 10% of what I had after I finished the dissertation.
Back to Cheshire again yesterday for family lunch out to celebrate DS1's birthday - our numbers were reduced somewhat but we had a nice time. DS2 drove so more relaxing for me. Plumber had to defer repair on Friday as they were a van down but coming this Wednesday. Temporary repair is holding ok. Quite a few frogs to do for groups this week so I need to stop procrastinating and get on with them. Went shopping with DS2 when we got back near home yesterday so nothing to make me go out today. I think I will go swimming tomorrow.
Had a bit of sort through large pile of postcards I acquired - some old but some more modern and unused so did some postal competition entries on them using up last of my Christmas stamps. DIL is on annual leave this coming week so I shouldn't have any school runs to do. I have some liver and bacon and stewing meat in freezer so hopefully I can do batch cooking in slow cooker. I got some diced root vegetables in YS section last night.
122 OOD Oddments throw out of fridge and cupboards/shelves
123 Some postcards used up for competitions, some thrown away, others still to sort
124 Last of Christmas stamps used up - I don't like using them other than at Christmas.
125 Some clean plastic dishes (from Chinese meal) brought back from Cheshire and given to DS2 who will use them for batch cooking.2025 Decluttering Campaign 648/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

leelad said:Morning MrsSD and fellow declutterers, well an unexpected session of decluttering just now. Decluttered approx. 50 carrier bags/bags for life, 5 Christmas gift bags and 4 bottle holders off the back of my wife trying to find a light bulb at the back of our pantry. Segregated everything by material, the paper and refuse recycle bins are starting to groan now. The bottom end of the pantry looks a lot tidier now, which I acknowledged to her last night. Onwards and upwards. This afternoon's task is to clean and declutter the two greenhouses which belong to my Auntie. Wish me luck 😉 cheers 🙂AKA : Bala La Boo & Bala Baloo

To the newbies, a tip from the Marie Kondo way was to declutter by category starting with things you aren’t too attached to.She suggests getting everything from all round the house of one category, say you are doing coats/jackets get them all together from wardrobes ,pegs behind the doors , coat rack in the hall this focuses on how many you have and it sometimes is a wake up call!!!You can also see if you have duplicates ,10 pairs of black trousers anyone? A good one for the person with all the glasses. Also how many people do you need cups for at one time? She is an advocate of if you don’t love it or it’s useful to get rid of it. I like to think of wether something can do a double duty, so that large casserole dish can be used as a mixing bowl so I don’t need a mixing bowl as well. I hope this helps someone . And don’t forget to store like with like then you don’t lose things.
i declutter a bag of clothes and 2 pairs of shoes . 🤩Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.16 -

Hi all,
Could I please join? I have been reading since the start of Jan and you are all so motivating.
I dont really throw anything out other than rubbish. My house isn't bursting at the seams but we are hoping to buy our first home this year and I don't want to end up dragging it all with us.
I have multiplying frogs due to chronic health issues and sometimes admittedly laziness and I really want to get on top of it all now once and for all. This will improve my mental health, make it easier to keep the house clean and tidy and also make our hopeful move substantially easier. I dont have a specific numerical goal but I think I will recognise things becoming easier throughout the year if I keep at it.
I've decided this morning to stop sitting and dreaming of a decluttered house and moved upstairs to sort one drawer. So here goes
1 x Clutch Bag
2- 4 Holey Socks
5 & 6 Knackered Bras
7 Christmas Socks
8 Unused Scarf
9-14 Unused trainer Socks donated to Niece
15 & 16 Unused Welly Socks donated to niece
17-20 Crop sports bras donated to niece
21 Thermal Socks donated to Aunt
It's amazing how much you can find in just one drawer and I'm sure there will be more that doesn't end up going back in once I get around to putting the laundry away!
Thanks for having me 😊

Some decluttering done and frogs dealt with. Still maintaining 10k steps a day and not spent any money on anything other than basic food shops which are much reduced as I am trying to use excess stocks from Christmas.
Cupboard of doom in bedroom fully emptied and tidied several tems flung and I have to admit to opening door several times just to look at how tidy it is.
Contacted plumber to fix overflow problem which caused a flood in garage. This resulted in major declutter of garage not counting items as this is DH domain.

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 5 tasks.
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV and playing AB2 during daylight hours 😉
4. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bedSunday is turning into an overcast day & rather cold. DSis came down for a cuppa & has gone back to her room 😉 I have done 2 of today’s tasks - phoned bank & paid CC bill & checked on accounts - updated paper records 😉 + have finally written a personal shopping list - I need new bras, plain t-shirts, plain long sleeved blouses/shirts, old fashioned lace up shoes & a pair of smart trousers. The list is now in my handbag & I will try to remember it is there whenever I go out 🤞😉 A small task (not on my list) has been done - hg raspberries have been decanted into portion sized bags & Greek yogurt has been added to DH’s shopping list - I am determined to get into the habit of eating something healthy during the first part of the day 🤞The hm soup has been zizzed & taste tested - needed a bit of seasoning but now 🤤 The baking tray that I left to soak overnight is now washed & drip drying.
EnergyShifter, me too - poor memory & resort to writing down (fortunately I don’t tend to lose the lists 😉) I am also giving you a gentle nudge to sort out your tax 😉 Permission should be given to DS to tell you off until 2 days AFTER your knee feels better 🙂 so you do not have a relapse 😉
TC77 perhaps a notebook rather than scraps of paper 😉😉
roundtuit, like balabooberlies your post made me laugh 😂Nice to see you leelad 👋 What a great decluttering session & well done to your wife for instigating said session - one medal 🏅 🏅 for each of you 👏 Good luck with decluttering your auntie’s greenhouses 🤞Guineapigsqueaks, you are braver than I am - listing your tasks for the day on the thread 🦸♀️ 👏 Let me know when the plum crumble is made & I will pop round to taste test 🙃😉GrannyKate a stationery fetish sounds quite rude 😉🙃 but I fully understand 😂 Like you I am steadily working my way through them & resisting all temptation to buy any more - if I do go out I studiously avoid the stationery shelves 😉 good job I don’t go out very often 😂 Sounds like a lovely get together 😊 shame about the reduced numbers 😔 Fingers crossed that the plumber gets to you on Wednesday 🤞 Excellent decluttering 👏 & good luck with the competition entries 🍀wort, Thanks for reminding us of Marie Kondo’s ‘Like with like’ method - I tried it once with clothing but didn’t really have the space & ended up getting disheartened & abandoning it half way through & then shoving everything away 😔 I should point out that I did try to do it all at once instead of dividing it into categories 😞 So thank you for the timely reminder & I will try again but only with one category at a time 😉 The like with like system does work - I did it with my stationery supplies 🙂👏 I also love the idea of a large casserole dish doing double duty as a mixing bowl 🙂 Great decluttering 👏Lovely 2nd post 😊
JustMum89, Welcome aboard The EDT 👋 Sorry to hear about the chronic health issues 😞 Very impressed that you have arrived with a flourish - made the decision to join us & then pitched straight in 👏👏 Well done on such an excellent start 👏Excellent work all round Marpau 👏 Dealing with frogs, decluttering, keeping up your steps & keeping your purse firmly shut 👏 + helping DH declutter the garage 🤩 However I am most impressed with the Cupboard of Doom being successfully decluttered so one medal 🏅 on its way 🙂 Hopefully we all do the opening the door to admire our clear & tidy cupboards, rooms etc 🤞It is a confirmation of our success & reminds us at low points that we can declutter 🙂👏MrsSD 🏅🏅🏅 🌟 ⭐️ ⭐️I AM A STAR 🌟

Another bag of "stuff" gone to chazzer, recycling taken to the tip & soft plastic taken to the Co-op. I also picked up a dozen books for my brother's FiL, which are camping at the bottom of my stairs.
I've decluttered several bottles of wine & some food since Thursday night as DS2 & DDiL have been staying. They've now left but will be back at some point for an imminent family funeral 😕2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
