Hi all, managed to get to the bank yesterday and sorted another frog but during the conversation it transpires I need a consult so appointment made for next week, this frog is breeding Out last night and I was knackered when I got home so more or less straight to bed. Today I tackled the living room and created a mess sorting out a heap but did sort most of it into the bin, recycling and proper place. Also had a rummage in my bag of wool. I made a scarf for OH niece and posted it off last week. It still hadn't arrived, I was checking if I have enough of the colour she asked for left but unfortunately I don't think I do though I will take another look in daylight. I might have to take a trip to the wool shop but I will leave this until next week as well in case it turns up. Just a word of caution to those decluttering divorce papers. I got rid of mine years ago BUT when I applied for my pension I needed the date of my decree nisi. I had no idea, it was that long ago, so keep a note of the date somewhere if you are getting rid of all the paperwork, you will need it. Falling asleep now so Take care everyone
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 5 tasks. 2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays. 3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV and playing AB2 during daylight hours 😉 4. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
So the rain stayed away all day Friday 👏 but the temperature has dropped rapidly 🥶 Managed 4 out of 5 tasks including photographing labels on celebration bottles (one was 12 years old) then recycling the bottles; the Frik Friday Frog of removing hair from the roller on the vacuum cleaner (hopefully it won’t smell like burning next time I kp lp luv & vacuum 🤞) & a 15 minute session in the garden. Dinner was HB Somerset chicken with boiled potatoes & cauliflower - not very colourful 😉 but very tasty 😋 (plus I got to have a drink of cider 😉😉) Wudupa.
vulpix, great suggestions for how mmm_wine can start her decluttering journey 👏 Sorry to hear you are feeling down but planning a holiday should perk you right up 🙂🤞As to your decision to buy nowt - I applaud you & wish you every success 🙂 If you don’t make any resolutions you can’t break them 🤣
Welcome aboard The EDT the_curvy_disney_princess 👋 You have made an excellent start to your decluttering journey 👏 Wishing you lots of luck in getting your partner on board as it always helps if there are two of you working on decluttering 👏 🍀
I can almost feel the warmth, Floss 😊
Welcome katiecpd 👋 Sounds like you are well on the way to a clutter free home 👏 I still have my decree nisi & absolute from my divorce 36 years ago but no other documents. My contribution to the chat is that I had a divorce party 🥳😉
Great work marrob 👏
Good work GeorgianaCavendish 👏
Welcome aboard The EDT donna73 👋 Very impressed with your decluttering strategy 👏
Listing all areas/drawers/cupboards for decluttering in every room is such a great idea & then ticking them off as soon as they are done 👏 Re the gu pots I used to have quite a few but decluttered all bar one which I use as a teabag rest 🙂
Welcome aboard The EDT (Electric Decluttering Train) FayeCC 👋 sorry you are feeling so overwhelmed 😔 My first tip to get you started is to grab a black bin bag & go through every room binning all the visible rubbish? Tie up the bag/bags & put out into wheelie bin. Do the same with a recycling bag. 2nd tip is to clear work surfaces in the kitchen & do washing up, drying, putting away each night before you go to bed. Lists are your friends - list all the areas you wish to declutter THEN prioritise. Remember that once you start it does get easier 😉 We are all here to encourage each other towards a Clutter free home 🙂
That is a lot of glassware TC77 😉 Good luck with your decluttering 🍀🙂 I had to smile at DD2’s reaction to the glassware 😉🙂
Good work CCW007 👏
It is sad when books are no longer viable daisy_1571 but I do agree that if all other options are exhausted then they should be binned 😔
Excellent decluttering Finstickle 👏
Oops StickyTheStickInsect 😉 Good idea if you have huge amounts of documents to be shredded. Might not be cheap but at least it gets bags out 👏 I have been a bit remiss - one Gold Star ⭐️
Glassware decluttering seems to be all the rage vulpix 😉
charlies_tribe, what a great idea to put books out front 👏 Great decluttering 👏🥳
Liverpool_Anne, well done on sorting the bank frog 👏 I thought frogs just got huge - didn’t realise they generated fast growing tadpoles 😉 Great work on the living room declutter 👏 Fingers crossed the scarf arrives before you start to knit another one 🤞

About children's books that are damaged - are any of the pictures in good shape that might be framed for use in a child's room? I have a file of pictures I have saved from books to use in projects - like collages.
Phew finally caught up! Hugs to those that need them & well done to all for getting through another day (or 3) & achieving bits along the way. Not a good start to the day yesterday, as had a positive test. Now having to isolate in my tiny bedroom, which is the dumping ground, so no fun to look at. Was brave & did a speedy video to show a couple of close friends what state it was in. Now that I can hardly leave it, I'm going to do something about it! Started last night by sorting through the shelf above our bed.
@Liverpool_Anne thanks for the reminder - I have both decree absolutes (🤭) but in my defence my first wedding was on my 20th birthday & my second when I was 46! @Mrs_Salad_Dodger I had a divorce party for the first, but the second came through in lockdown.
I've stalled on the decluttering front this week, having been working and actually in the office for 2 days + 3 days next week.
Not much will happen today as I have DS2 & DDiL staying right now - my first ex-FiL is in a palliative care ward so much chat about grandparents has ensued.
I listed some items on a free site the other day and someone is going to collect it all this morning so that's another bag of stuff out of the house. I also returned some items to shops bought before Christmas. I have had a few items come into the house, some clothes as I literally wear mine to wearing out point and a few presents for Christmas - yes Christmas! I've spotted a few fab things in some sales for people so I have bought them but I do have a dedicated box to pop any gifts I buy during the year. So pretty even with things going in and out, but the right things are going out and the right things are coming in!
vulpix she's a cockapoo, i'm excited but also really nervous as this is all new to us. Thanks for your well wishes. I'm sorry to hear you've had some upsetting family news, it's always so unsettling. I hope planning your holiday will be a nice distraction for you.
donna73 I don't know if you ever eat Pringles but the lids from those fit onto Gu pots quite nicely. I made my friend some of my smoked salmon pate at Christmas and put it in a Gu pot with a Pringles lid on top and a ribbon around it, it's quite handy.
MrsSD and TC77 thank you for your well wishes.
Thrifty Taylor sorry to hear you have got covid and are confined to your room, I hope you don't suffer with it and hopefully the decluttering will be a good distraction for you.
they've done well though as we were given a lot of them when dd1 was born almost 21 years ago, from someone whose children were now adults themselves and didn't want them.
@charlies_tribe Have you thought about putting them on eDay? Childhood memorabilia sells really well, someone somewhere 50 years ago might have loved those stories, I put some old Sindi bits and Bobs on and they flew out. we’ve made confetti here from old books, kept the kids busy obsessively hole punching. Any picture books are used at craft club, cutting glueing and sticking for fine motor skills. xx

@Baxtersmum love the idea of the confetti and craft club use of books past reading. I still have childhood books and my dad has 1000s but so many have such small print and certainly not attractive to many people to read. I still have my wedding album ( divorced many yrs) but in eaves so not a priority. I will know when I get near the end of my decluttering journey . I intend keeping a few photos of the friends and family I love. No idea where divorce papers are. Avoided court then but 5 folders of court stuff as owes me money - major frog following this up as court said another hearing as soon after may 20 and hasn't happened. Not quite strong enough to tackle this at the moment.
Love all the creativity, motivation, support and caring here Healing best wishes to those in need of recovery x
It is great to hear of everyone's decluttering success.
PK29 Awwwwwwww, a little Teddy Bear dog.
Thrifty - Taylor I do hope that you don't feel too rotten. Your bedroom will be immaculate by the time isolation ends.x
Today I have girded my loins and weighed myself Half a stone of flab that wasn't there last summer. That is on top of the couple or 3 stone overweight I was anyway. Monday is D day. The past month I have been sitting a lot to sew this quilt that I am trying to make for DIL's birthday. When that is done I will make myself be more active. I still don't think the quilt will be finished for the Birthday even with some days sewing for 8 or 9 hours!
Thanks for the welcome @Mrs_Salad_Dodger 😀 and thanks for the tip about the Pringles lids @princesskitty29 - we don’t have them often, but will definitely save them when we do now!
Well I’ve got a large bag of stuff sorted ready to list on eBay , real mix of things from the decluttering so far. Just need to stop procrastinating and get on and do it. We’ve had to order a new sofa, as ours has completely had it , so any money I make will go towards payments for that. I just need a rocket up my bum to make me do it !!! Any encouragement / suggestions on ways to make me bite the bullet and do it would be gratefully received!! 🙄🙏
