@florianatwobob that's so nice about the smoothie hat thing. Have you done it before? I actually have two I've kept for years, they're now hats for two little dinosaur teddies!
That's a Tasmanian devil in the background- it growls- we actually got it from Tasmania!

Good morning from a dark & dreary London 😔 Yesterday I forgot to mention that neighbour I brought round a bag of glass jars for my pickling 😱 Very kind but I had only recently culled my collection 😉 However in the spirit of not feeling too guilty - I have gone through them this morning & kept half (small jars for use as taster pots 🙂) - the other half (8 jars) have been recycled - not being counted in numbers but being counted as a task done 😂 Down to 10 🙂 I have also written up a couple of recipes in my new book - now 9 tasks for Tuesday 😉 I am determined to catch up today 😉🤞
There you go weenancyinAmerica - several ideas already 🙂👏 So thank you to Liverpool_Anne, villagelife, -taff, wort - hopefully weenancyinAmerica can find a method that works 🤞
Liverpool_Anne, a tad extreme but sometimes only extreme measures will work 🤣
Good work villagelife 👏
Excellent decluttering newlywed 👏 Has something prompted you to remove brown from your colour palette? If so, perhaps revisit the reason & then see if you still want to declutter 😉 If you do decide to cull the brown clothing & accessories is there someone in your family or circle of friends who might like the accessories? you might then get to see the items once in a while 🙂 Or there is the tried & tested route of taking photos which you can look at to evoke the happy memories which are attached to the various items 🙂 rather than keeping the items themselves.
Floss, I have one of those pensions but slightly more generous - nearly £16 per week 🙂 I elected to receive the amount annually & generally put it aside for birthday/Christmas presents. I think I like your idea better 👏
-taff, your OH has become a declutterer by osmosis 😉
What a lovely idea Floss - framing jewellery as artwork 😊👏
Excellent decluttering mehefin 👏 “Just doing” a great decluttering motto 🙂
Well done on a bit of TLC ruby_eskimo 👏 sometimes you just need to take time out 🙂 Although having said that, you did get quite a lot done 👏
Great work roundtuit 👏 Surprising how often looking for something specific turns into a decluttering opportunity 🙂
Excellent work on the recycling florianatwobob 👏 Also a triple win re your wool stash - one medal 🏅 is on its way 🙂
What an excellent idea Liverpool_Anne 👏 I have a feeling that newlywed will like that idea 🙂
wort, another excellent idea for newlywed 👏 Love the ideas for weenancyinAmerica - less drastic than some 😉
Lovely picture Clutterbug07 😊
bit_by_bit what a great description- “a little bag of happiness” 😁 Seems to be a week for decluttering Frogs 👏 Belated birthday wishes for your DH 🥳
Well that brought a huge smile to my face Baxtersmum 😆 as did Floss’s comment 😂

It’s my first year but I found the left over odd and ends of yarn whilst ferreting about in the cupboard under the stairs at the weekend. I’d previously made some pom poms so they are now going on top of the hats. I’m 3 bobble hats down already and I’m sure I’ve got a mini Father Christmas hat I crocheted some time ago that will be joining the collection. Once the pom poms are all used up I shall be attempting a crochet sombrero!
ETA thank you for my medal 🏅 Mrs SD!

I have been reading along as best as I can as it's so motivating but I am still way behind so apologies if i've missed any big news! I haven't done loads since my last post as i've been visiting my mum 100 miles away who's just finished radiotherapy treatment and just generally trying to get back on top of busy family life now Christmas is over and everything is back to normal. Some of the things I have managed are:
- Putting out our broken fairy lights with the recycling bin - thank you to whoever mentioned this (i'm sorry I can't remember who it is), I would never have known and they were collected this morning! - Doing a freezer inventory, I lost track of our one during Christmas and I like to know what's in there so I can plan our meals more easily and not buy stuff we don't need with the weekly shop. - Dropped a large bag of plastic wrapping at our local supermarket that now collects it to recycle. - Put out a large bag of clothes, shoes and bags for a charity that is collecting in our area today.
I had loads of good intentions to get stuff done today but I feel a bit scatty today, i'm kind of wandering around with no real purpose and can't focus on anything. I'm going to have some lunch and try and get some stuff done this afternoon, however small a job it may seem.
@Baxtersmum, I would have loved to see that parcel The shoulder is much improved but I am spending the morning sorting some budget and banking stuff so it will only be mental decluttering. The upside of not being able to do much is that OH has stepped up to helping sort the kitchen of the everyday clutter which, as you know, is a bit of a bug bear of mine. I am afraid to say I have just ignored it and last night it was done, even the floor was swept. Long may it continue Just listening to the news and the backlash from the garden party fiasco. The local radio phone in is running hot with people who had loved ones die and were not able to visit them. I don't know how much more people can take of this Take care everyone
No Mrs SD nothing specific to have removed the colour, it’s more that I have lost 4 stone since summer 2020 and am down to these few pieces that I kept from when I was slimmer before. I had quite a bit more brown in the larger sizes, hence several pieces of jewellery to match) but all other clothes have been decluttered.
I used to wear more brown when my hair had copper colours added…. It’s been a while since that.
Im not really browsing the charity shops like I used to either… but brown is actually quite a tricky one to buy, there never seems to be a huge amount around.
The skirt is chocolate with kind of muted petrel blue embroidery and I’m not sure a white or cream top would go… I have always been very much a matching person, though I sometimes wish I wasn’t!
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
I attacked the dreaded porch yesterday. It wasn't that cluttered following DH's efforts the other week but it needed a good spray with the Dettol so everything came out before some of it went back in.
36 - decluttering and organising the porch 37 - bag of random hi-vis bits to DH's workshop - leftover from when he worked on building sites, not sure why he still needs them, but at least they are out of the house! 38 - also sorted out DH's junk drawer and organised it, random bits thrown away and old takeaway tubs used to organise 39 - created DH a memory box so his bits and pieces don't get trashed in the junk drawer. Bless him he doesn't have a lot as I tend to keep the joint stuff or bits from DD so just anything more recent from DSS & DSD 40-45 - looked at DD's medicines, teething powder & 5 medicine syringes gone
More bits and pieces into the CS & Material Recycling bags.
