Hi from a rather chilly Cheshire. Visiting DS1 who had a special birthday yesterday. We had a lovely lunch at The I*y in Manchester which was my treat. They are all at work/school today - this house would give you declutterers grey hair (many of us already have it I know). I potter around doing odd things and children have promised to sort their rooms with me this evening (they are beyond disgusting). Zoom meeting at 10 for committee and I haven't got all the papers I need with me but I'm sure we will manage.
@TC77 I shall be decluttering the BG contract at end of this month. The number of things they don't cover seems to be never ending and even then they are indecisive so I think the engineers are never sure when they come to a job whether they will be allowed to do it. Expensive waste of money but the hassle was even more of a nightmare. Lovely local plumber came out in less than an hour Christmas Eve to do temporary fix for leak and coming Friday with new part and will check leaky tap as well.

I had a read a magazine day yesterday- which means there is a small pile of magazines waiting to go out into the recycling box. Every little helps 🙂
I've been online and requested more Gift Aid tags as there are piles of books and random other stuff ready to go to cs. Lockdown stopped my flow out, then cs were inundated with donations, and I've not been into town since the pandemic began. Psyching myself up to bite the bullet and even if I only take a couple of bags each week eventually they'll all be gone. Requesting the labels is the first step.
I think I'm about half way through my declutting journey- definitely a marathon and not a sprint. The hall, stairs and landing are totally clear, and every room is about half done....oh, apart from the cupboard of doom under the stairs. Hmm, perhaps I'm a third of the way. But, you know what, there is floor in every room and I can eat at the table....the journey began in 2010. I'm better at letting things go now. And if I get stuck on something, I put it back and move on, so the forward motion isn't derailed. I was inspired by someone who was honest enough to say that they were 15 years into their journey- it sort of freedme to take as long as it takes rather than set unrealistic time limits. Because it's not just about the hoard and the clutter, it's about mental health issues and learning how to love myself.
No idea where that came from- but I'll leave it in the hope that it helps someone else ❤

Thank you Roundtoit
I really needed that post. Feeling really low, reasons more than one, so am back to couch potatoing.
Your post helps relieve the guilt that's so counter-productive.

Chin up @balabooberlies we all need a couch potato day every once in a while. Especially when we’ve been on a roller coaster of emotions recently.Remember, you have a 100% success rate in dealing with days like this and coming back from them. Every emotion, (even the ones you might not like yourself for feeling) is valid. Give yourself permission to feel down, and permission to get back on top of things again. And the train rumbles on for me…..
out of my bedroom and very pleased with my cleaning and small decluttering in there.
Now onto the kitchen…..I religiously clean my cupboards every few weeks …so in theory it should be a breeze 😂😂😂…
I open all the cupboards and then sit the other side of the kitchen to look what needs to be done…..tbf most cupboards had been done just before Christmas and a few glass dishes were sent on their way then but I’ve actually found items to declutter …sneaky little devils aren’t they?2 large Tupperware cake boxes have been removed
a few packs of paper plates and paper napkins and various other ‘storage containers’.
very pleased with that indeed …so much so I stopped for a lunch hour and decluttered a veg soup and seeded roll into my belly…next stop is a cuppa with a pen and paper to make a list of what needs doing.
I usually write a goals list for the year. This details what I’d want to get done in my home.
Im decorating and trying to get it so that it can all be done once a year as a quick refresh with white or cream paint …no big major changes.
im hoping to get all the house decluttered in January 🤞😁…it should be doable….
bathrooms are done
my bedroom is done
lounge is done
kidults are responsible 😂😂 for their own rooms
kitchen is underway today
which leaves the hallway and the attic….or The Room of Doom…or The Procrastination Station ….or The Shed Above My Head!!!!Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine. Doesn’t it make you feel so much better…just the ticket…
Now off for a cuppa

Bala Sometimes things just get on top of you and you need some you time, be gentle with yourself. I shall send you many hugs.
I wish I'd joined you on the couch though as I've had an awful day. Fell up the steps when coming back with the recycling bag, I'm blaming the council because they should have emptied the bag yesterday and then I wouldn't have fallen and scraped my hands, luckily I had trousers on, which saved my knees. I took out some steak and some kidney from the freezer ready to make a pie....... turns out it wasn't kidney but a large portion of liver 😮 Put the steak in the slow cooker and forgot to turn it on for over an hour and also put an empty wm on instead of the full dw, didn't notice till it had finished and went beep. Wm is nice and clean though 😁
I have cooked the liver and will split it into 2 portions and then put it back into the freezer, so much for trying to empty the freezer. Think I'll go back to bed before I do any more damage !! Perhaps I'll take myself off to the massage carriage first though and if the masseur is dishy I could be gone some time 😉
I did complete 2 frogs yesterday, the first involved ringing the hospital to get a scan booked, I now have one for Sat lunchtime ( I hate using the phone as it makes me really anxious). Maybe they'll try to find my brain too as I seem to have decluttered it 🙁 The second frog was sending an email to a newly found long lost best friend from school. We lost touch when I moved to the other end of the country and she went to uni, but now we're both in Wales, albeit either side, me in the SE and she's living in the West. Took me ages to get 50 years of news condensed into 2 paragraphs but I'm sure we'll swap more details in future emails.
Lots of recycling done today, a salad cream bottle, coffeemate tin, gravy granules tin, milk carton, egg box, oats box, and more which I have forgotten. DH has spent hours in the office going through computer discs, there seems to be a huge stack waiting to be cut up and he hasn't finished yet ! I'm staying out of the way and letting him get on with it. Will give a rough total when he's finished.
Hope everyone is well, hugs if not. To those experiencing black dog days, extra hugs coming your way.
Take care all, sorry for waffling, again.

Hi all,
This morning I have sorted a bag of stuff that had migrated to my bedroom, mainly paperwork, so 2 small bags of paper recycled and the rest is filed in the shoe boxI was just about to phone the tax office when the post arrived. 1 letter straight into the recycling, 1 is from the RSPB for the garden watch so that is on the window sill to be used on the correct day, and 1 was from the tax office, they have adjusted my tax code so no need for the phone call
. 1 job off the to do list for today, serendipity
. Just off to the local shop for some milk and it will be coffee o'clock
. It was very cold this morning but the sun is shinning now so a dose of vit D coming up.
Take care everyone12 -
Bala - hugs xx Do what you can, when you can. And when you can't, don't.
That song comes to mind: know when to hold them, know when to fold them, know when to walk away, know when to run. When you are hurting already please don't beat yourself up for needing down time.
Much love
