Hello, sorry the thread really moving way too fast to keep up.
this week I have:
halfheartedly cleaned the oven… well it will prevent it from getting even worse I hope! My biggest frog I think.
Decluttered the remainder of hair gel I don’t use anymore
decluttered some too big undies some uncomfortable socks
bagged up 2 books, a craft magazine, pair of jeans, five tops, two skirts ready for charity shop
i have two pairs of very high heels that I love but won’t honestly wear now… and am trying to come to terms with letting one or both go.
I also am thinking of entirely removing one colour from my wardrobe… I have one dark brown skirt, one top, one cardigan and one smart jacket, and if it went then I have shoes, handbag, scarf and jewellery that would then be redundant and could potentially go too. But I am hesitating and I’m not sure why… maybe because I loved the skirt for years, or loved the jacket (jacket doesn’t even fit right now), or because I made the jewellery and don’t want to let that go…
wondering whether to keep the two items I love and ditch the top and cardigan - but then would need to purchase a new top to ever wear the skirt… sigh….working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?13 -

I am decluttering my stuff, but I can't get them to do anything. For me, my OH only got involved after he'd seen me really go for it over a period of a few months. And when I stopped bringing stuff in from skips or wombled items. If you are the one who is in charge so to speak, and they are children who are small, tell them they can keep so amny things and some have to go to charity shops or whatever, if they are older and they have their own rooms, shut the doors and don't look. And if they are relying on you to do housework, start delegating.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11

9 bags of various junk, motheaten soft toys, massive amount of plastic bags ( we can't recycle them here as its the wrong sort of plastic!!) and as the council lets us have more than the 2 bag limit this week a whole load of other stuff. Saved on a tip run!!
A load of hair (lovely friend up road ran the dog clippers over my thatch as my normal lady is off sick).
About to declutter a wodge of cash at the vet for Sallylabrador's drugs. I don't object to that one though.
Loads of Xmas clutter gone, either recycled or binned.
Incidentally not counting , just doing IYKWIM.12 -
Morning all. Not a lot happening over here - literally spent the weekend pretty much glued to the sofa, but think I needed it really.
Did have a quick declutter of the wrapping box and 5 more bits of packaging went out. The old light fitting from the kitchen left too as well as the Christmas cards, and then finally I started putting my pandora charms into my new jewellery box. Managed to get rid of 6 boxes so far and found a duplicate charm so need to list that somewhere to sell. So up to 38 items out so far, lots more to go!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 201712 -

Hurrah all the recycling has been collected including the crate of paper and the bag with fabric for recycling.I even managed to sneak a few bits in before they came this morning so there is no recycling anywhere.I’m currently converting small ends of balls of yarn into hats for !nnocent smoothie bottles as part of their campaign with @ge UK. Creating space in the house, keeping my fingers occupied and eventually doing some good.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

@newlywed, could you get a top in a neutral colour such as white or cream that could be worn with lots of skirts. If you love the skirt and jewellery etc it could still be used that way10

Newly wed, Maybe take a photo of the loved items all together, so you have the memory of them , but let them go think how much enjoyment someone else who may be doesn't have much will get from them. I know as I get older certain colours don't look good and have weeded them out.
@weenancyinAmerica what ages are they and where is the mess ? When my dd was at home I would take any mess she left and dump it in her room then close the door on it! She's old enough to know better. Funnily enough when she had her own child it was a case of only one game /toy out then he had to tidy up before he got out anything else!! If they are children box up half of toys and swap them round after a few months it gives them less choice so they don't flit from one to another.
A similar thing can be done for adults ,keep just enough plates cups and bowls for 1 each then there isn't a mountain of washing up, and they will need to wash theirs before they can reuse !!Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.12
