Enjoy reading about the many words for a muddle! midden takes me back to my mum.
Decided too cold tonight for my late swim so stayed and did some decluttering on pc. Takes me time, but managed 600 emails, including downloading a voucher, and then a few files and folders on the pc. Had wanted to start tax stuff but that was too complex. also cleaned dish washer filter, couple of items in the CS bag. Hoping a couple of things to go on the freesite and poss fleabay. Hope everyone is managing to stay warm .9 -
I’m still here, hoping that 2023 will bring renewed enthusiasm for decluttering as tbf it’s hard. Working on a 2 year plan to move so needs must l cannot face taking it all with me. It's SNOWING ! It had also snowed, much more heavily than this 55 years ago as I was taken to Buxton to see my baby brother. Siblings weren't allowed in and I stood in the hospital garden and waved to an upstairs window.
Energy shifter,I am pleased you are reaping the rewards of your op.
More ins I am afraid, some wool so I can use some other wool up iyswim.I bought a white fluffy hot water bottle to go with the blanket that I made for Dil's birthday. I also made her a tote bag which is lovely if I say so myself ! it is reversible. Grey velvet one side and gorgeous crane fabric the other. (bird not heavy lifting machinery, lol) All things leaving the house though.
With the getting other people to declutter conversation,my tactic with Mr V was the long game. I would get him to be involved in helping me declutter and be very pleased and happy that stuff had gone to a new home and not be wasted and that I had the space. I also made sure he heard me sing the praises of owning less stuff and thirdly I planted seeds of ideas that he eventually thought were his own. eg, electricals become defunct and will have to be thrown away eventually so may as well let someone have the use of them whilst they are still usable.
With the children We went through their belongings together every school holidays, had big trying on sessions of clothes etc. They didn't have a lot of toys because I was very poor and they played outside and they prefered to write and draw and read. What toys and clothes they had were from carboot sales. DD still has her ragtag collection of my little ponies and sylvanians in her loft. With DS it was books, books, books, rugby, football and cricket. Nowadays DD1 has replaced toys with plants and DS no change! DD2 who lost her Mum when she was 6 and the other 2 were 16 and 18 still has EVERYTHING, which is understandable to me. I never pressured her to get rid of anything. She never played though, just watched telly, but she loved acquiring stuff.
shabbychic12 I quite agree with you about moving and taking stuff you don't need with you. We have moved 3 times in the past 8 years. We have less and less stuff and don't miss it and mostly can't even remember it.
Have a lovely weekend folks Vx

Hi all, well it has snowed here for the second day running very unusual for the time of year. I was going to pop to the sm yesterday but postponed it due to the weather but I will have to go today and as the forcast is for more of the same for the rest of the week I am doing a bigger shop and I will ask LN if she needs anythimg. She has 2 daughters who are brilliant but I will ask anyway.
I have finished knitting 1 hot water bottle cover and started the 2nd. I still have to press them and fashion some buttons but it is doable
OH has decided the weather is too bad to work so the washing up might get done
The decorator has said he has time to do some work for us so I am going to try to sort out the front room so I can get it done before Christmas. I am slightly daunted by this as there is so much to move but I will try, gulpand hopefully OH will lend a hand
Right off to the sm now
Take care everyone9 -
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV during daylight hours 😉 AB2 playing zero - 20/9/2022
4. Declutter/Relocate one item every time I stand up.
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bedFriday was a bright, sunny day & the frost melted 🙂 I have gotten myself into a rut of lazy days -knitting & watching TV & not much else 😔 I finished a 2nd beanie & started a 3rd. Dinner was roast pork (excellent crackling), roast potatoes, parsnips & carrots, Yorkshire puddings, cabbage & curly kale with hm gravy compliments of DH. Wudupa.
Saturday is another bright sunny day but the temperatures have dropped from yesterday so still have frost 😬 Postman has just been & delivered several parcels for DSis + finally our new toilet seat has arrived 🥳 A very kind & cheery postman who carried the parcels in & put them on the table 👏
2126 - 2130 Kitchen recycling, magazine, plastic bottle & tray, drinks cans - recycled
2131 Kitchen detritus binned
I am really enjoying the conversation about colloquialisms daisy_1571 & TC77 🙂Great decluttering EnergyShifter 👏 although a shame about the trainers 😔
Great work on electronic decluttering TC77 👏Lovely to see you shabbychic12 👋 I will be starting the 2023 Decluttering Campaign thread shortly 😉 & hopefully a shiny new thread will restore your enthusiasm 🤞
I always love snow as it is falling vulpix 😊 but not so keen when it turns to either ice or slush 🙁 I understand fully that more wool is needed so that you can use up your existing supply 😉 Your ideas re getting others to declutter is providing plenty of food for thought 👏Stay safe on your trip to the sm Liverpool_Anne 🙏 Two days of snow with more forecast is not conducive to going out 😔 however pretty it might look. Good luck with sorting out the front room for decorating 🍀MrsSD 🏅🏅🏅🏅🥇 🌟 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Not a lot done but all progress (slow, slow progress). & pages of names, addresses and phone numbers decanted from my old diary (this year's but a total wreck), many many bags and boxes moved - some came upstairs, some went in the kitchen, lots moved from near the front door before the large food delivery arrived (I've tried to manage on what was in the house for the past two weeks but there have been times when I've had to pay dearly because of something we didn't have).
I cleaned my freezer and their fridge - both fridge freezers but my freezer was empty and some of the drawers were already out for cleaning and their fridge was bare (I've eaten a couple of very ood items from there this week - they were delicious) so started with the bits that were clear to clean, put fridge and freezer items in there when they arrived and moved some of my things (fish and veg) back into my clean freezer. Will clean and shuffle the rest as space becomes available (bought myself 3 ready meals for when I don't have time to cook - just need a breathing space. I bought a leg of lamb which will be cooked, sliced and frozen in 2-3 people portions (can always use the extra bit for sandwiches) for new year or possibly my January birthday.
Ready to do the Christmas cards now (only 10 days late) and have 5 stamps in my purse (more may turn up as I sort through everything). My brother phoned me last night - he wants picking up and shaking. We are going to go to the solicitor's on Monday (he'd had a phone call, I had a call when I was in the bathroom and it wouldn't give me a number to phone back). I've persuaded him to go with me and pick up all the final items from mum's shed (all by the gate now), plus do the final meter readings and I might drag him across to the library (council office functions are in there) and get mum's Council Tax rebate - I thought I'd sorted it in April and then they sent me an encrypted e-mail to say they wanted a letter signed by him to say it was okay to pay it into my bank account and the only times I've seen him or when my niece could take something to him, get him to sign it and bring it back, there's been too much to do.
I'm cross because he still thinks I should take charge of mum's tenant as part of my inheritance. I said we can share the tenant (in my grandma's house) and share the bungalow money. He didn't want to have charge of the tenant (he's been mum's tenant for nearly 30 years now, mum treated him like her own son and we don't want to throw him out even though he's the safest possible tenant - he's not going to run amok and destroy the house or leave with rent outstanding. Brother's not happy with sharing the tenant or him having charge of him (his daughter lives in the same street as grandma's house and she already deals with all his paperwork). He just seemed to keep inventing non-existing problems - being a landlord's complicated, he'd have to pay tax (he won't and would pay tax on his savings if he put's the money in a building society account anyway and his daughter would end up doing the tax return for him, if he had to fill one in), he might not live to pension age but there was nothing wrong with his blood tests (had to go to A & E last week and has now been told he has diabetes but doesn't think he has - he was told to put on weight after nearly dying in hospital in May 2021 and now he's a stone overweight).
Sorry for the moan, I occasionally get fed up of being 'big sister' and having to look after everyone else and sort their problems out. So bin bags (not in the bin because I'm not going outside - I've asked DS3 to bring them near to the house), admin frogs, communication frogs, cleaning frogs (I had to rest between drawers and my hands were frozen) and addresses - maybe 20 points.
So 1662/ 2022. Back to the grindstone - going to see if I can cadge DS3's shoe box to put grand-puppy's present in (awkward shape).

No snow here yet. Cold, though walked to a carboot at a local school earlier. Bought a massive bags of clothes for DD and OH for £8! Bargain.
The ironing pile is nearly decluttered thanks to OH and only 1 more wash to put on. The state of the rest of the house is embarrassing, so that's my focus for rest of the day/tomorrow.

Being a landlord does take some work, mothernerd. You do need to fill in a tax return each year even if there is no tax to pay.Various safety checks need to be done, some on an annual basis, others less frequently. Then there’s deposit protection, EPC legislation etc etc. There’s quite a bit to do even if you have an agent to do some of it for you.
It may be an idea for you to look up your full legal responsibilities as a landlord before making a decision on what to do with the rental property.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅8
