The string is up & the 8 Christmas cards are now hanging on the wall 😉 I have also shredded newspapers & paper for bedding for the worms now the temperatures are plummeting. Finished the beanie & started knitting a 2nd one. I still haven’t managed to get my ‘arris in gear 😔

Yippee roundtuit & hooray for the boiler man 🥳Thanks for the info re wall hangings, weenancy 👏 Absolutely brilliant result with the sweatshirt - you deserve a bit of good fortune 😊 Excellent customer relations as well 🙂 I think I would take a photo of the sweatshirt & frame it with the receipt - it will bring a smile to your face every time you see it 😁You are more restrained than I would have been GrannyKate 😉 One month tops 😉 Plus they should have been visiting at least every two weeks to check that the dehumidifier was working. It is appalling service 😖 Excellent decluttering 👏Floss, I quite agree.
Excellent decluttering of work emails TC77 👏 Being cynical I can just imagine that no-one has been hired so that they can save some money in the short term 😔 Sounds like you are enjoying the sewing lessons 😊 I’m sorry, who says making a lavender bag is nothing to be proud of 😠 Absolutely anything you make whilst learning a new skill is something to be proud of 👏MrsSD 🏅🏅🏅🏅🥇 🌟 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Morning all xx
Oh, the joy of hearing the boiler fire up before you venture out of bed in a morning 😊
I brought the rest of my Famous Five books down from RoD this morning - having been completely derailed by yesterday's shenanigans. So that's the full set lined up on the TARDIS now.
Ooo - spotted the ideal shelf for my Terry Pratchett books. They are currently piled in RoD2.
Little by little I'm getting there.
When overwhelm hits I must remind myself that I've estimated this is going to take a year. It's not a quick fix.
Have a good day

You are right roundtuit, It does take a long time. It has been ongoing for us for a decade. I am so glad we have done it now whilst we have had the inclination and not just ignored it until it becomes a headache for someone else after we are gone. To be honest I think what spurred me on was a brush with mortality when I had breast cancer. I only actually thought that I might die for about an afternoon but it made me want to get my house in order. Mr V can now see the benefits but left to his own devices he would never have decluttered. His need for "stuff" is greater than mine as his Mother used to throw his toys and belongings away when he was a child. He doesn't have a single item from before he left home.
I noticed the moon last night too.I had to get up at 3:30 to enjoy a biscuit eating demonstration by the cat !!!!!!!!!!! I thought lights had been left on in the house,it was so bright.
My intentions for today are a load of washing, sew another tote bag for DIL, and some scrunchies. The miffy bag for DD1 has turned out well. I will also go through my craft stores again. Only 2 banana size boxes but I can always get rid of more. I am always making up a little bag for my friends Granddaughter of bits of ribbon, beads etc.
Out today a hot plate. sold.
I will post a pic later of the top hat on it's home made stand.
Hugs for people in the TLC carriage.

My goodness it feels cold!
I have been testing my jumpers to see which ones are warm. One cream jumper I bought from a charity shop because it looked warm and cosy definitely failed and will go into a donation bag. I have put two pairs of compression gloves in the bag too along with a cushion. I tried the gloves the other day and they made the tips of my fingers feel freezing. I am going to go and look upstairs to see what else can go.
I am ready to try another jumper on. I have my thermal tights on, my thermal top and a thick dress but I still need a jumper over this!2025 GOALS

Whilst I'm not actively decluttering here I am getting rid of things as I find them. Ex-OH was here last week as a pit stop on his travels so I got him to clear out the electrical guddle behind the downstairs TV. Many years ago he rigged up various things there - my Freesat box, a YouView one, a splitter, a DV player and a Sonos speaker. I don't need anything other than the TV and Freesat box so he sat on the floor behind the TV and stripped out all the unwanted stuff. He managed to decrease 11 plugs down to four, TV, soundbox, Freesat box and Alexa.
All have gone to good homes. He's also strung an Ethernet cable between the EE router and TV.
Then he tidied up the cables upstairs, he loves a good cable tie! Happy Gers.As I go along I'm beginning to understand the emotions behind my late DM's attachment to her belongings, I think it validated her life. Now that I'm casually dealing with my own accumulations (no-where near as much as she had) I find myself keeping inconsequential items just because it relates to my professional and productive life. I wasn't always a retired person. Hope that this makes sense, it does to me. I have no need to keep my lovely name block which sat on my desk at work, but I am.I read along on this thread every day and am in awe of all the efforts being made and how much is being done. It's so lovely to read, at the risk of sounding patronising - well done everyone. (shades of 'Are you being served'?)13 -
top hat stand.

Lol @vulpix I see your Mother passed on her practical skills to you. Also to add to our list of departures: a bag of records
Cool hat stand. I can see Mr V prepping for an evening out with his tails and top hat. What a sight to behold
His interview sounds fascinating.
Glad you are warming up @roundtuit. Its definitely the wrong time of year to have no heating.
Congrats on your 3c purchase @weenancyinAmerica. Don't be so shocked. I sold a £200 shirt for £2.00 (accidentally because I hadn't checked with themanager) at my charity shop. Mind you. Where I live no one would pay £200 for anything.
Rat=yuck @Mrs_Salad_Dodger.Thanks for your kind comments.
I like the word 'guddle' @Gers. Not heard that one before. Sounds like a blended word like our 'shiggle'.As Marie Kondo says. Keep if it brings your joy re professional things
Soo mission accomplished yesterday. Christmas out of the loft at MiL and mine. Very easily done with DS2's help. I had it all in one place and labelled up. He also bought next years decs down. I boxed up all one colour way for this year and another for next year so I didn't have to mess about working out which I was going to put up this year.
Two in and outs A bag of records to the cs and a bag of bras posted to a breast cancer charity.
Today is a freeform sort of day so a big clean and tidy as I am away seeing family over the weekend. Wish I could have music on but DH is working from home so not a possibility. I work better with something going on in the back ground. Out with friends tonight.
Have a good day all keep warm and well. Hugs to those who need them, and those who just want themWife, mother, gardener, nurse, Big C survivor. Not as much decluttering as I would have liked in the last few days but I’ve released 47 items back into the wild so far. Hoping for a better couple of days now I’m off work.Note to self: eating biscuits doesn’t count as decluttering so stop! 😬

Not a lot of decluttering taking place at present although the downstairs needs a chamfer up this weekend as the Brit Gas engineer cometh next week to service the boiler (assuming we don’t get rescheduled due to other people having boiler issues).I’ve joined the ranks of having done a ‘random gravity test’ this year. It was last Thursday morning, about 6.15am, as I wandered through the lanes/unmade road in the dark with my head torch on (so glam) on the way to work.As I cheerfully ambled along with my work rucksack on my back I managed to find the ancient lumpy bit of tarmac that was deposited to ‘fill’ a pot hole about 30 years ago. It created a small hillock instead. Hillock combined with slippery mud sent me flying face first. As I flew through the air with the greatest of ease and then belly flopped onto the ground I remember being very thankful for, and apologetic to, my ‘extra padding’ and thinking that doing an impression of Superman wasn’t in my ‘to do’ list for the day.On the plus side the only damage done was a bruised knee (I managed to bruise above the kneecap so walking has been fine) and some grumpy obliques/ribs (not cracked ribs just muscular aches).✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)
