Today I spent 2 hours cleaning and decluttering DS’s room with him and it’s only half done! He did manage to get rid of quite a bit and to be fair, we’ve at least tidied the whole room as well. The rest will have to be done in bits over a few days when we can squeeze some time in.
I also started the kitchen, but it’s an enormous job. I just did the pasta shelf and I have so much stuff to use up, I’m not sure I’m going to progress on from there for a while (or at least for food cupboards - I could look at some of the other bits). Tiny and often will have to be the order of the day with that one. I’m hoping to have it relatively under control by Xmas 😬. Sadly the rest of the house remains a tip, but I’m just focusing on deep cleaning/decluttering little spaces and then will keep those tidy when I move on. Next up should be DD’s room and then the toys downstairs. It was all done in August, so it shouldn’t be too bad. Just lots to get through.

Rather a long delay in catching up with the cheerleading 😔 but here goes 😉
Well done vulpix 👏 Instigating social meetings, whatever next 🤗 Like you I enjoyed lockdown - more the peace & quiet rather than the lack of meeting people - all the background noise that we have become inured to was gone 🙂
Do keep up the good work with becoming more sociable - worth the effort & if you are the instigator you can control how sociable you are 😉
2Scratters, sounds like a very well planned retirement 🙂 Your GD visiting sounds wonderful - always handy to have someone around who likes decluttering 👏
You have been busy grandmanerd & very successful 👏 So pleased that you made it to art class 🙂Sounds like you had a lovely time out & about - completing plenty of tasks & reminding me of the poem Leisure by WH Davies with your stops to look around & notice your surroundings 😊 You managed to keep up the good work - sorting & arranging food stocks 👏 Good luck with getting all the problems dealt with 🍀 Excellent work tidying/sorting/rearranging - just as important as decluttering 👏 & good luck with the ‘elephant’ of getting DS3 & Beloved settled into their own home 🍀 Thank you so much for sharing your life with us - a hard one but tackled with grace & dignity 😊 Sending lots of positive vibes that the ‘elephant’ can be tackled swiftly & you can get your own space back 🙂
Great work vulpix 👏
“Wouldn't it be great if we could teleport ourselves to each others houses, then sort through and choose what we could use ourselves ! “ What a brilliant idea Catsacor 🥳
grandmanerd, I would have loved to see that insurance salesman’s face 😂
nannywindow, too many people jammed into one room is the stuff of nightmares 😬 Nothing wrong with escaping to another room 🙂 Hope the shoes didn’t hurt too much 🤞
Floss, you have definitely earned your own home & choice of companion 😊
Thanks for that weenancy 👏 I have saved the link & will investigate 🙂
You definitely have the bit between your teeth grandmanerd 👏 You are completing a copious amount of work - decluttering & tidying 👏 Please take care not to injure yourself with all the heavy duty lifting & rearranging 🙏
The pencil extender will be in the last place you look, TC77 😉
gocurlygirl, I see vulpix explained ‘frogs’. If you look on page 1 of the Weekly Flylady thread you can see a large number of abbreviations explained - some of which are used here on the decluttering thread.
Yippee mhagster 🥳 congratulations on the sale of house 1 👏 even if it took longer than anticipated 😔 Excellent decluttering & a well done on making a plan of action 👏
Lovely post vulpix 😊 Fingers crossed that it was the last day of road workers & that your internal organs will stop vibrating 😉🤞Great work on reducing your craft stash 👏 Good job you & bit_by_bit are friends 😅
Thanks florianatwobob - I sometimes think that the first ‘d’ could stand for dotty 😉
Thanks fritzie-65 👏 Never realised what EDL meant 🙂
Siebrie I rather like your interpretations ‘dumb or duh’ 😂
Quite agree vulpix 😂😂😂😂😂
Great work on the electronic decluttering, short_bird 👏
You have been busy EnergyShifter 👏 Is there some technology that can boost your phone signal? Good luck with forming your new evening behavioural change 🍀 Great decluttering 👏
Excellent decluttering nannywindow 👏 I will keep everything crossed that your next burst of energy comes sooner rather than later 😉🤞
Thanks for posting the link to FlyLady thread grandmanerd 👏 Excellent decluttering 👏 & good news that the leaking water problem appears to have been sorted out 🙂
florianatwobob - ‘daft’ is good 😉
Good work TC77 👏
daisy_1571, how about ‘dopey’ 😉
Excellent work in DS’s room QueenJess 👏 I am sending DS a medal 🏅 as he is becoming a good declutterer 🙂 Very good tactic - little & often 👏 Eventually all the small areas will meet up & you will suddenly realise the whole house has been decluttered 😊
I have caught up with the cheerleading but am off to bed & will report later on Friday’s very joyous day 🥲

Good morning all xx
DS is calling this morning- and will be leaving with two bags of stuff. 😉
I'm meeting L for coffee on Wednesday- and will take three bags of stuff for her to pass on to her sister's church's thrift shop in Lincoln. 😊
That'll be the bulk of last week's labours out of the house. Just the part bag of rags and the ever growing pile of shredding left here.
Clean slate ready to start again 😊 And I'm on Annual Leave now until 8th November...rolling my sleeves up in anticipation 🙃
The only thing that's moved since my last post is the clock from the toy farm - which has been removed from the kitchen worktop and placed in mmas bag. Gave myself a few days off to concentrate on the paid stuff and chill a bit as I was rather tired...always am the week before my Leave.
While the kettle was boiling for my brew this morning I tore up some cardboard to be recycled, and rinsed some cans ready for recycling too.
Spotted a PlayStation game control in the kitchen worktop- so that's going into one of DS's bags. Then I'll go up and get dressed.
It's tipping with rain here - perfect stay in and declutter weather 😊

Welcome @[Deleted User]
Thankyou for that update @Mrs_Salad_Dodger Very rustrating and annoying. Very pleased with those numbers. Will update later.
Congrats on the house sale @mhagster
@vulpix - I think I am definitely carrying that baton right now although less and less so. DH did rescue a pair of totectors from a skip over the road this morning
I am with you on the mindless netflix @EnergyShifter. I am trying to crochet blankets for various gifts but get bored. Still addicted to Korean stuff although I can read the subtitles and work at the some time. I think the netflix will go once the blankets are done.
Don't be down @QueenJess. anything is better than nothing and the way you are doing things will still get things done.
Popped by to see @vulpix yesterday. Thanks for listening. I needed it.
I was on the way to see SiL and her husband and check out the situation. The dogs are groomed but need nails cutting. They are small to medium and quiet and calm even to me, a stranger. I was relieved becasue they look like they are staying. I started dealing with tome frogs to do with care. Will continue Monday.
After that went to visit DD with 3 bags. One with Christmas decorations, One with the completed blanket (picture to follow) and the third with candles but also a camping cooker for water heating, just in case of failure over winter. I feel a lot happier knowing she can now manage should the lights go out and the heating go off.
So 3 bags out and two in but will be out again once I go to the CS for my afternoon shift.

The finished blanket for DD. I had attached all the squares wrong so took it to bits, re joined it and added and edge.

Final total for yesterday 21. Some things binned (tools so rusty they wouldn't move, 6 duplicates into their tool box, 7 items in the baby's box and WM up and running.
This morning I did mum's tax return and have walked to the GPO as our post box is collected at 9 am on Saturdays (GPO is open and last collection is 12.30). Will do more later but have been watching a film (started it a week ago) whilst eating my lunch. Bought a few items whilst out, £13 food spend which will help me through until I decide to have a food delivery (may try to go back to one delivery every 10 days as I'm on a mission to use up mum's supplies).
So 22 (including the tax return), used up a stamp and an envelope too (knew I had both and was determined not to buy more - mum had saved all the extra envelopes from cards, I started the year with hundreds of them). 694/ 2022 (forgot the 3 full bags that went into the bins - the extras from yesterday topped them to the brim)8 -
DS has left the building with his two bags of goodies. We also went through a small pile of PC games and CDs - DS has taken 1, 2 are now in cs bag, and 3 have been binned and packaging recycled. 1 is in mmas bag as he says it's part of a set.
Chippy papers have been binned - DS stayed for lunch. 😊
What a lovely way to start my Leave.

Now for my joyous Friday 😊 DH got up before 8:00 a.m. to have a bath (DSis & I had ours Thursday evening as we knew we would have trouble waking up any earlier than 8:00 😬) We all had a cuppa, got dressed, left the house at 8:50, gentle stroll to DLR station (dry, bright & warm), tapped in at 9:02 a.m. & caught a train 2 minutes later. A good start to our journey 👏 Into Bank, tediously long up & down walk to Central Line, short wait for train to Liverpool Street then transfer to main line station. Arrived with 15 minutes to spare & boarded train to Bishop’s Stortford. Pleasant uneventful 38 minute journey, arriving with plenty of time to get to the church for the baptism. Turns out we were on the same train as my cousin’s daughter & her partner who we bumped into on the platform. Quick catch up, then they walked to the church (young & fit 😉) we took a cab (old & unfit 😅) so were the first to arrive - usually we are the last 😉 The rest of the party arrived in small groups & we entered the church as a full complement. Wonderful priest, Father Antonio who took the time to explain the service. It was the first time I have ever attended a christening where the baby was awake & did not grizzle or cry once. (My DSis’s son slept through his 😂) Father Antonio was very surprised & grateful 😉 When the service finished there was plenty of time for photos & catching up before walking to the restaurant for lunch @ Pircio (Mediterranean & Italian food) booked for noon. The food was delicious 🤤 A lively party - tables lined up with 14 people, a gap & then 8 people. Lots of laughter & chat & I was lucky enough to be sat next to my uncle who told me a few new stories about my mum - I do not have the words to describe the joyous feeling I had - he brought mum back to life with various memories of mum as a child & young woman - my heart was singing 🥹 He also reminded me of the time when he brought me back to the U.K. from Italy (in his MGB) when I was about 5 (I did remember driving through the Black Forest 😊). Sadly I think that might be frowned on now - a single man with a young girl 😔 😉 Typically for a mainly Italian descended group of people we managed to extend the lunch to about 3:15 p.m. 😂 The cake - made by baby’s mum was brought out for photos & then sliced & bagged for eating at home.
Every item of decoration was handmade including the bees 😊 The three of us walked back to the station after all the farewells, missed the 4:00 p.m. train but only had to wait until 4:23. Another pleasant journey back, Circle line to Monument, DLR & bus home with very short waits between each change 🙂 Arrived home exactly 9 hours after leaving - Very tired but oh so happy 😃 & the weather had been glorious all day 👏 Had Chinese takeaway for dinner - always enough for 2 nights so no cooking for me on Saturday 😉 The cake not only looked good but was delicious 😋
1841 - 1842 Kitchen recycling & detritus.
Saturday is another warm & sunny day. Have had a lovely chat with neighbour - her son’s gardening exploits were more successful than mine - a couple of chillies & some tomatoes & carrots 👏 DH has just made himself a bacon sarnie & I am ‘planning’ a bit of decluttering 😉😉
1843 - 1844 Two magazines recycled
Excellent work roundtuit - always great when the bags leave the house 👏 Enjoy your day of decluttering 🙂 A great start 👏
Lovely post bit_by_bit 😊 What a busy bee you are 👏 Beautiful blanket 😻
Excellent work grandmanerd 👏 You are on a mission & are being very successful 🙂
Definitely a lovely way to start your leave roundtuit 😊 A visit from DS, lunch & then more bags out of the house 👏
First order of business is to sort out two days mail 😉
