Thanks to this thread (and others on this forum) I am in full-on "declutter" mode. Which is all very well to a degree, especially when it comes to big clear outs of cupboards, wardrobes and chests of drawers etc.
However, my partner is becoming just a tad irritated trying to find things that I have subsequently either chucked out or put some other place and forgotten about, such as an old pair of hair straighteners, which I thought were mine (and binned), but turns out they were hers!
I think some coordinated planning is now required for future decluttering otherwise I might find myself "chucked out" lol12 -
Zola I seem to be following you around but I'm not honestly 😄 We just must have very similar interests, and Oh dear to your OH's hair straighteners 😱 I have the same problem with DH so I have to ask " can this go? " umpteen times.
I didn't do much decluttering over the weekend so yesterday I read and decluttered 43 emails and emptied all the bins. I said goodbye to my little houseguest ( I had Teddy rabbit while DD and family went on hols ) However I won't miss cleaning the mess I came down to every morning though, hay and sawdust all over the floor 😲 He seemed such a quiet little thing by day but when night time comes he must turn into a party animal 😂
I mowed the meadow lawn yesterday so it looks much better and today I did some weeding including the patio, now where do all the weeds come from? and how do they find the smallest of cracks in which to grow? DH wanted to sort his shed too this morning so I offered to help him but he wasn't very well and had to go back into the house for a lie down, so only a bag of detritus was collected and binned. I'm afraid to declutter in there on my own as I don't know what's what. Sadly he doesn't seem to be able to physically do a lot since his treatment last year 😟
I shall finish off the leftover lamb casserole with a jacket potato for my tea, waste not want not 😁 and DH just wants a sausage roll as he couldn't face lamb again, so his loss my gain 😋 It was quite a large leg of lamb but it gave us and my Dad so many meals.
Hope everyone is well, hugs if not as I know some people are struggling with illness and daily life.
Take care fellow declutterers, till the next time........
nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12 -
Successful day today and I managed to join a woodland walk group for the first time. Tried several times but something got in the way. DS2 just cooked me a nice chicken curry - not something I would ever cook but I enjoy one occasionally. Decluttered the children mid morning but I'd better not count that.
Washing machine started making ominous noises including clunking and squeaking Also covered swimming towels in black marks. Found paperwork thinking I had had it 6 years or so and it was 11 years old which is about the limit for washing machines. Today's job was to declutter money for new one.
615 Paperwork for old washing machine recycled
616 Found book for radio which has already gone so that was recycled
617-646 Three large bags of assorted rubbish from mine and DS2's garage to tip - giving myself 10 points a bag
647-649 Three items for auction pile at recycling tip
650-651 Two large boxes of recycled paper
652 Various plastic lids and broken storage boxes to tip
653 Barbecue cover to tip - more annoying than useful
654-678 Bag of 25 items to CS shop - 10 hobby storage boxes, 12 books, t-lights, Unopened orchid food and plumbing kit
679 Fluorescent tube to tip
680 Random plastic and cardboard from decorating box - I did find the WD40 in there which everyone was looking for the other day
681 Weeds to compost
682 Planted more potatoes with DGS4
683 Washing machine ordered and money decluttered
684 Committee frog dealt with and posted off
685 Box of electrical bits to tip

Removed several out of date things from the freezer. No matter how often you do it there will always be something.I have a really old address book, about 15 years old and very tatty. A chaotic mess of addresses etc. So I snaffled a lovely new one from OH . Awful lot of addresses for now deceased relatives and friends, quite depressing scratching them offdetails . Amazing how long it took sorting birthdays, addresses and phone numbers, but now they are neatly transfered in an orderly fashion.I also intend noting bank details, websites, passwords, plus my bills and expenses etc so if anything happens to me there isnt chaos for the family. Howls of protest from the family that I am morbid, but its important.I'll do it all in small sections this week11

Our Easter weekend started well because our eldest cat came through her op without issues. SIL was over from Up Over so enjoyed the sunny weather.Monday arrived with a cupboard my wife had ordered for our dining kitchen. We were able then to put all our glasses and drinks bottles in it and then tidy up the kitchen worktops. Not got rid of anything but the kitchen looks a lot tidier.May you find your sister soon Helli.
Sleep well.11 -
Great work @Floss. Its very tidy now.
Well done @dustydigger . Its amazing when you start work how quickly those bags can fill up.
Well after last nights post I went to MiL house to water plants and cleared out her utility room. Was going to do this today but thought better of it. MiL is a bit of a plastics hoarder for Justin and also a recycler. There were bags and bags of the stuff plus bags and bags of bags. I did find an nice crisp tenner which I have attached to the fridge.
Today I sorted some money stuff and met up with friends for brunch. After that off to the allotment and did some good solid work. My lottie partner popped over. I took over one side of her allotment last year. We discussed a few thing about what to do with shared parts of it.
Nothing out today but happier.

Evening
Went back to work yesterday so decluttering has slowed down. However i did sell a freestanding mirror on Fb for £12, thought i'd asked £10 so i'm glad i checked! Been in the office today and took 5 empty crisp packets which went in the recycling tub.
Also continuing to declutter emails.

Tuesday night’s dinner was oven chips & peas with ham for DSis, ham & fried eggs for DH & fried eggs for me. Wudupa.
Wednesday was a bright sunny day - warm in the sun but still chilly in the shade. The only things I did today was to go to sm for a small shop (only person wearing a mask on the bus & in the sm 😔) & have a bath and wash my hair. Dinner was fried chicken, boiled potatoes & sweetcorn 😋 DSis wudupa 👏
669 - 672 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans, newspaper, hotel sized toiletry - recycled
673 - 674 Kitchen & lr detritus - binned
EnergyShifter, I generally leave that sort of thing to my DH - joking 🙃, sort of 😉 but like you I am not a ‘grown up’ when it comes to dealing with tradesmen. So well done on spending a whole morning discussing double glazing 👏 Remember the upheaval will pay for itself in reduced bills 🤞
Nice to see you bit_by_bit 👋 Sorry to hear that your ‘mood remains low’ but very well done on getting so much done 👏 you have been so busy that I am awarding you a Gold Star ⭐️ The family meet up seems to have gone reasonably well with you acting as mediator 🤞 What a lovely bright spot - seeing Mamma Mia & then remembering something that brings a smile to your face 🙂
florianatwobob, good for you planning ahead 👏

Well done on tackling emails nannywindow 👏 and weeding the patio 👏 Loved hearing about the party rabbit 😄 Sorry to hear that DH hasn’t recovered as much as he & you would like 😔 Sending healing vibes his way & hugs to you.
GrannyKate, hope you enjoy your woodland walks 🙂 Ouch to the expense of a new washing machine but you had sterling service from your old one 👏 Excellent decluttering & nice to see a few more pennies in the coffers 👏
Good work sorting freezer contents dustydigger 👏 That is the sad thing about transferring data from one place to another - you suddenly realise how many family & friends have gone ☹️ Not morbid at all dustydigger - just practical & sensible 🙂
