Water bills are interesting, I paid more than I do now on an inland meter than when I lived on my own in a coastal county with metered water. I paid half of this when I lived in a tiny inland terrace with a rateable value bill. I did not allow for this when we moved! My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

i feel for those who are spotted by in laws etc. I try not to post views about others for this reason.
Covid geezer turned up - they've reduced the number of questions they ask, and have FINALLY got rid of the ridiculous one asking 'how many hours a day, on average, have you spent within 2 metres of the person you live with, including sleeping' 😂😂 Never quite knew how to answer that. Never got round to measuring the sofa either like I kept threatening to 😂
We didn't get asked to do the finger !!!!!! this time anyway, so no need to refuse.
Gosh it's windy round here today, and set to get worse i think 😮😮17 -
Stay safe, Cheery; it's not bad down here till Friday, but everything north of London, even, sounds terrible.
Can't help thinking what you were writing about actual Covid tests that got censored out 🤣 and that question is *extremely* weird!2023: the year I get to buy a car11 -
😂😂😂 er, punching a hole in one's own finger with a needle test! 😁😂
And yes, an extremely stupid question. My friend is in the same study - she answered 2 hours, and on the same day her husband answered 24! 😂 I usually just say 12 - probably 6 asleep at the same time, some sofa, some car, and a few handing over cups of tea 😂
The 'have you left the UK since we last saw you?' question always makes me laugh too - I haven't left the UK since 2017! 😂12 -

Cheery, I'm very glad that the new tablets seem to be doing the trick. I had a 'hystericalectomy' at the age of 40 and was very glad to see the back of it all.
I agreed to do 2 lots of finger-stabbing when I tested +ve for Covid - but swore 'never again' as I struggled to get enough blood and my fingers were sore for days afterwards. Why is that, when an accidental jab will bleed on for ages?!It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.
'Wonder' - to feel curious.9 -
Goodness knows hb - although I never really bleed when I cut myself, it's one of my superpowers 🙄😂 Caused trouble once because I had a tooth out now it didn't bleed, so didn't clot, and I ended up with dry socket 😮 not to be recommended!
Yawn, another day in front of the computer, trawling through my job form. You'd think there would be nothing to do t this point, but you'd be wrong (to be fair, half of the day was spent on actual work 😂)
Oh, and I sorted out the car insurance. It was set to auto renew, but with the bank card that cancelled. We've got a policy for each car with the same provider - managed to log in online for one, and fully comprehensive was only another £30. Added protected no claims as we had it for one car but not the other, then had another sudden fit of risk averseness and added legal cover. 🙄
Honestly. II don't know where all this risk averseness is coming from at the minute. I've never had fully comprehensive insurance, never protected a no claims bonus, never had legal cover, and everything has always been fine 🙄
Anyway, there was enough in the insurance pot, but I did end up spending £134 more than the original renewal notice between the two policies 😱
I think maybe I'm just sick of sorting things out, and I want some reassurance that if anything does go wrong, I've got a number I can ring and someone will help me 🙄 I mean, I hope to goodness i don't ever need any of it! I did draw the line at 'comprehensive plus' which had a free hire car while yours was being fixed and European cover 😂
Anyway. I did put them both on the credit card as I'd run the current account right down with not drawing anything out of premium bonds for the gas bill or the house insurance, so at least there will be a small bit of cashback!
Anyway, not going to think about it any more, it's done now, and if adding legal cover to the car insurance is as extravagant as I get then it's not that bad really 😂😂
Right, going to bed. Put the recycling out with rocks on top so hopefully that will survive the storm. Meant to move the cars slightly more out of the way of the trees but I didn't in the end 🙄 let's hope that nothing happens! More concerned about losing power again when I'm trying to finish my job form! 😂14 -
I think becoming more risk averse can be a bad side effect of getting a bit older, but also we have been reading more & more about people getting (polite version) seriously messed with which has made their lives turn a bit nasty. How did so many people get to become so unpleasant? Everybody on here is lovely, but unfortunately not everyone IRL is the same. I had a car acident 5 years ago & not just the driver but his 2 passengers lied through their teeth (I didn't expect to accept responsibility as his insurance would not have been happy). I was so lucky that the bodywork evidence proved me right but the outcome could have been so different.

Oof, your recycling - rocks are good! My recycling collection is tomorrow morning, and I decided not to put the bin out in the end - no big rocks around, lots of cars around, and there's such a slope on the road, it could travel a looong way2023: the year I get to buy a car9 -
I would expect a hire car as standard with comprehensive cover, that's not a "plus" thing for me - I mean, how are you going to get around without a car 🤷♀️? Mine was in the garage for about 10 days a couple of years ago after someone reversed into me, I definitely needed a car then! Maybe that's just something I automatically look for when they show you all the ticks and crosses of what's included (I always include windscreen cover too) 🤔? I have the joy of shopping for mine at the weekend, so will look more closely!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
