It's definitely a nuisance having the loo downstairs, but wasn't a deal breaker for us when we were looking for a new house (might be next time though 😂). I think the thing that's most annoying is getting dressed! I tend to take clothes downstairs and then leave them there if I get changed, so by the end of the week, the bathroom is just full of clothes 🙈😂
There is a second loo slightly closer to the bedroom, just down the stairs, and not up another set - Mr Cheery does use that one during the night, but we use it as a storage space so it's full of boxes and shoes and tools and recycling so I'd prefer not to 😂 It's also got no heating and no window, so it's always freezing. But ok in an emergency (although any emergency that involves the loo means I'd usually prefer to be in the nicer/warmer one 😂).
So. Off work today, and my main priority is to get a good deal of job interview prep done (which feels rather like work, but still 🙄).
Good progress has been made on the bookshelves in the study - all the brackets are now up! 😃 Delighted with this. Not perfect, but it's my first ever attempt at putting shelves up (not sure how I've avoided this so far with the amount of DIY I've done - that's often what people do first! 😂). Got to saw a couple of ends, and screw the wood to the brackets in a couple of places, and then I can get the books on! 😃 Definitely a pottering nice job for the weekend.
Will also involve a bit of a sort through the books I think - I spotted a few yesterday that I don't feel the need to keep, so I might use Ziffit to easily get rid.
Mr Cheery has a decent stash of old ladybird books to get rid of so there's some investigation to be done there. Not sure he'll have the patience to sell them individually, and most of them won't be worth much, but there are well over 100 so they may well be worth a bit! Anyway, for now, I'm not getting involved.

So, a plan for today.
MORNING
* gentle workout (weights only, no bouncing around 😂)
* possibly a sneaky daytime bath with a book 🤭 My cold is on it's way out but I reckon I'd still benefit from some steam 😁
* start reading printed stuff for job prep
* get something into the hay box for lunch
AFTERNOON
* start ebay return for boots
* finish reading job docs
* create document re job prep to gather all info about organisation one place - people, roles, missions, priorities, funding, activities etc
* create another doc about the interview - possible questions, examples for use in answers, relevant advice about interviewing etc (I've actually only ever had two interviews for this type of job - while both were successful, it hasn't given me much experience of interviews 😂)
* create a third doc about me - future plans is going to be a big thing for discussion I think so I need to make sure I am considerably less vague than I am at the minute!
EVENING
* neighbours are coming for tea at 7pm 😊
Mr Cheery assures me he will be doing all tidying/cooking in relation to tonight's entertaining so I shall take him at his word, while also being on standby if needed - his health is still up and down in various ways and he's having a fair few off days, so I do mentally have a back up dinner planned if necessary, and have been generally keeping on top of the housework so a quick hoover will suffice if necessary.
Right, I suppose getting out of bed would be a good start 🙄😂7 -
Am so glad that I live in a bungalow that has no weights available for me to use 😂

Good luck with the interview prep - hate to say it, but it will feel like work, and if you get it, you'd be working today! Sorry! 😂Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I might live to regret it - but in this instance I'm willing to find out 😁
Well, I am having a cheerful day 😁 Read a book in the bath, done a load of reading for job interview prep, had a cuppa in the cafe with Mr Cheery (using our vouchers so a grand total of 85p), and now back home curled up on the sofa in the study ready for more job interview prep. I was about to put on a video of a cosy study/library with fire going and rain outside when I read EH's diary about her lighting the fire, and it dawned on me that actually I have an open fire right here in this room! 😃😂😂 I very rarely light it, it's tiny and throws out very little heat, but I did have it swept recently, and bought a bag of logs just in case we had a power cut 😂
Anyway, it's now lit and providing some nice real life ambience (and no real heat, but a nice illusion of it 😂😂).
Back to the job prep. Neighbours are arriving in about 90 mins but I am going to assume Mr Cheery is going to stick to his plan of doing everything until I hear otherwise, and enjoy my own ambience 😁8 -
@Cheery_Daff, Monster used to have a useful list of job interview prep questions, from the very obvious to some more subtle ones.@Baileys_Babe, I had the having to wake in the night to use the loo. I have sorted it through a mix of female specific probiotic taken daily and a twice weekly dose of topical oestrogen - I was loosely diagnosed with interstitial cystitis and these seem to be some of the recommended ‘fixes’. Took a bit of time to settle down, but it is now vanishingly rare that I wake in the night because I need the loo.KKAs at 15.07.25:

The wood burner went on mid morning here, cat telly. 2 dogs, 4 cats snoring happily (the 5th upstairs in a nest of fleece). If I go and join them someone immediately sits on my knee.
