We love a dress up party too! 😂😂 I wore false eyelashes for the first time ever - big gold ones 😂 They were great 😁 Shopped from home (pinching that excellent term from Foxgloves 😁) - they turned up when we cleared under the bathroom sink a while back and have been waiting for an occasion. Pretty sure they were from the 70s themselves judging by the packaging 😂😂 Taken off carefully and saved for another day 😁
Nice gentle day hanging out with friend. We did go for breakfast near her so £10 spent there. We are doing an awful lot of socialising considering it's uber frugal January... 🙄 But we are at least minimising cafes when it's just us, and not having a second round of coffee so that's something.
Pottered round the charity shops. Just bought a book for work for £1.
Home now, and we didn't leave the heating on so the house is rather chilly 🥶 Heater doesn't work in the car either, so Mr Cheery has gone for a nap to try and warm up and I'm cuddling a hot water bottle oj the sofa trying to decide whether I should do a workout, or have a bath, or both 😂😂
Things to do this evening
* workout?
* bath??
* make tea (peanut noodles - and enough for lunch tomorrow)
* clear bits off desk
* remove tools from study - shelves STILL aren't up, and clearly aren't going up today, so I shall attempt the darn things tomorrow night myself 🙄 But I don't want all the tools visible in zoom meetings tomorrow
* prepare breakfast for tomorrow
* put discarded party clothes and sewing stuff away
* set out nice smart clothes for tomorrow (just working at home, but I'd got into a bad habit of being relatively casually dressed for work and I know I find it easier to focus and make decisions when I dress up a bit more!)
Question is, what order?? Mr Cheery is asleep, so no clumping around putting things away. Might start running the bath, do a quick workout while it's running, and take it from there...6 -
Can’t you blur the background for the meetings tomorrow?
Glad you had a good night and well done on the jacket customising! 👏😊

Blurring the background seems to work fairly well so could be a shout if it might save you having to take all the tools out just to take them back again? But then you might also want the room generally less cluttered to work in I guess!Your sewing of silver stuff was most effective - very shiny and glam-rock-esque! Loving the idea of the false eyelashes too - how fabulous!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I don't actually have any scheduled meetings tomorrow anyway 😂 Although who knows what will come up. I did want the room nicely uncluttered though. Tools now out, and my head scratching over what screws I'm going to buy at the DIY shop tomorrow evening prompted Mr Cheery to lend some assistance, which was gratefully received 😁 I know now exactly what I need to do, and hopefully the pesky shelves will be up by tomorrow night!
Although I confess I've never actually put shelves up before, and Mr Cheery won't be here at all, so it might take me and YouTube a little longer than it would take a competent person.
But my books have been on the floor since October 2022, so any progress is good, right?! 🙄😂
Study, kitchen, and dining room are all tidy. Living room wasn't a mess, and the craft room (which is full of cast off party outfits and sewing paraphernalia) has had the door shut on it for now 😂 Breakfast and dinner are both prepared too, and I'll put out an outfit to wear when I go to bed.
Feeling relatively organised and ready to go back to work!7 -
So, tomorrow.

20g peanut butter mixed with a bit of water and stirred through to coat, and a bit of seasoning - recipe says chilli flakes, 5g peanuts - I used sweet chilli sauce, ginger, walnuts.
Quick & easy for me, and will keep nicely in the fridge for today's lunch 😊
Awake early as I had a frightening dream 😮 Arrived far too early for my interview so went to sit in the pub 🙄 Only drinking pop, but got sidetracked by someone ordering dippy egg and soldiers and watching them eat it, that I ended up missing the interview!! 😱😱 Woke up as I was resignedly walking up there, trying to find their email and decide what excuse I could possibly come up with. I'd left makeup, hair brush, diary, notebook etc in the car and had to plough on without them, but even if they had let me interview half an hour late I knew I wouldn't get it because I was disheveled and completely unprepared- I couldn't even remember what was in their five year plan 😱😱
A nice lesson for me to get on with my preparation, which I was going to spend the whole of the Christmas holidays doing but which I haven't actually even started yet 😱9 -

Eek to that dream - definitely take it as a message to get the prep underway I'd say! Maybe swap something from today's list out for "interview prep"?!
The peanut noodles sound nice - I sometimes use a big blob of peanut butter as the sauce for a stir fry but haven't done it for a while now - so that ought to act as a good reminder to me to use the idea again as it's so tasty!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Yes, I'll be multi tasking by listening to a podcast/talk/lecture by a member of the interview panel while I put the shelves up, I think 😂 Want to get a good idea of what they're like/areas of work etc and that's a good place to start.
Back to work today, email backlog is ploughed through, and I've unsubscribed from various things - not entirely sure how I ever subscribed to daily updates from the Financial Times in the first place, to be honest 😂
Blithering freezing here today, and, as usual, my study is not quite the coldest place in the house, but verging on it 🙄 Seriously contemplating shifting to working in the craft room directly above for the winter months. There's a desk up there, not as big as mine but big enough, and I'd just need to move computer & monitor. It would mean a bed in the background of zoom meetings, but it's a single 'day bed' so with judicious placement of cushions etc it looks like a sofa.
Might sit up there for a bit this afternoon, see how much warmer it is. Same side of the house, so not loads of insulation, but no chimney, and not next to the freezing offshot/back door area, and also upstairs so generally gets a little warmer.
For now though, I'm just boiling the kettle for a second hot water bottle for my feet and I'll swap after lunch...7
