joedenise said:Try and get your cards written and posted as well @Cheery_Daff. Last posting day for 2nd class in on Monday so may as well post them at the same time as your parcels.
I felt quite tired just looking at what you'd got done yesterday! I don't know how you manage it all.
Although I'm clearly not trying very hard as I've not long written up and am still in bed 😁
JoeDenise my secret is writing lots of small things on my list 🤭😂 but yesterday was actually pretty productive. I'm finally feeling like I've recovered from being ill properly - and also the doc told me I could play around with my HRT dose a mutilation so that's certainly giving me more energy - trying to take advantage before the novelty wears off!
Speaking of which, I should probably get up...8 -
You've been annhialating those lists Cheery - well done you!
Sorry to hear Mr C Senior is poorly again too - and the dog, come to that. If someone IS that poorly though, and also that far away, there is some reassurance in them being well looked after in hospital I think, much as we tend to feel uncomfortable with that way of thinking. Hopefully someone else might volunteer to have the pooch this time if he does have to stay in for any length of time.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Oh, I'd FAR rather he was in hospital if he needs it! Sadly there is nobody else for the dog for various reasons 🙄
Fortunately, he was actually discharged while we were there yesterday - we did get a few hours sorting the house before he got home. He's getting daily visits from the health team for a bit, but he can keep the dog with him, which is probably a good thing all round.
So a long day - we didn't get back til after 11pm last night, and I was back at my office desk by 9am, which is never a good turnaround time 🙄
Went to see the private endodontist today to see about re-doing the root canal under my crown/bridge. It was a whole different experience to the normal dentist (as I'd expect, for the cost 😱). Had a scan standing in a machine which played a little tinkly tune, and it was far clearer than the normal dentist x Ray, which is what we were aiming for.
So now I have a decision to make, although it was pretty clear what decision the dentist herself would have made...
Basically all 3 roots are infected, which is why I've not been able to eat on it pretty much since they did it (which was March, but it hadn't settled since the crown/bridge the previous October) 🙄 So she could do soecialist root canal treatment, either going through the crown and trying to save that and the bridge, or dismantling it and just going through what's left of the tooth, and then fitting a new crown - which at this stage likely wouldn't be strong enough to support a new bridge, so I'd be left with a gap (filled with implant/denture).
Given the level of infection, and the minimal amount of ordinary tooth, she reckons it's quite likely to fail, which would mean I'd paid out £1200 and would lose the tooth anyway. She was pretty certain she wouldn't be able to save/ fit a new bridge, even if she could fit a new crown, so at best I'd be left with a single tooth gap.
I'm going to think about it, but it's not the straightforward decision it might have been with less infection 🙄 In reality, the option with the most certainty (and least expense!) is going back to the normal dentist for extraction (which at least gets rid of all the infection) and replacement with denture, for the time being at least, until Agent Million comes to call 😂
Sigh. Didnt plan for dentures at 43 but at least it's only a few teeth and I have the option to have implants later should finances permit 🙄5 -

Thinking positively Cheery, you need the bone to regrow post-extraction before you can have an implant anyway. So you'd have to wait.2

ouch - Cheery - that situation with your teeth is horrid - I'd be complaining about the former dentist and asking for compensation for negligence!!!! - that being said, am hoping that whichever solution you choose brings you relief from the pain as soon as possible!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! I'm inclined to agree with RT about the complaint as it does sound like all the cancelled appointments have played a huge part in the outcome here which really isn't acceptable is it. Agreed also that the main thing now is to get the infection and the pain gone, whatever comes after.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I'm in a similar situation on the teeth front and would actually appreciate the honesty. When I did the research crowns aren't really a long term solution but this certainly wasn't mentioned to me before I parted with much money for 3d printed onesMy mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Oh, rubbish news with the dentist. Perhaps go for the extractions, and put some money aside for implants once everything is healed. One way or another it sounds like you need to get rid of the infection - long term infection like that will be wearing down your immune system and won't be good for you.Live the good life where you have been planted.

Yes, Mr Cheery keeps trying to persuade me I should complain about the old dentist - but I'm not sure i have the energy, and I wouldn't want to have to find a new dentist at this point 😱 I know theoretically I shouldn't, but... Anyway, we'll see. For now, I just want the infection gone - no idea whether it's making me feel bad, but it's certainly not helping the state of the rest of my teeth 🙄
Got appointments booked in Jan to sort the left side, but now the denture will need to cover both sides, we'll have to rejig 🙄 Tempted to try and put it all off until after the job interview. Currently denture is due to be fitted 3 days before, but as I'll now also need separate extraction beforehand, it's likely I'd end up with the job interview falling after extraction and before dentures, potentially making me rather self conscious!
Anyway, a problem for another day.
So, a long week so far! Three days in work, Monday in the office, Tuesday at a work function (followed by a few hours in the pub, although I was still home by 9.30), and then today in the office. My last day, but sadly Mr Cheery collected me before I'd finished so I'll have to do a couple of hours in the morning.
We rashly went to MeadowHell 😱 It actually wasn't that bad, although there were a couple of shops i didn't even bother looking in as I wouldn't have wanted to stand in the queue. But we bought most of the remainder of our presents, which is great, as we are running out of time!
Rest of the week looks like this now...
Thurs 21st - Mr Cheery to see his dad, I'll finish the last of the Christmas shopping, and plan, buy and start preparing for guests
Fri 22nd - solstice bonfire (although given the weather forecast we'll be sat round a candle in a freezing cold kitchen at this rate 🙄😂). 5 people coming, 4 probably staying over (although none confirmed yet)
Sat 23rd - breakfast with guests, then they'll likely go home
Sun 24th - no plans, neighbour and young child usually pop fmround for an hour while mum wraps presents 😂
Mon 25th - travel to Mr Cheery's family for dinner
Tuesday 26th - day off
Wed 27th - race
I haven't made any plans for after that, and don't intend to. No idea what days I'm going to my family, possibly the weekend but we'll see.
Wind is howling round outside, I don't like it. Too many trees round here, and we have one that shows NO sign of being unstable but I'm convinced it could take out the living room if it wanted 🙄😂
Hot water bottle is full and we're keeping phones charged and torches handy in case the power lines go down. Very tiresome, especially since they switched the landlines to plug into the router rather than the wall. That was the only thing we had access to in a power cut, but now we don't have that - literally no point having a landline now 🙄
Anyway, list for tomorrow!6
