Can confirm that they do indeed sell the most delicious everything, one of the ladies I worked with lived near Luton and on festival days would be 'late in' because she would camp outside Ambalas to get the freshest delicacies to share with us all.

Thanks for that @fannyadams - the name certainly rings a bell. I will make a point of investigating in the future though!
Cheery, I hope you're feeling vaguely better this morning - it sounds pretty horrible! I was going to suggest a drink in Manchester, but maybe another time!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I hope you managed to get some good sleep in, Cheery, and that you rest as much as you need - everything else can wait until after Berlin, you *want* that holiday!2023: the year I get to buy a car6

I do indeed very much want that holiday, even though it's only for 3 days! themadvix said:Thanks for that @fannyadams - the name certainly rings a bell. I will make a point of investigating in the future though!

I'm still in bed 😕 Slightly better night although still fitful and feverish, this is definitely on the flu side of things rather than a cold 😕 felt very rough earlier this morning, but tablets have kicked in now, and I've had another sleep. Mr Cheery has found me a fresh duvet, mine is damp and disgusting and has gone to air a bit 🙄
Very tiresome, but here we are. Didn't even feel up to doing the Happy wheel last night 😱😂
Mr Cheery just brought me tea and four white chocolate buttons. He obviously thinks I'm looking slightly better as I got 14 yesterday, so my rations have gone down 😂7 -
Feel better soon Cheery 💐 I do feel Mr Cheery should be a bit more generous with those buttons. Maybe you'll get a further ration later 🤞

Sorry to hear you are ill - and you are being limited on the chocolate buttons

on Drummond street behind Euston also there are all the best central london Indian spice shops - Indian friends go there to stock up biweekly as apparently spices should not be bought in bulk as they go off - (there’s me with old herbs hanging around it’s almost like a retirement home in my herb cupboard)
Berlin yeah! Take serious warm clothes scarves gloves hats attached to jackets - it’s now a v open city so lots of wide streets for the cold wind from what feels like Alaska to whistle down .. that wind makes it much colder than you think. Hopefully the weather will be bright and dry for you
DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Ha, I'd eat the whole packet in one day given the opportunity, but he can spin a packet out for a week 😂5

We would have been quite happy to travel - not staying in the centre anyway (but a random suburb), but it definitely sounds like you need to stay at home and make sure you’re better for Berlin. Agree with LaPlan about it being very cold there (although as we didn’t have any heating in our Airbnb, I may be prejudiced).
The chocolate buttons talk reminds me of my great nan - when we visited as young children we were given a Malteser each. If we were good (at least I imagine that was the criteria!), we’d get another one… the question is, did the pack last weeks (months?) or did she scoff the rest once we’d gone?! 😂Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Ha, I bet she finished them off when you left - the naughtier you were, the more she had left 😂😂

Hope you're feeling better soon cheery with a bit of enforced rest (rations of chocolate buttons need increasing though, 4!!? What's that about). I'd put in a complaint if I were you!7
