It was the only positive thing we found on the report 😁. On the back of the EPC, within a few years they insulated the loft, did the roof (new battening, felt etc), installed double glazing throughout and did the cavity wall insulation which made a huge difference. Now living in a 200+ year old stone cottage so obviously we're gluttons for punishment 🤣6

A good rest sounds good to me

Right, I have spent a happy hour in the cafe creating myself a massive detailed list of switch-rekated actions 😂😂 I can start them today, so that's what I'll do once we're home, and once that ball has started rolling, we can investigate Mr Cheery's NI list - I'm likely going to lose the will for anything financial after that, so will start with banks 😂
Fingers crossed!4 -

Thanks Beanie 😊
First stage done. Have applied for L account for me, and instigated switch. Ominously, it said it didn't have the same address for me as my previous bank, but didn't give me an option to change it at that point 🙄 L is missing the village/Street bit, which I DID enter (although had to do it manually as it didn't pick it up on the address finder). Anyway, there was nothing I could do, and it does say it's accepted the switch, so if it then refuses I'll quibble later.
Also opened an S account for me - had to record a little verification video so they need to check that before it's full open. Then I'll set up 2 DDs and instigated a switch to B.
Just getting another cuppa then we'll do the same process for Mr Cheery!6 -
Sounds like all the wheels are in motion for the switcheroos - I always found it looked massively complicated but when I was actually doing them it is just one thing after another.Start mortgage date: August 2022; Start mortgage amount: £240,999; Original mortgage free date: August 2056

I remember years ago having a few accounts which needed to be "serviced" in order to have access to linked regular savers. The first three days of the month was like bagatelle with money pinging from one account to another to meet the minimum income requirements before being up back where it started.5

It's probably time that I set up a new Sant account ready for switching somewhere at some stage - I've been steering well clear of anything like that since the end of last year of course because of moving and the requirement to appear to be the sort of person lenders might like - which presumably I was, or at least someone who FD liked anyway! I can't be bothered with the ones that want 2 DDs set up though - so that generally limits me a bit. The actual process itself has always been very easy though.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I'm going down the route of setting up a couple of small charity donations - certainly not moving any of our main ones. Not holding my breath until any of it's actually done! 😂 Certainly as the first bank said our address didn't match that of our existing bank 🙄 Entered the right info for Mr Cheery too and it said the same thing. Wil definitely be quibbling if they don't accept it - I entered it EXACTLY as it's entered with the other bank (since that is, you know, our actual address...).
Anyway, fiasco of a day so far. Wanted to spend the whole day in the office, Mr Cheery had to be somewhere this afternoon, and then we're both meeting friends for tea tonight. Aimed to leave home about 7.30. Woke 6am with dire period pain, got on the sofa with a hot water bottle, slept til 8 and decided I needed a bit longer, so ended up sleeping til about 9. Mr Cheery wasn't as ready as he thought, so it then took another 2 hours to leave, and he hadn't factored in time to drop me off 🙄 so I ended up dropping HIM off and bringing the car to work with me.
Finally got here, just making a cuppa. They've had far more hours out if me than they've paid me for these last couple of weeks though, so it all works out in the end. Lots to do this afternoon though!7
