How awful for Mr Cheery, I feel really upset for him. My fight instinct is rather overwhelming when similar things have happened to me. I would have pushed or punched him personally, and if any further action had taken place I would have said I was merely responding to the physical assault, but then, I am a stroppy old bag
- easier for a woman though

Excellent news on the LPG situation Cheery - it's great to hear that all the work and upheaval are paying off already! I do love it when it turns out you've over budgeted for something and get to have the choice of where to reallocate the funds to!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thanks SL - he's more argumentative than me, but very much not in the habit of punching people! 😮😂
And yes EH, I am enjoying the prospect of reshuffling - in fact I might do it tonight, without even waiting for Monday Finances day 😁 Payday next Tuesday, and I'm looking forward to allocating things then too 😁 I like it that my wages come in mid month, and Mr Cheery's pension at the end - two opportunities for playing with the budget 😁
Did I say Mr Cheery found a smoothie maker in a charity shop for £6 yesterday? We have a lot of smoothies, but use the blender, which is a pain to clean and which doesn't make things very smooth 😂😂 This is one that has two individual cups - you attach the blades to the cup itself, turn it upside down to blend, then replace the blade with a lid and leave the blade and other cup for the next person. Most satisfactory! Used up some of the pineapple in the fridge this morning in mine - it's been sat there since my family visited and was in danger of going off...10 -

Excellent smoothie making find from MrC there! Hopefully that balanced out the rather less pleasant aspect of his trip out, too!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

PP, I think you might be thinking you're on your own thread 😂 I mean, you are of course very welcome to hang out and talk about steamers here - I can't join in, as I have an iron, but it's so old it doesn't have any kind of steam function 😂 - but you might want to pop back and explain to the other people who were talking about it on your thread cos they might be missing you 😁
*stops whispering*
Thank you all for your kind words. You're so right about those sticking far more than the good ones!Original mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.

What a horrible experience for Mr C 😱. There’s some nasty peeps out there. Hope he’s ok, as a fellow conflict avoider I can appreciate his shakiness ☹️☹️Original mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.

Evening MSE chums 😊😊
Another long one here, visiting Mr Cheery's dad (might just start calling him FIL since I suppose technically he is 😂)
We left at 8.30am, got back about 10pm, and actually it felt like a shorter day than last time, although it wasn't really. We were more prepared this time though. Had a trip round B&Q, supermarket and a homeward shop getting supplies - I might suggest we do that here next time and make better use of the time we're there.
I did manage to paint a couple of walls and a ceiling though (all the time thinking of our own bedroom ceiling which still needs its final coat 🙄). Also fixed his glasses, and Mr Cheery did many other things.
I think we'll be going regularly for the next few weeks so I want to think about food a bit better - we had breakfast here, I took a smoothie for lunch, but then after that we just shared a bag of crisps and a twirl in the car 🙄 and it was too late to eat when we got back. Need to plan a little better I think - never feel like eating as we're leaving, but I certainly could have eaten more than crisps if it was in the car.
Anyway. Plumber is coming at 8.30 tomorrow so need to be up bright and early. Need to get and post something for my dad's birthday- goodness knows what. Also need to figure out something for Christmas for him, and a time to take it over - possibly next Friday.
Invited some friends round for pizza tomorrow, so I think we will go on a little supermarket trip for yeast 😂 and to top up the fruit and veg supplies properly (we did buy pears today).
Not sure ththere'much else to report. I'll do banks etc tomorrow I think - I'm trying to keep track separately of what we're spending for FIL rather than counting it in our food etc budget. Not that I mind of course, very glad to be able to do it - but I don't want it messing up my uber frugal January targets! 🙄😂😂15 -
Cheery, perhaps it would be worth batch cooking something Cheery-FiL would like so you could eat it with him? He might appreciate the company at a shared meal even if he didn’t eat much of it himself. It would also be nice for Mr Cheery to break-bread with his dad?
glad the day didn’t feel as long this time and I hope you have a nice weekend

I would second @KajiKita with the batch cooking. Perhaps you could have your main meal at lunchtime with FIL and then have a "picnic" of sandwich, quiche, fruit etc in the car going home.
You can't live on a smoothie and pack of crisps for long - and not particularly healthy.
