*whispers quietly*
PP, I think you might be thinking you're on your own thread 😂 I mean, you are of course very welcome to hang out and talk about steamers here - I can't join in, as I have an iron, but it's so old it doesn't have any kind of steam function 😂 - but you might want to pop back and explain to the other people who were talking about it on your thread cos they might be missing you 😁
*stops whispering*
Thank you all for your kind words. You're so right about those sticking far more than the good ones!9 -
Cheery I am amazed at the ignorance and arrogance of people.
I went in a supermarket for the first time since Omicron yesterday. Old woman (I am nearly 62 so I mean old old) no mask, stood 4 inches behind me and then reached for something right beside me, sorry to be personal but if Covid is passed on through the mouth and nose she had the Disney version of a witches nose, it was huge.
Then the mother (unmasked) with a child about 9 on a scooter ( in a shop???) also unmasked, running around the aisles and the childs nose was dripping snot!
Then 2 youngish ones (mid twenties) decided to go the wrong way round the shop, walking up the supposedly socially distanced check out line, both unmasked!
I have an exemption from mask wearing but I grin and bear it and wear one anyway but I often wonder why I bother. When I finally got to the checkout the check out lady had a mask but under her nose.
Needless to say I will not be going back to any shop anytime soon
Mind you when you look at the arrogance of Bojo (it's my party and I'll lie if I want to), Prince Charles (travelled from England to Balmoral via my hometown with confirmed Covid with no court case like other people are facing) and d*c*head tennis players then we do not exactly have role models for good behaviour8 -
It is weird isn't it. There is a small precinct locally with just 3 stores. In 2 of them virtually everybody wears masks & behaves considerately, but the third one is a nightmare, hardly any masks, people bumping into you. I don't go in there, it just isn't worth the possible trouble.

Thanks all 😊 Of course some people have exemptions, and I would never challenge anyone not wearing one because you just never know (although I suspect not everyone who isn't wearing one has an exemption). But I also don't think it's unreasonable to want to keep your distance from ANYONE at the minute, especially someone not wearing a mask. If they have an exemption for a health condition I'm sure they'd understand and appreciate the reasons.
Anyway, I suspect this guy might have just found another reason to be unpleasantness any case.
Anyway, let's put such unpleasant thoughts out of mind. Not that I have anything to replace them with. I lost £2.60 doing MB this evening, so back down to £57. Prolific at £3.73 and no further studies today. No word from granite guy still 🙄 Everything's at a bit of a standstill!
BUT, on the good side...
* we still haven't been shopping, except for the milk I bought in the corner shop today
* nowhere near breaking into the £600 I put aside from January income for savings
* the LPG bill just arrived, and at £536 it's less than I anticipated. I have £1000 in the pot so can repurpose some of that. Shouldn't need a top up til at least March/April, and then that should be it til next winter. Looks like the combination of a working thermostat, a kitchen and bedroom ceiling, and not having any single glazed windows is doing a good job!
Plans for the rest of the week.
THURS - working, and a PT session booked for 5.30
FRI - might be heading to Mr Cheery's dad's again
SAT - plumber coming to fit the electric water heater - that will be £200 plus fitting costs but that can come out of the £1000 I allocated for the remaining kitchen work
SUN - meeting a friend for lunch and a walk about an hour away, and then band rehearsal in the evening - although I might not go on this occasion, I don't want to be rushing back from seeing friend, trying to take care to be a bit more restful...
Food wise, we should probably get some fresh veg at some point. Might make a list and take the vouchers to the supermarket on Saturday night (Rock n roll 😂)
Pasta was ok tonight, unwisely added sprouts to it and got impatient so they weren't as cooked as I'd like 🙄 But there's enough for both meals tomorrow, so it's tough. Not putting it in the freezer though - I'm done with unappetising freezer meals - if I've delving in the freezer for tea it's because I'm rushed or tired, and I've decided to guarantee myself I'll get something nice 😁14 -
Quite right to look forward, rather than the reverse, once it's dealt with, I like that
and nice to be mindful of needing a bit of restfulness, even though the things you're trying to pack in are all enjoyable in themselves.
Aren't sprouts annoying thoughsince you're not freezing the mix, any chance you can chop them up before you heat them next time? And I'm loving the idea of only nice food going into the freezer, yay
2023: the year I get to buy a car8 -
I already chopped them up and fried them, just clearly not for long enough 🙄 they're not inedible, just a bit more firm than I'd prefer 😂 Maybe after they've sat in the fridge overnight in the sauce, and then been through the microwave, they'll be the perfect texture!11
