The ticket said 'sold as seen' which made me examine it minutely expecting a major fault but could't see anything obvious. The sales woman said she thought it was cos the fleece jacket that zips in was missing....anyhoo it seemed a bargain at £6, (price of a cup of coffee and a maple twist at Hall's!!). Will now officially retire my 25 year old Goretex that has done half of the Coast to Coast, The Dalesway and the bottom bit of The Pennine Way as well as much of The Yorkshire Dales and Calderdale....happy days!!
You might find that any other fleece will zip in just as easily. I've done that in the past when the proper fleece had got soaked somehow.
Hmmmmm....just found out why the 'Sold as seen' on the ticket!!!!! Why didn't I attempt to do the main zip up??? *sigh* Yup the bliddy zip is kaput! I am an idiot. Might just be fixable with a little ingenuity and brute force but not hopeful. Can still fasten it with the Velcro tab thingies tho so no regrets for six squids.7 -
Miró said:@cherryfudge Thanks for the info re the last car booty at Bedale. Must try and get to another one before it finishes....does the Thirsk one finish then too do you know?
Your walking jacket sounds too good a bargain not to rescue. I'm sure there are a thousand YouTubers just wanting to show us how to fix a zip, whatever the ailment! Failing that, have a look on the Old Style board, where the most ingenious people live. I'd especially recommend Fashion of the Ration for super-knowledgeable people.
Did I mention charity shops seem to be bringing out slightly thicker scarves now? I've been up in the loft and retrieved a bag of my winter scarves so I won't be in competition for them but there were some nice ones in Thirsk the other day.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

20.5 coupons used in 2020. 62.5 used in 2021. 94.5 remaining as of 21/3/226 -

@goldfinches The ‘Birkin’ is the 35 size in the light tan shade or what Hermes call ‘gold’. It was in the Headingley branch of Mind on Thursday. Actually I inherited a similar but genuine one from an aunt who collected handbags. They are very bulky and very, very heavy, only used the bloomin’ thing once, cannot recommend!!6 -

@cherryfudge Thanks again I was under the impression they all finished on 1st Oct so was a nice surprise it might be later!7 -
I did @Miró they are wonderful. One of the offices I work in is an old registry office, beautiful wood panelling, big windows and absolutely freezing in winter! The turtle doves make all the difference!
Sadly I never find cashmere in the charity shops!✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

There's another place to check if you're a savvy cashmere hunter ... Nearly New Cashmere, they sell items, and, they recycle old garments and turn them into something new.
As i say, (so many times 😋 ), it's not about buying cheapest - it's about buying value for money.
When you buy this stuff you'll buy it once.
You'll not need to buy it next year, or the year after etc etc etc.
It will last you your lifetime.

Didn't think for a minute I would find what I wanted today...
St Johns, Worcester (the bookshop, can't remember the charity) - an English/Farsi dictionary !!
Also a Joy Division CD.9 -
Found this in the Sue Ryder shop today......
Smaller than it looks and it's meant for straining individual portions of noodles and dumplings. Just what I need for straining Burrata, (my latest food obsession). Brand new and cost me £1 - normal retail price £5.99. Having had three chazza shops close down recently here I was thrilled today to find a new 'Scouts Charity Shop' is about to open8
