Happens to me with surprising frequency.  A few years back I was picking up FiL's bit from the hospital after he died and the admin person commented on my accent and asked where I was from - Canada.  "oh the Chaplain's from Canada!  Hey Frank!  Where was it you said you grew up?"  Turns out it was my home town - population about 100,000!  

And I used to be on a money forum and someone said they were moving and I spotted immediately they were buying a house about a mile from where I lived.  Continued to chat online before we got around to meeting in real life - odd how things work out.

Many years ago my sister went on holiday from Scotland to Greece.
Whilst sitting on her balcony she got chatting to a couple sitting on the next balcony.
They said they were from Perth, Australia.
My sister said "maybe you know my uncle?"
I can imagine them thinking mmmm does she know how many people live in Perth
Lo and behold they were my uncles next door neighbours, albeit next door meant 2 miles away!!

Had some good bargains recently:
A Next linen mix dress in yellow with sprays of flowers
A TU tunic in sage green with paler flecks
A George black jersey top with roll-up sleeves and chiffon yoke - still has paper inspection label on
M&S animal print leggings - still has paper inspection label on
Mantaray short cotton sleeveless blouse with zebras and toucans on

All from Air Ambulance £2.00 each

Mantaray men's long sleeve shirt in shades of red - £3.00 local hospice. OH loves this make and as Debenhams on the high street has gone, I guess there'll be less about in charity shops.

German Dictionary in really good condition, RRP £13.99, for 50p.
Several pairs of Addi and Knit Pro knitting needles (circulars and double points, mostly new), these are the 'posher' ones that I have paid around £5-7 a pair for in the past, for £1 a pair.
Happy with those bargains!
Oh yes and next years new Christmas jumper, retails for approx £25 this year, £2.50. It's a nice tasteful one with just a hint of a Christmas theme.

A gardening book , looks ‘as new’, good birthday present. Plus a plain cream, mainly cotton sweatshirt in great condition for £1 - Happy Staffie are doing me well from their pound rail this week!

I tried the Southend Hospital charity shop in Leigh-on-sea today. I got a dark purple chenille jumper, a black sheer jumper, a pair of blue jeans, a necklace and a teddy bear for my dog to chew. I also got a Thomas Pink white men's shirt for myself to wear under jumpers. This all came to under £15 so not bad.

I do a trawl of the local charity shops most weeks (sometimes more frequently) mainly for old books. Got a couple in Bewdley today plus a checked shirt (only Tu, £4) in Kemp hospice and a brown slightly padded gilet in Happy Staffie - on their £1 rail not bad for M&S Per Una!!
