From the Highway Code:
Turning left
Rule 182
Use your mirrors and give a left-turn signal well before you turn left. Do not overtake just before you turn left and watch out for traffic coming up on your left before you make the turn, and
Rule 170
Take extra care at junctions. You should
- look all around before emerging. Do not cross or join a road until there is a gap large enough for you to do so safely.
alsoRule 172
The approach to a junction may have a ‘Give Way’ sign or a triangle marked on the road. You MUST give way to traffic on the main road when emerging from a junction with broken white lines across the road.

You still emerged from a junction into the path of an oncoming vehicle established on the main road.Even if you claim that he had a cloaking device activated so that you couldn't see him, as that level of technology is reserved for secret military operations, and it would be stupid to drive around invisible for no reason, all you are doing is proving that you didn't look properly. If you claim that you did see him, and still pulled out, you are saying that you chose to race him to the obstacle when he was already committed to either going round it, or colliding with it.You might change the percentages slightly, but it is still more than 50% your fault. As the others have said, his dashcam will show what happened, and may even have recorded you admitting that you don't need to look left at a junction when you argued with him.Around 25% of drivers have a dashcam, so if you don't it is 50/50 that he does....I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Ok I'll bite...not much else going on here!!
What was the speed limit on this road, 30?
How much damage to your car? Side or front?
How fast was the other car going?
I doubt the other driver would have hit you on purpose, if they had been able to avoid you (stop), so they must have had little, or no, notice that you were going to pull out, so they must have been clearly visible, IF you did look. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -

If we assume any random car has a 25% chance of a camera, then the second car is still a random car.I was making the mistake that we had half of a set of 4 cars ABCD, and the camera is definitely in one- and I got that wrong as in that case the probability it is in B, once we know it isn't in A is 25%, but the probability it is in C (or D) rises to 37.5% [Monty Hall problem, A+C+D=75%, and we know A is zero]I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

For the benefit of the posters that didn't see it (and possibly for the insurance companies as well), here's the original post before it was "amended".

One other thing. P3. If you are going to edit posts to totally change the story to make it look as if you were in the right, you should edit all of them and not leave one that clearly shows that you failed to look to the left:
If you had looked left, why would you then have posted the comment "Let's assume I did look"?10 -
Either you didn't see this car - which would be your fault for not looking - or you saw the car and decided to go anyway - your fault for judgement and not giving way. Very seldom do you see a sign at a junction other than a roundabout that says/means 'give way to the right only' as Prowla points out the signs, road markings an custom mean 'give way'.But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Merry Christmas everyone.
It was kind of P3 to post an amusing fairly tale for us all to enjoy.
Drive carefully and stay safe.A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".3 -
If you had looked left then you would have seen the parked car as well as the car approaching it.
So from your diagram you clearly did not look left.
In which case 100% your fault.
As the other car was on the main road they had clearly committed to passing the parked car assuming you would not turn onto the main road.
I have the every day on the way back from work when I have to pass lots of cars on my side and the junction to my right frequently has cars that only look right then pull out.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Like this, but imagine the car parked further to the left (ignore the double yellow)
Is it fair to say as his obstacle is on his side, it is his responsibility.
I had no obstacle on my side. It is not my error.

if an oncoming driver has committed to an overtake, you should give way to them.
