Courgettes - both Foxgloves and themadvix have posted links to courgettey recipes on their diaries lately if I remember rightly.
Ooh thank you. I harvested some yesterday but then got distracted with the chickens so by the time I came back in from the garden DH had already started tea. I will go looking now!

Last day of school here today. I got so caught up in taking "last day at primary school" photos for DS and walking him to school for possibly the last time, (sob) that I forgot to send him with some money for the ice cream van that is visiting this afternoon. To be fair, the message only went out last night about it. This school drives me batty with it's lack of communication. Anyway, luckily for me, one of the parents in the WA group is a TA at the school and she messaged just now prompting those that had forgotten this morning. I just popped some money round (joys of working from home and living very close to the school!) and boy did I cop some attitude off the receptionist!!

Now she had already given me attitude this week when I emailed to inform them of DD's sickness (and absence) She told me off (like a child) for emailing instead of ringing them. She reluctantly agreed to allow me to email when I played the deaf card  If I don't have anywhere to go in the morning then I don't put my processor on and why should I just to ring her when I can just as easily email??

So I went in with the money and was extra polite as I was afraid she would remember me (we have a very unusual surname) and she huffed and said "this is all I am dealing with. I do have other things to do you know!" I just smiled when she followed up with "they should have messaged about this days ago" I agreed and left as it's not worth the hassle. All for some ice cream! At least DS will get to have some now.

Anyway, few things to do today. I still need to sort out the snug as I've spent a lot of time in the garden the past few days when I haven't been working. The forecast shows rain tomorrow. I have a meeting in the morning then we can paint in the afternoon. DH is already grumbling about the cost of the paint. TBF it was expensive but I gave them all a choice of colour and that one was unanimous, even when I tried to persuade them to pick the one I liked

    Let's make a list then

    Check banks
    Overpayment
    Dishwasher
    Washing
    Empty Snug
    Sweep floors in snug
Wipe down walls with sugar soap
    Do work!
    Harvest courgettes
Something with courgettes for tea (any suggestions?)
Ooh crossed everything off the list. Nice! We spent Saturday painting the snug and it looks really good. DH is putting the skirting boards back on today and I need to give the radiator cover a second coat but apart from that it's all done. Hopefully this evening we can put the settee in, clearing the conservatory and almost finishing off the snug. I'd like to buy a fluffy rug to go in there and two floor lamps to go in there. Then we are done. I'm going to wait til payday to buy those those.

Today is the first official day of the school holidays. I do have some work to do but it's mostly report writing and prep work for the holiday club I run in August.

DS is tidying his bedroom. So boring for the first day of summer I know but DH needs to pull up his carpet to get to the electrics running under his floorboards so his floor needs to be cleared. DD is doing the typical teenager thing and is still in bed  Don't blame her to be honest.

I've had a zoom meeting, put one wash on, put the dishwasher on, cleaned the kitchen and sent off an invoice. Doesn't actually sound like much now I've written it there. I've got at least one other wash to do (full of school uniform) and I've got 2 reports to write. Technically it's only one report but it has to be bilingual :eyeroll:

I did get paid for some work I did last month so that's been added to my total for this month. I only count it when it's in my bank account as some of the places I can't trust to pay me promptly.

Hurrah for the final uniform wash of the school year - although I can hardly believe DS is as old as he is, talk about time flying!  I also hear you on the unusual surname thing and people remembering you...!

Aw EH, DS would have been a toddler when you saw him last? Can you believe he starts secondary school in September? It's mad to think how much they have grown and how old they are now. DD will be 16 in October! I actually can't believe that. I have started to wonder what my (and DH's) life will look like when they move out. I'm struggling to imagine my life without them.

Although on the other hand I am so excited to see what their lives will look like.

But hey ho! Let's not wish my life away and the future is yet to be written!

Plan for today. It's actually sunny so hopefully the solar panels will do well today. Also I can hang the washing out on the line. Can you believe I still have more washing to do? Where does it all come from? I have one wash on now and a washing basket full which will probably mean another two washes! Both kids were told to clean their bedrooms (DH needs to get to their floorboards) so suddenly all plates and cutlery are back in the kitchen (dirty but at least in the kitchen!) and the washing basket was overflowing!

We did a 2 week meal plan last night as a family and that's stuck to the fridge.

    Let's make a list:

HC - one load done, 2nd done
    Dishwasher
    Spag Bol for tea
    Finish reports
    Prep for tomorrow
    Clothes for tomorrow

    Glue panels to radiator cover
    Sweep snug
    Move Settees in there
Tidy conservatory once settees are out
    Check banks
    Order chicken feed

    That'll do for now.

Hope it's sunny where you all are too

Well I did everything on my list except the snug. I started with the radiator cover but got distracted with prepping for today.

I did a thing today. And I'm not sure how I feel.

I had an interview for a new job. I haven't been to an interview in probably 15 years! I love my current job but this job was a similar job but aimed at a different demographic. My sister says it combines my skills in two very specific niches perfectly

When the advert came out I was sent it by quite a few people who all said it would be perfect for me. However, I haven't had an interview for a long time and even though I have tons of experience in the role, I have very little qualifications for it!

I spent yesterday having a lot of anxiety and panic worrying about what happens if I don't get it (nothing, I just stay where I am) and also what happens if I do get it (what will my current job think?) I really hate letting people down and I feel that I am just applying for this new job. I know how silly that sounds but I can't help feeling that.

Anyway, I've had the interview and I met the other candidate while I was waiting. She seemed lovely but would have to relocate if she got it as she lives 3 1/2 hours away (like I said, very niche job) I'm just waiting now to hear. They said later this afternoon. I haven't really had anyone to discuss it with as I don't want anyone in my current job to know and my life overlaps a lot with my work so the social groups are very similar (again a reason why I'd feel I was letting people down)

Argh what a waffle. I think I just needed to get it all out.

I definitely know what you mean about just needing to get it out - very interesting that so many people forwarded the advert to you, though, so you may not be giving off the contented vibes you think you are 🥰  The difference between skills and experience is crucial, isn't it - I've seen people get trapped in one working environment because although they could do the job standing on their head, they didn't have the exams to back it up.  This could be a great move to get external proof of how good you are.  But its big, no doubt, which is why you're anxiety ridden, I'm sure - my driving lessons sent me crazy at first, I'm only just getting used to them.  Are you geographically close to the job?  Other things being equal, that's a big thing in your favour these days.

May you get your wish, whatever it is :)

I completely get your feelings of - overwhelm, would that be a good way of putting it? - about the job application. Look at it this way - being offered it changes nothing but gives you an option to think about. You don't have to accept it if it is offered after all. And if it's not offered? Same really - nothing changes, but you have stepped out of your comfort zone and sometimes that in itself can remind us that we're able to be braver than we thought we were... Good luck - I look forward to seeing how you got on! (And as for the "letting people down" aspect - the people who matter will be entirely delighted if you were to get a job that it sounds as though would be such a great fit for you - and anyone who isn't delighted for you almost certainly doesn't matter!)

It's hilarious to think of your kids as being the age they are - I mean honestly, how is that even possible?! That was a cracking day though wasn't it - I remember how beautifully behaved they both were too!
