Thank you both. EH, overwhelm is possibly the best word for it. It was just too much. DH told me almost exactly what you said too. It was definitely a step out of my comfort zone. I kind of fell into this job with a few things all lining up a certain way for me to get it so I've always felt that I needed to prove that I deserved it. I think I've done well but I do still sometimes worry that someone will "find me out" and realise I shouldn't have this job! Ridiculous I know.

Anyway! I got the job! They offered it to me and after a bit of a wobble I accepted it. I spoke to my boss yesterday and had a bit of a cry. He was really supportive as he could see how this job would be perfect for me. He was a bit upset at the thought of losing me though which was nice. I have a few more people I need to tell before it becomes public and there was nearly a slip up yesterday where someone nearly told someone else before I'd had chance to tell the people who need to know. It's difficult when you work in a small community. Everyone knows everyone else! I've had to swear him to secrecy! He did understand though.

    Let's make a list:

HC - one load done, 2nd done
    Dishwasher
    Spag Bol for tea
    Finish reports
    Prep for tomorrow
    Clothes for tomorrow

    Glue panels to radiator cover
    Sweep snug

    Move Settees in there
Tidy conservatory once settees are out
    Check banks
    Order chicken feed
Finally finished gluing the panels to the radiator covers. They were so fiddly and slightly bent out of shape that it took a bit of manoeuvring into place and it took a lot of tins to hold it in place while the glue dried. It's done now and back in place. I've swept the snug so it's all ready for the new-to-us settee to go in there. It's payday for me today so I asked DH if we can go to the Swedish shop this evening when he gets home. I want two floor lamps and a rug. Once I have those, then the room can be put back together. It'll be lovely when it's finished. One more room ticked off!

The snug is done! We headed off to the Swedish shop on Friday evening and bought the lamps I had seen - £9 each. Didn't see a rug I liked but I had seen one in Dun3Lm so I bought that on Saturday instead. We also bought DS a desk and a gaming chair for his room. He needs one to do homework now he's starting secondary school in September. We had money put aside for it but hadn't quite planned on buying it yet. But we were wandering around the showroom
(big mistake I know  ) and he saw one that he liked so we picked it up and I moved the money over from savings on Saturday.

Saturday morning DH pulled up DS' carpet and floorboards to fix the electrics, then started to put his room back together. We decided as we were in there we might as well build his desk for him, which ended up with changing his room around for it to fit. It looks great in his room and he loves it. We have left all his toy boxes out and have asked his to go through them all as some of the toys are way too young for him now. He's cracking on with that, once he's finished we can get rid of/pass on anything he doesn't want to keep.

This took us to around 2pm on Saturday and I was feeling a bit despondent as I had wanted to use Saturday to get the snug done. We had lunch then got going on the snug. DH moved the TV from one wall to another, the two settees were moved from the conservatory, the lamps were built and placed and the rug put down. I was exhausted by the end, after doing two rooms but it was so worth it. I am so pleased with the snug. It looks fab and DS is pleased with his room too, so that's a win too.

Pinch, Punch, First of the month and all that!

How is it August already? Where on earth did July go?? It's so scary how fast this year has gone. I barely feel like we've made any progress on anything so far this year. To be honest, this past fortnight does feel as though it was productive. I feel better about the house and strangely I feel better about myself too. Just need to keep that momentum going. Let's have a look at how I did goals wise:

    So Goals for July:
    Decluttering 0/20
    Money Made £245.94/£200
    Overpayment £300/£200

Where is the jumpy smiley? Has he gone too??

So money made and overpayments went well. I made a last minute £100 overpayment yesterday as our account was looking good and I know how much money comes out today. Decluttering didn't go well but with all the sorting out in different rooms I have boxes and bags that have been decluttered but haven't quite left the house yet so don't count. I just need to actually do something with the stuff so that it counts.

August is obviously school holiday and I run a holiday club one week so it's usually taken up by family things. Although my two are getting older and don't want to do as much with me anymore :sob: For example after seeing the Snug all finished, DD arranged a watch party with her friends. A few came over yesterday and they binge watched some series or other, then watched a film to finish it off. She had a great time and I did normal work/house stuff.

    Goals for August then:
Decluttering 0/20 - a lot of that is just sitting ready to go
    Money Made £0/£200
Overpayment £0/£200 - let's go for £200 again and see if I can beat it again
