I agree with the uplifting feeling you get from a few flowers and a bit of flirting. I bought a pnk cyclamen before Christmas (reduced to £1.99) and it is still flowering brightly. I'll try planting it out when it finally goes under.
As far as grocery shopping goes, I spent £6 on fruit and veg in the market last weekend, including a huge bag of grapes which I'm working my way through. Then yesterday a few bits at Aldi and some milk brought my total to £26.68/70.Grocery challenge 2024: Annual budget £323.97/12007 -
At-a-girl @QueenJess ! In the true spirit of money saving you have reduced waste, repurposing stuff you already have (and the recipes they are going in) and avoided the temptation of "sparkly" veg, by which I mean the stuff that arrives all bright and perky in your veg box - award yourself a gold star...⭐
Well done you!Save £12k in 2024 - #2 target is £5000 only £798.34 so far

I've spent £367.88 of my £540 budget so far. My DD (15) wanted to come to Tesco with me yesterday. We'd barely got through the doors when she asked for a £1.25 pomegranate and a £3.30 smoothie!!! I ended up giving her a £5 budget and said she could choose how she wanted to spend it, I think that was a good lesson, she decided not to blow the budget on the over priced smoothie and got some nice cheese, some noodles, and the pomegranate
Debt was £15,903 😬 Now £2718.14 £0 😲🥳7 -

Definitely lots to improve on. I hate waste (hence the full freezer) and so didn’t peel carrots yesterday and have been saving my clementine skins in the freezer for a batch of candied peel.
Looking forward to seeing how much my spend can go down by this year! DH has already noticed the bin is even emptier than usual 😊2024 decluttering: 8,949 ⭐️🥉⭐️🏅🏅🥈⭐️🏅🥇🏅⭐️🏅🏅

I spent £78.50 on the food shop this week. The fridge looks reasonably full and I've been eating healthy meals. My son and my Looked after person had beans with their fishfingers and chips last night. That's their idea of healthy eating 🤣 I had a salmon fillet, a handful of oven chips and a mixed salad.
I've spent £192.34 out of £400 so far so I've left £160 in the grocery spends pot for the next two weeks and moved the surplus elsewhere. I'm saving up for a holiday in a few years time so I'm putting any left over money into my monthly saver account. It's a good incentive to concentrate on what I'm spending/using even if I don't ever manage to take the holiday. Funds are going to take a dramatic dip when my son leaves education so it's good to get my hand in and get used to at least trying to spend less now.

nannygladys said:Shopped at various places today to keep costs right down and managed to spend £16.79 altogether, and it should last me about 10 days, I have enough bread but may need some more milk or fruit before then or I may just be very careful with them! Cupboards and freezer are full and I have found a few more Xmas bits for treats!

Focus27 said:This is my first month and I’m still working out how much I spend per month on food so I can set up a realistic budget. One thing I have noticed though is that I will definitely need to have a bulk fund. I have a dairy intolerance and the alternative milk I like is currently on offer (25% cheaper) in Mr Ts so I’ve been stocking up before the offer ends. I won’t be able to do that kind of thing without a bulk fund so it’s something to think about and plan for.candylucy said:Have spent a total of £23.30 today on deodorant, shampoo and a top up of fruit, veg and some other bits from Aldi. This should last us now until the end of the month so won’t be buying any more groceries until after payday. NSD here
@Soontobeoap I’m new here too and I had to wait a few weeks before I was able to set up a signature. I’m
nor sure if it relates to length or membership or number of posts, but it came along in time. I use mine to remind myself somewhere other than my spreadsheet what I’ve committed to and to keep me focused on my goals. I plan to add a target mortgage pay off date when I can calculate it
NSD here, tomorrow I need to get fresh fruit and veg. If I spend £10 I get a free newspaper so I’m hoping to get as close to the penny as I can! Then I’m going for a long walk with a friend and am taking olio pretzel and Xmas cheese and dates for lunch.craft stash 2023 =161 items 2024 = £60.00 /£180. 00

More shopping done and spent just over £30 in Sainsbugs and Mr Ts leaving £110.34 for the rest of the month. Should be OK as don't need any meat so it's mainly fruit and veg, although I do have plenty of frozen veg. Our downfall is fruit, particularly grapes - we get though 3-4 boxes a week!
