Well latest spends (which i have kept receipts for) were £17 something in Liddl and £11.95 in Sparks, putting total at £135 remaining. Also just before Christmas but from Jans budget i ordered a veg box from Rford but husband picked everything up at the same time so i cancelled it straight away however theyd already charged me. I have asked for this back so will put it back in the Jan fund taking me later this week to £155/£300. This is approx £51 a week for the next 3 which is more than manageable based on the calculations i did over the weekend.
I realised we have been defaulting recently to T3sco rather than the cheaper supermarkets so the £17 at Liddl really did buy quite a lot (if not all) of our essentials. The sparks spend was on a whole chicken (which im happy to spend a little more on), a few veg and fruit bits plus some delicious easy peelers which whilst being pregnant i have become addicted to!
All in all it was actually a weeks shop, without taking too much from stores (in order to evaluate true cost) and meals this week have been/plan to be:
Roast dinner M
Weekly staple chicken fajitas (sour cream not new) T
Broccoli pesto tagliatelle (fresh pasta) with garlic bread W
Roasted Veg Lasagna T
Bolognese/Meatballs (which ever we feel like) F
Weekend to be decided as we always go off plan!

@Its_time - I don't put a regular amount in but I try to add at least £30 a month sometimes it's more sometimes less. This means that I can bulk buy things like beans, tomatoes, dried pulses etc.
It's basically anything I can get in bulk and store in a spare wardrobe in the spare bedroom; it also includes anything which lasts longer than the current month.

Hello, I would like to join in if I may. Would love to get grocery shopping under control if I can. Have had a really good start to 2022 and have not spent anything on grocery’s so far as we had the whole family for new year and we are working our way through the excess food. Things always get out of control in November and December for me. My grocery shop includes cleaning stuff, toiletry’s and occasionally gifts as I try to get as much at Tescos so that I gain club card points.
Not sure where to set budget. Would like to keep under £300 a month but realistically think I should make that £320 on average a month. £3,840 a year. Winter months will be lower and then we have family come to stay through 6 weeks school holidays 12 of them, some with allergies, and so it will fluctuate.craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £25.96 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,

My signature reverted back to an old one for some reason, so will have to update it.
Anyway, I went to my local food hub today and managed to get more veggies and a few other bits, there wasn't as much there this week, I suppose the sm are getting back to normal ordering, but every bit helps me and the food doesn't go to landfill.
So no money spent yet this year, which is a big thing for me.

Hello everyone,
No trips to the supermarket so far this year!We are still eating bizarre concoctions from the cupboards & freezer!
I must defrost my freezer before I restock it, it’s awful! A job I loathe ☹️Have a good evening.Pix

First trip to the shops here £0.91 on celery, cucumber and a carrot. The pea shoots I have got growing aren’t enough salad for me!
I’ve a supermkt delivery booked for Saturday so I’m finessing the trolley there, trying to keep to £50. I get one delivery a month for all the heavy/bulky/frozen stuff (no car and can’t cycle at the moment due to injury) and a week/10 days worth of fruit and veg. I then get a vegbox from a local company two other weeks out of four and have a use up week in the fourth week of the month. It really helps me to shop as few times as possible to reduce the opportunity to add things. I could have easily spent loads tonight on YS stuff I didn’t need just because it was there.
Lovely deliveries in the post which felt enjoyable to open up - charity Xmas cards bought in the sale for next year, so helping me and hopefully still the charity, 8 sweet £6ish birthday gifts from the same place so I’m feeling very prepared. And a surprise from a friend - a lovely card with a few flavoured tea bags in. It really made me smile!Grocery Challenge

Thanks @joedenise, I might try that, I could do with a buffer for things I usually buy that I see on sale but perhaps don't want this week, I often feel a bit sick that I have to leave them as they are not part of my weekly budget. Seems silly to leave them when on sale if I could do a bulk/buffer purse as well.

@Its_time - That was why I started the bulk fund as I always buy my tomatoes a dozen at a time, same with baked beans but I like the Sainsbury's reduced salt and sugar ones and don't go there very often. I never pay more than £1 per 100ml of toothpaste so when I see it at that price or less I'll pick up half dozen tubes.8
