Sorry I can't be of any help.  In fact, it looks as though they've done the same to me.

I got a final bill to 17.10.21 from Pure Planet, and my DD goes out in the 1st, so I haven't included that.  They transferred over £216.73 on 27/12, but I don't think that can include the payments for at least 1/11 and 1/12, which come to £340 on their own.

its possible that this is correct.

You’re assuming that your balance with Pure Planet after your last bill was zero. In reality, it probably wasn’t. If you’d underpaid prior to your last bill (this can easily happen if your usage exceeds happens to exceed your standard monthly payment), then you’ll have owed PP some money. They will have subtracted this amount before transferring whatever was left to your shell account.

Sorry not to get back sooner but |I only telephoned Shell Customer Services yesterday afternoon.  Spoke to an extremely helpful gent called Roland.

Good thought, but my last bill with PP showed me to be £46.23 in credit. The figure transferred was actually 216.23 which I'd been misreading (****** dyscalculia).  So I immediately recognised that amount as £46.23 + £170.00 DD for October.

Having gone through their payments record against my payments, they have this prior to the October changeover then those taken after my account with Shell was set up at the end of December - so January 2022 onwards.

It's the payments we were told to continue making to Pure Planet after they went into administration that haven't been recorded by Shell.  Plus, it seems, they don't get a breakdown of the sums they receive from PP, just a total.

Anyway, I was asked to send evidence of payment by sending a record of transactions from my bank account.  (in fact, he even told me how to do it, since I asked if he used my bank and he did!  Told you he was very helpful :) )  I did this immediately and they're looking into it.

If you're still worried and it's not been sorted I'd suggest you try them again and explain your situation.  It may help to point out that you've 'spoken' to other people with the same problem.  Plus, if you didn't before, have the following to hand:
    • your Shell account number
    • your final bill from Pure Planet
    • a list of all payments taken from your bank
They should as you to do the same.  He said he'd send an email request for me to do this so that it was in the system.  If this isn't suggested, ask them to do it, if you haven't already.

Let me know how it goes.  I'll post here when I know more.

Sorry to jump in on this thread, but I have a couple of quick questions. I'm in the same situation ie moved from pp to shell. I'm all set up and she'll recently sent me an email saying that my expected usage will mean an £800per Yr increase from April on top of the recent increase from £110pm to £190pm. So all in all I'll be paying about £270pm from April.

    Two questions then:

    1. Are there any fixed or variable deals out there worth looking at, or is the current advice to sit tight?

    2. Has anyone successfully switched from shell?
  • I'm having an issue where I still haven't been issued my first invoice yet, I'm really worried about 'bill shock'

I tried contacting Shell and all they said is my billing is stopped. Can I switch away to get away from Shell?

I have had a look onto the account and can see that  the billing has stopped temporary. There is an agent currently working on that issue.

When the procces is finished, we will be billing you correctly and rebill you as soon as possible.

Why worry, just work it out for yourself...
The tariff you are currently on is published information, just read your own meter9s0 and work it out...
If you have problems doing that just give us the meter readings and we can help.
  • Has anybody had any luck switching to another supplier's variable rate? I know I'm not going to be able to pay a cheaper rate, but I just want to get away from Shell asap.

It really rankles me that I was on a nice, small, green energy supplier and I was forcibly switched to Shell, a company I have real ethical issues with. I'm very keen to switch to another supplier, but I'm struggling to find any information from anyone as to how to switch to antoehr supplier without moving to a more expensive fixed deal.

It also really rankles me that they've put the standing charge up - especially the electricity because they're 100% renewable (even if "the wind doesn't blow"), so gas supply isn't a problem, surely.  It's 37p+ in the E of England.  Mine (in NE Scotland) has increased to 50.05p!  Not to mention the several billion given to shareholders,  So I won't.  Mind you, the whole standing charge business is Westminster, not Shell...

The last point is the key one - don't be annoyed at Shell over this. Also, a significant part of the cost to everyone is the result of you and me being protected by the SOLR process that moved us to Shell. I find it hard to complain about paying for this under the circumstances, particularly as those who didn't personally benefit in the same way as we did are also having to pay this.

Re the missing payments.  I was told that part of the problem they'd been having with transferring PP was that the administrators only gave a lump sum, not a breakdown of the payments.

Do you have a copy of your last bill from PP?  If so, right at the top of (where I hadn't noticed it - my brain skims past numbers) it actually lists payments received with dates.  The payments included my DD for November too, despite it being an October bill.

So the transferred amount was probably £46.23 credit after usage was deducted from payments to November and the £170 would then be December's DD.

Has something similar happened to you?

If it has, and the £500 is outstanding, isn't there a fund to help people in that situation out?
