Utility point or EDF

It's now 23rd March.
I'm an ex utility customer and I'm on the EDF variable welcome tariff which they tell me is exactly the same as their standard variable tariff. I've only just managed to log in and I still cannot download the first bill. I'm told I will get it this week.
I'm quite annoyed that EDF will not supply monthly bill statements even with a smart meter. I can only trigger one by asking over the phone, otherwise I get two of them a year... Pathetic.
What have people been doing? Going fixed? Moved away from EDF to somewhere else?0 -
Why do you actually need a bill every month? I understand you might want one, but in reality it makes no difference and if you are bothered about figures you can keep track of that very easily with the usage data.UKContractor said:It's now 23rd March.

Staying put, because most energy providers are not taking new customers unless they are going onto a fix, which is considerably more expensive than the SVR you will be on with EDF.UKContractor said:What have people been doing? Going fixed? Moved away from EDF to somewhere else?0 -
I switched to Direct Debit with exact monthly payments:UKContractor said:What have people been doing? Going fixed? Moved away from EDF to somewhere else?

From that page: If you give us your meter readings regularly, you'll get a bill each month. The bill will show exactly how much you need to pay for the energy you've used. As you pay by Direct Debit, it will be paid automatically.0 -

I do monthly direct debit.
They take exactly the same amount off each month.
Bills are only generated every six months unless you ring up and request one.
This is what has happened and asking the telephone operator confirms this. They won't give me monthly bill statements.0 -
Ring them and ask to go onto direct debit whole amount monthly.UKContractor said:^

Sounds like you are on "Direct Debit with regular monthly payments" aka "Budget Direct Debit".UKContractor said:^

I recommend "Direct Debit with exact monthly payments" aka "Direct Debit whole amount monthly" - this gives monthly bills.0
