Utility point or EDF

My take on this is that for administrative simplicity, EDF and the UP administrators have decided that UP final bills will cover up to the date EDF show as switching date on their contract checker.
If this is the case, as seems to be so from other posts in different threads, then the UP bill should have estimated or supplied meter readings as at 18 September, their rates should be charged up to this point, then EDF deemed tariff rates applied between 18 September and the so called switch date. Any credit or debit following this should then be transferred to the opening EDF bill.
Does this changing amount referred to by Threewheeler relate to monthy periods prior to the 18 September or later?
If later, then might it relate to whether or not a direct debit was in force, as others have mentioned being charged a fair bit more than the EDF quote because the UP direct debit had been cancelled?

Allowing that it has been repeatedly explained that the payments are safe, and it is no different to you making your payments to any other energy provider, why do you see this as a problem?smileguy said:Sorry but I don’t think it’s right that my direct debit should be paid to a company that is in administration do you ?. Not when I am on a EDF tariff my direct debits should go to EDF.Do you think it’s fair that legally they have no set time to produce a final bill ? Some energy customers have waited up to 8 months for a final bill with companies holding their money .@ofgem needs to set a time limits on final bills .Energy customers shouldn’t have to put up with this.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Yes the individual monthly bills have different rates on my accountStaffordian11 said:My take on this is that for administrative simplicity, EDF and the UP administrators have decided that UP final bills will cover up to the date EDF show as switching date on their contract checker.

I'd overlooked (but on another thread someone pointed it out) that EDF's tariff for the period up to 30 September would be at a lower rate than the tariff from 1 October, because the capped prices rose from 1 October. Does this account for the price changes you see?Threewheeler said:

No there are two separate bills for this period to account for this increase, my problem is with the period before this.:grouphug: Threewheeler0

If it’s prior to 18 September I’m not sure whether anything can be done about it as it’s UP rather than EDF. Could try ringing administrators maybeThreewheeler said:No there are two separate bills for this period to account for this increase, my problem is with the period before this.0 -
Only contact with Administrators is a recorded message stating that process concluded.:grouphug: Threewheeler0

So what’s the dates that the tariff is wrong & what is the difference in tariff price? Did you cancel your direct debit as soon as they went bust? If so could be that they have reversed your last UP bill & billed it up again on cash/cheque prices.Threewheeler said:Only contact with Administrators is a recorded message stating that process concluded.0 -
I still state that it’s wrong that direct debits should be paid to administrators of the collapsed utility company , with no time limit for them to send out final bills.Bank account switching takes 3-9 days so no reason energy companies can’t quickly send out bills. And can anyone tell me please why standing charges have increased so much ? Seems now unit prices are capped they are just increasing standing charges.0
