It looks like the credit cards have changed too.

    Strange notch.
I believe the notch is an orientation aid for those with sight impairment, common on cards now that raised type is becoming rare.
That is so, but what's "strange" about the notch on those new cards is that it's a squarish, angular design.  All the other notches I've seen are curved.

Yes, I guess it's to differentiate between credit/debit cards.

Many banks seem to be using raised dots to differentiate debit cards from credit cards.  Will the different notches be in addition to the raised dots, or instead of them?
  • I suspect it’s Mastercard’s attempt at standardising this stuff. But we all know how it will end up.

It’s the Touch Card design by Mastercard to make it easier for blind or partially sighted people to distinguish different card types.

Interesting that Natwest Group appear to have got it the wrong way around between credit and debit. Unless that's just a suggestion.

There's a NatWest version circulating online, too.  Same design, apart from the logo.  NatWest have replied to somebody on Twitter saying that's not an official design.  I presume that means the RBS one isn't official, either.
  • I’d love to know what they mean by “not an official design”. How did it end up on their website then?

I was referring to the credit cards, not the debit card. The pictures of the credit card above are from Uswitch; they're not on the NatWest, or RBS websites.

I don't really care what my credit or debit cards look like.  The only time I whip them out is at petrol pumps or on TFL, and there's nobody there to admire or criticise them.  I use Google Pay almost exclusively these days.
