Freedom2Surf any good, or reccommend an ISP?

Hi,

Looking to migrate to F2S 2mb service (24.99 for 100gb/month) and wondered what they were like for reliability and customer service, and also do they throttle the speed at all?

I am determined to move from Pipex because I am fed up of waiting for the "free" upgrade from 512kbs to 1mb that was supposed to be complete in April. Even if they did it now they would still be overpriced at £23.44.

Any feedback on F2S is welcomed, as is any suggestions for an ISP offering 2mb service with high or uncapped usage allowance for around £25.

  • I'm on Freedom2surf 2MB (albeit the capped version) and haven't had any problems. The company seem to be good at customer service.

If you're able to pay up front then E7even have a good offer on at the moment. http://www.e7even.com You can get 2 years worth of uncapped access for £240 which works out at just £10 per month.

Sign up for the 512K service, e7even will currently give you a free upgrade to 1MB with free connection/migration - still at £240 for 2 years.

If you still need a 2MB connection then (once it's all up and running) you can upgrade via the members area for just an extra £4 per month (plus £25 admin) so you basically end up with 2 years of uncapped 2Mb access for £357 - just £14.87 per month!!

For comparison, signing up directly to their 2Mb service would cost £528 - £22 per month.

Of course you can pay with a cashback credit card and save a few pounds. Also check the Referrers board where an MSE user is offering to split their referral bonus £20 with you if you sign up with their referral code.

Alternatively go with Freedom2surf - they're very good too :D

I signed up with e7even as part of their current promotion and got the 2 years uncapped 1mb for £240. After 3 weeks they emailed me with an offer to upgrade to 2mb for the rest of the contract for £45

Firstly, I've been with f2s (uncapped/512) for the last 30 months, and the connection has NEVER been down.
I've only contacted them once and that was because I'd reformatted the machine and forgot the login setting for FTP.

Secondly, the speed of broadband is probably going to increase spectacularly over the next two years and the price, I expect, will come down as the market responds. (eg the norm may be £15 a month for 8 MByte by this time next year)
I fancy e7even think they can charge more on further down the line for progressive upgrades... maybe I'm just cynical..

Very true, but this time next year I'll have been saving £5 per month for 13 months already. To be honest I'm not sure i'd pay an extra £5 per month for 8mb instead of 1mb (Though I realise I'm probably in a minority) as I only use the net for browsing and online gaming.

Its an important point chunter makes that the E7 offering isn't for everyone, especially if being on the very latest speed is a priority. Price wise though its about a third less than internet access has been historically (going back to any time dial-up)

I recently migrated to F2S and everything went through exactly when they said it would, I'm on the 10gig capped service as this suits me fine, but I would highly recommend them

I have just moved house so thought I would leave F2S and joing PlusNet as it is cheaper for 2MB uncapped.....
However I wish I hadn't as I am still waiting for connection and all plusnet do is blame BT and refuse to chase them up - they also refuse to give me a name and number of the BT department they deal with so I can do it myself - I am sure I would not have had this problem with F2S.
Also the portal at Plus net and the webmail is very flakey - 2 years with F2S And I can only remember one downtime for the webmail and I NEVER got disconnected.

I reccommend F2S 100% and am currently thinking of cancelling my outstanding order with PlusNet.
