I loved the Famous Five books, then moved onto Nancy Drew, they were my absolute favourites but I would read just about anything and going to the library was a real treat. I remember the joy of getting my adult library card at 11 or 12 and being so happy to be able to take out more than 6 books at a time! 😂

    Good morning,

Yesterday was eye test and food shopping day. By the time I'd done that and sat down with a coffee it was time to go and fetch the HT from town. The declutter continues though. Some bottles that were brought home when I cleared my friend's house have been redeployed.

1 - A litre bottle of Teachers whisky
2 - A litre bottle of Jack Daniels honey
    3 - A bottle of Advocaat
4 - A bottle of parma violet "shimmering" gin (mine but ughh!)
    and also
5 - An unopened box of card games
6 - A mini frying pan with nutella to make a cookie (also new and confiscated from bf who can't have dairy)

All gone to be raffle prizes to raise funds for a small boy with cancer to make memories with his family. My friend didn't drink so goodness knows how old the bottles are but they're unopened so still good.

My Ebeneezer account is now at £83.03  mostly from grocery underspends. I've also roughly planned what we're eating for the rest of the week. I've liberated some sliced courgettes from the freezer this morning to make soup with later for me. Quick and easy because it's one of the HT's late uni finishes. He won't be having courgette soup, he's having mac 'n' cheese with some garlic naan bread 😄

I want to tidy my craft/computer room too. It's surprising how quickly it gets messy. I've already vacuumed upstairs again (did it yesterday too) as the cat has a "hobby" which is chewing cardboard boxes. Last night was a busy hobby night obviously judging by the mess in the HT's room.

Take care all of you 😊

Parma violet anything is an abomination Cranky - it can shimmer as much as it likes - *boak*

Sashybo - Famous Five books were awesome, even if the one where the tree crashed down onto the house (was it Kirrin Cottage or somewhere else?) made me scared of the big ash tree outside my bedroom window for a good few years! Secret Seven too - I've still got one of those kicking about!

I like the ordinary parma violet gin. The shimmering one when left to settle looks like it has a slightly buoyant science experiment at the bottom.

I was reading about Enid Blyton a couple of weeks back. She was a bit interesting that one.

I loved the famous five books, and all Enid Blyton. EH- It was Kirrin cottage that the tree fell on! Five go to Smugglers top. I should go on Mastermind 😆

  • I really, really wish I’d kept my Noddy books, along with my Famous Fives. I do still have my favourite Pip the Pixie Enid Blyton book.
I like Parma violets. Do you remember the little violet perfume bottles with a pixie sitting on top? I’m sure they came from holidays, Norfolk maybe? I must google 😁

The only books I’ve kept from my childhood are my Thelwell pony ones. Still have the horse and rider toy too.

Well done on the decluttering and what a very worthy cause the items have gone to.
