Thank you all for your kindness. I seem to be recovering fairly well and more quickly than expected. I've been discharged from physio already, yay.
The HT went to his friend's prom as his college didn't have one. He wore his dad's dinner jacket with black trousers, white shirt., a cummerbund and a bow tie. He likes to make an impact. He looked very like his dad and he had a great time apparently. I gave him £50 (didn't have to pay for spray tan, make up hair etc like the girls mums) and best friend gave him £20. He managed to get a lift there and back, drank some of his friend's drinks because "mum, she was leathered and shouldn't have been drinking any more, I had to hold her up and walk her out to her dad's car" and basically made £70 profit on the night. To be fair he did offer BF and I our money back but we both said no. No need to worry about him squandering his inheritance then 🤣 He was very sore yesterday (hypermobile joints) and he and the cat went back to bed for a rest yesterday afternoon but he said it was worth it.
I watched the panorama programme about ultra processed food. I've been saying for a while now that we need to start eating better. Once we have finished the bad stuff that's in the house that was bought for convenience after my op I won't be buying any more. When the HT was small I made everything from scratch. I can't stand for long in the kitchen any more but I have a tall stool and the table isn't far away so I will have to adapt. I've bought a batch cooking recipe book so I can make things besides spag bol and lasagne which are our usual standbys.
I'm making my sister a crochet cardigan in red sparkly yarn (she'll love it) as the cream coloured one that I made for myself turned out well. In between for a little light relief I'm making granny squares for a tote bag as they're fashionable now and the prices of them are shocking. Next job here is to fill up my weekly tablet box because that's the only way that I can remember to take the right combination now that the menopause has stolen my brain.
Take care all of you 😊

I’m glad things are going well and that the HT was so sensible with his money 😁
I’m now imagining all of our brains being held hostage somewhere 🤭 To be honest if I see that Holland and Barrett advert one more time I’m going to have a paddy as it’s in the adverts of everything we watch … some strange woman saying the menopause stole her youth…erm, that’s just calling aging, please get a grip 😖 Life is hard enough without h&b talking about it 75 times a day 😬Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

@Jellytotts it would serve them right if the stores got flooded with angry menopausal women looking for the promised holy grail 🤭Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

I count myself extremely lucky that I took after my mum and, although this meant I had an early menopause in my mid 40s, I had no symptoms other than my periods stopping.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

Good morning all,
I've noticed lately that many of us who have/have had money problems also seem to have weight problems. I'm fairly sure that some of my debt was built up buying "healthy" or "diet" food and then waiting for a miracle to happen (whilst also throwing out most of the food because I either didn't want it or it was out of date). Then there were clothes bought which never made me look better (not all of them even fitted when I brought them home).
I've just finished 12 months of NHS help which gave me 3 monthly access to a dietician, an exercise specialist and a nurse that weighed and measured me. If I'd gone to a slimming club I would have given up because there were times that I didn't lose anything for weeks. In the 3 months before I started the NHS thing I lost 10 lbs on my own and my total weight loss in the 15 months has been 3 stone and 6 lbs. Averaged out that is only 0.73 - 0.74 per week but overall it's a fair bit.
I need my BMI to be 40 for knee surgery and in the last phone call that I had with them yesterday I was told that my BMI is now 34. I had my first knee surgery on the 22nd of June so my target now is to lose a little more before my next knee surgery which whould be 5-6 months away when the first one has healed.
Anyway....the NHS help was free, see your GP if you think that something like this would help you. I wasn't very mobile so there were no expensive gym sessions. A hobble up our road was beyond me most of the time. I think I broke the exercise lady's heart when she asked me after the first stone gone was I finding it easier to move around and I said no 🤣 To give you an idea, we agreed a daily step total of 6000 steps which I mostly managed but not always.
I'm fairly sure that there's a link between overspending and overeating - maybe some of us are just "over everything" types of people.
Take care all of you 😊

Well done @CRANKY40 that is a huge loss and your BMI is fastly improved. Thank you for sharing how you achieved your loss. It is stories like yours that make me hopeful I can shift my access weight. I know this is illogical but what is stopping me from trying to lose weight is the thought of failing. Yes, I know by not trying I have failed but I feel like there is a gigantic wall preventing me from taking action.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

That is an amazing result, well done! You should be proud of all your hard work
I agree there's definitely a link between overeating and debt. Mine also relates to my mental health.
Last time I asked my GP for help, I got told to go join a slimming club and always leave a meal slightly hungry."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney2
