I used to live in London @Sun_Addict but it's still exciting for the teens. It's also a chance for my sister and I to revisit places that we used to go to. Last time we went to China Town just the two of us - just to check we could still use chopsticks obviously 😂
I've been doing the grocery challenge this month as I'm watching food prices go up and up and...... I've come up with a really good incentive for myself. There are a couple of trips that I want to take while I'm still able so I've started a monthly saver and I'm putting any left over money from my food budget each week into that account. I did a monthly saver last year to make sure that I kept my hands off our London trip money and it worked so hopefully this will help me focus. 54 years old and I still have to bribe myself to behave 🤣
In all fairness, this board and the diaries have also helped me to focus. My emergency fund is now back up to a decent amount, the fences back and front were fixed and paid for by savings last year and I only use my credit card because I get vouchers for using it (and added protection too). The HT calls it "the pizza card" because that's what the vouchers are usually swapped for.
Two of us for lunch today and as it's the HT's first exam I have promised him and my best friend that I'll treat them to fish and chips tonight for dinner. I have cash in my purse for this as LAP's mum reimburses me in cash for the snacks and meals that I make for him each week. I need to get up and go and make biscuits for best friend now.
Take care all of you 😊2 -
I love my monthly saver, keeps my mitts off the savings. Great idea to plan for some trips as an incentive. I also use a credit card purely for the vouchers, I use mine to buy magazine subscriptions and pay the balance off every Monday. Took me many many years to get to this sensible stage but thanks to MSE I'm a reformed character, well most of the time 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

Another one who uses a credit card for everything and pay off every month. I use my vouchers for Eurotunnel tickets so we can take our motorhome to France for holidays. Currently saving our vouchers as we still had trips to book for this year where we were unable to go last year and just moved our bookings to this year.

We have 2 credit cards which we clear in full every month, the first cc which we put virtually all our spending rewards us with vouchers for John Lewis and the 2nd cc is only used at Amazon and rewards with Amazon vouchers.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

I forgot about the CC with Amazon! I've got one of those for my Amazon purchases. It's handy getting the vouchers added to your gift card balance!3

I'm another now thinking about exploring the idea of CC's that reward with vouchers. We originally got our spending card because it gave cashback, but of course pretty much nobody does that now unless you want to go with Am3x (we don't) so vouchers would be a decent solution. I'm reluctant to go the T's bank route as we already struggle to decide what to use the vouchers we earn from the shopping on. Am@z0n could be an option though - and did someone mention M&S?🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

@EssexHebridean if you can't use any of the special "T" offers there's always just using them in shop which I've done before now. Beer and gin taste even better when they're free.2
