Not specifically recommending that supplier, just using as an example of the pick and mix nature of the PCs available

What about an i5 3rd gen then ?
Not bought anything yet as I wanted to get the view from other posters, I'm grateful for the advice posted.
Just need a tower, I have a monitor.

I do not recommend you buying any PC older than intel i5 8th gen or AMD Ryzen 3rd gen.
And when choosing old PC, always go for standard tower if possible
But you linked the OP to a PC with an i3 8th Gen.....
Not that it's an issue...1 -

i3 8100 will support Win 11.
Someone link an old dell with i5 3rd gen. That is release back in 2012. A big NO.
BTW, if OP is not adding any GPU in future, you could have a look at CEX as they provide warranty.

As it happens, for the OP's intended usage, the difference between an i3 and an i5 (both 8th gen minimum) will probably not be noticeable.Jenni x3 -

All I meant was core i 8th gen.
How come you getting a bit aggressive?
It is just a public forum.

Got a Lenovo i7 3rd gen here, still going strong. More than adequate for the OP and if I were to sell it (I'm not) I'd expect to get about £100-£150 for it.
Will the OP still be playing the same game in 2025?
The end of support for Win 10 is still some time away.
Food for thought.
A dream is not reality, but who's to say which is which?1 -

There were some i5 8gen going for under £200 not so long ago with ebay discounts that happen fairly regularly
