That Lloyds one seems to be the best of the sideways cards as the Lloyds will show when it's in your wallet and when you take it out the chip will be at the front ready for a chip and pin machine.
Only if you're left handed!  Right handed people will put the card in our wallets with the chip on the left, so we won't see "Lloyds Bank" at all.

I'm right handed and I always take the cards out with my left hand, my wife is the same.
  • I can confirm that the new Lloyds CC's are kept upside down for me, but only because knowing the signature would otherwise not be the right way up really bothers me.

I don't understand the point of vertical cards. The marking only matters when it's in your wallet so you can get the right one out, and most wallets are horizontal as banknotes are too. Once it's out it doesn't matter which way round the writing is, with contactless transactions you would hold it at 45 degrees anyway.

If you flip it/keep it in your wallet the other way round, then when you take it out with your right hand you have to turn it round before you can use it.  Taking it out with your left hand, and using it in your left hand, would be unnatural for most right-handed people, and having to swap it from one hand to another would be too much of a faff.  It's easier just to keep it in your wallet upside down, as in the photo, but then you can't see Lloyds Bank on it, although that only really matters if you've got other green cards in your wallet and can't tell them apart.

The Lloyds (credit card) design is terrible. You can't have words in all directions.

I don't understand the deep debate about which way round to store the card

Mine alternate, to keep the magnetic strips further apart, or the embossed writing not clashing
