You need to use the Chase card directly with Amazon. If you use it via Curve, you won't get the extra 2% cashback.
Where in their offer T&Cs or FAQ do they say this?
    They don't need to!

If you use via Curve, the card number in the Amazon system is the Curve card, not the Chase one, so, while Chase will pay the 1% cashback, Amazon do not track the transaction for the other 2%

The promotion is between Amazon and Chase. Not Amazon and Curve!

If you are right, then a bank who takes customer service seriously would have the good grace to make their customers aware in the offer T&Cs, or at least in the FAQ.

Bank plus good grace = oxymoron.
  • Looking at the previous comments it looks like Chase are something of a Marmite bank.

Why people need to get so agitated about cashback is beyond my comprehension.
    Who is getting agitated? 🤔

From a logical standpoint, why should the customer be eligible for cashback from Chase if there is no record within Chase of any transactions with Amazon?

I don't use Curve myself, but thought that transactions were passed through to the designated card with the original merchant information. Would someone using Curve to spend at Amazon from a Chase card see something other than Amazon on their Chase statement? If Amazon is listed in a customers bank statement, then that would be a record of the transaction with Amazon and the transaction details held by Chase may well contain enough information for it to be validated by Amazon (assuming Amazon plays any role in deciding whether cashback is awarded, which has not been established). If, however, transactions made through Curve are listed as 'Curve' or similar at Chase, then they wouldn't be considered Amazon transactions and probably would be excluded even from the standard 1% cashback as "Account and prepaid card funding" transactions.
Seems like speculation is running wild here, including from me. Perhaps we should wait for someone to confirm they have placed a qualifying Amazon order via Curve and not been credited the extra cashback.

The customer has been offered / promised 3% cashback by Chase for purchases from Amazon. How this is technically implemented and what deal Chase have with Amazon about it, is none of the customer's concern. As an aside, Chase does have a record when people buy from Amazon - they are printing it on the transaction list and on statements. Chase have also published a list of exceptions that suggest they know an awful lot about the purchases a customer made from Amazon (e.g. gift cards are excluded).

If Chase truly exclude payments made through Curve from this promotion, they're in hot water, as this exclusion is not mentioned under the exceptions they say apply. This could end up to be their first encounter with the FOS.

I make all my debit card purchases through Curve, without exception, whether I use the Chase card or a different card.

Where the purchase is with a well-known retailer, the Chase transaction list shows no indication that the payment was made with Curve. Same on the Rewards list and the statements.

It seems that only "no name" retailers show as "Crv*NoName Shop".

Chase cashback gets paid regardless of the name shown - provided the retailer has got a merchant code which is not excluded from Chase cashback.

In contrast, my  transaction lists for my other cards show "Crv*Name of retailer" without fail.

    More specifically:
You’ll earn 3% cashback when you use the Chase card to make purchases at Amazon in the UK, through the Amazon.co.uk website or through the Amazon.co.uk app (including digital downloads, Amazon Prime subscriptions, and items sold by third-party merchants through Amazon.co.uk’s marketplace).

Their records displaying Amazon instead of Curve helps your case in the event of a dispute.

That's handy, my prime subscription is about to renew. Just added my Chase card as default payment type.
    Nice idea.
