  • Santander occasionally has 10% cashback at Morrisons. Seems a good deal to me.

Do make sure you activate the offer.
  • And that is why you have more than one account. Nobody is saying ONLY have a Chase account.

I get 2% cashback at Asda which is credited to my mobile phone bill, sadly I cant register the Chase card with this scheme and get a bonus 1% on top as they use a virtual card number (which isnt yet compatible with Samsung Pay) and they will only provide me the last 4 digits of the physical card number which I use in Asda, so I use a different Visa credit card in Asda to get 2% rather than 1%.

Airtime rewards?  I have registered my Chase debit card OK, you can get the full number in the Chase app.  Also, I have the Chase card used with Curve card, also registered with Airtime Rewards.

Yes, I didn't do that initially but went back and did so.

I was remarking on American banks coming over and showing us that things can be better
Or you could use English banks like Starling and get a big fat 0% cashback.
As you should know the (thankfully) retained EU/EEA interchange fee is only 0.2% so even 1% is loss making.

I don't usually go to banks for cashback as I get a lot more cashback through dedicated cashback sites. Another example I have just come across tonight:
    - Shark via Amazon: 3% cashback with Chase
    - Shark via Topcashback: 7% + 1% paying with Chase = 8%.

Granted, the cashback payout with Chase is the speediest by an almost unbeatable margin. However, I am quite happy to wait a bit longer for a higher payout, and in my experience, Topcashback is a very reliable payer. My current all time cashback total from cashback sites - mainly TCB but also some Quidco and HUKD - runs to well over £14,000 so I claim to know a thing or two about cashback.

The low EU/EEA interchange fee is nothing new to me either as I already had 3 cards giving me the deal Chase is now also giving me. So now I have 4 :D

I want to be quite clear: I have nothing against Chase, I am quite happy to use their card where it works to my advantage. I just got triggered by the statement that American banks coming over and showing us that things can be better

If you get yourself an nfc scanner app for your phone you can find the actual card number for airtime rewards. I use one called 'credit card reader' and can confirm it works fine tracking on airtime.

Or perhaps British banks like Starling.

ETA, in case of doubt, Wikipedia informs us that

Starling Bank received the Best British Bank award in the British Bank Awards for four consecutive years – 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021

As I said earlier many "English" banks are part of the Visa and Mastercard rewards system and offer significant cashback deals for selected retailers.  Usually well in excess of the relatively paltry 3% Chase are offering.

I'm not sure why some people are treating this like the second coming of Christ.
  • is the extra 2% credited the next day etc or at some future point

i seem to be still getting just 1% on my amazon purchases i have activated the offer but i am using it via the curve card so perhaps thats the problem.
