Good evening all!
Didn't get a chance to post earlier, it was the Old Folks Christmas lunch today and I started at 8am and didn't get home until 4.45 pm. I'm totally shattered:D It was a great success, and they seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. I've just eaten my first food of the day, so may become a little more alert soon;) I'll certainly sleep well tonight!
I have read the thread, but I'm really sorry my brain has turned to mush ( NO comments Haribo:p ) and not much has been retained.:o I do remember that your cards were really nice Haribo! Very professional, what happened:rotfl:
Mrs mix, are you overdoing it? Just because you've had your op you're not supposed to run around like a two year old;) I repeat my earlier advice. Rest, foot up, log on here:D
So Ausssie, you're being a big game hunter, eh:cool: Snakes and spiders   I can just about catch our spiders ( with my spider vac:o ) and we don't have anything remotely dangerous.
JackieO, hope the tests go OK for your grandson. My DS4's GF has epilepsy but seems to cope very well. (((hugs)))) to you too, positive thoughts winging their way to you:D
Going to have a little surf round.

Well, my best friend has terminal cancer and has requested no Christmas Cards - donation to charity (Marie Curie). We don't have a problem with that and have put notes in cards this year saying we won't be doing it so much next year, and giving money to charity. We have sent a cheque as a donation anyway. She does not so want card from us but I want to say something. Should I send a 'normal blank card! with our message saying how much she means to us?
I have posted OS on my friend's condition in the past and she is doing so well with no ill effects so far but I am feeling so much for her tonight. I have a feeling when this awful disease kicks in it is going to very invasive. Her attitude is so positive and that is wonderful.

Sorry to hear this GB.
As your friend has requested no cards, I think I'd steer clear even of a normal blank card ( I know what you mean!)
But that doesn't mean you can't write her a normal letter, telling her how much she means to you. I think this is the route I'd take. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Evening everyone
((hugs)) to those feeling the cold - roll on 3rd Jan for me.
Busy day on paperwork - scanning, filing, sorting. (Not least not letting DH get too wound up).
Well channel found and cabling in place, quick trip to electrical component wholesalers for new sockets, and extra aerial cable. 30p metre so not too bad.
Ceiling emulsioned, and coat of white emulsion on walls stripped of paper as a base. Colour going on on the morning and hopefully builder/kitchen fitter (same guy) in the afternoon. First job finish kitchen.
Still cards to write/post and everything to wrap, and newsletter to write.
(((hugs)))) to those of you who'd like one.

Grannybroon my brother died of Cancer on the 8th November so I sort of know how you feel. But believe me your friend knows how much you care about her and the best thing you can do is abide by her wishes and leave it at that because it is her decision and a very brave and selfless one may I add

I agree with Churchmouse on this.I lost my dear brother-in-law to cancer in September, also my brother 8 years ago.I think you should respect her wishes.I think a letter is a superb idea.0

Evening all,
Not particularly with the programme to-day...had DGS1 here from early morning, he has an infection of some kind and is off food so couldn't really send him to school...he is such a little worry wort...imagines ( I think!) pains and aches all over and develops dislikes to various foods overnight...they make him sick! Anyway he slept most of the afternoon and was very glad to see Daddy when he arrived for him, think he will be off to-morrow too.
Got the 'visitors' beds made up and now just have to dismantle cot as it takes up too much space in DD2's room, also need to damp dust or even wash paintwork in both rooms and make sure that radiators are working properly.
Thanks for compliment Blairweech...some of us still have a sense of humour, but we are all becoming a little paranoid about not offending each other so sense of humour may be next thing to bite the dirt!
Watching Giorgio Locatelli on Market Kitchen talking about Castelmagno cheese and have been searching to see if I can get some for Christmas...looks as if Italy is only source and probably too late, so will have to settle for pecorino Sardo to tickle my taste buds, like to treat myself to a little unusual cheese now and again.
Have been meaning all week to put the marzipan on Christmas cake, got readymade stuff in Lidl, will have to do it tomorrow, thinking about it is worse than actually doing it I find.
Still trying to get cards done...anything going farther than Europe went to-day, will need to get the rest done by Friday I think.
Hugs to all in any kind of strife, sleep well

You live in Ireland though don't you? That would explain it, you still have common sense and a GSOH over there!.
That's only half true Blairweech. Haribo lives in Scotland now, but left her common sense behind in Ireland:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: (But not at her sister Pink's house...)
B'weech, blinking police!! I have a tall skinny pasty looking friend who get searched going through airports - they think he's a drug smuggler. (He was threatened with a "rubber glove" experience once and he was livid!!) Actually he's a v.well off middle class engineer who doesn't indulge in illegal substances. But no, the authorities pick him out because of his appearance. You'd think they would know that criminals don't conform to whatever stereotypes they have in mind.
Churchie, what do you mean "they" had a nice lunch? Don't you mean "we"????:rotfl:
I've been watching the telly!! Sorry to sound as excited as a two year old, but I've not had a set for over three years. I saw Coronation St - missed three years, yet have already picked up most of the major plot lines from one half hour programme. I also watched How to Look Good Naked. OMG all those women standing around in their kecks and their boobs out, how incredibly brave of them!
[STRIKE] Tru[/STRIKE] Oops sorry, edit to say TWINK, thanks for your words regards my parents' dog. I've tried to encourage them to call the council, but they seem to think that the log they will have kept wouldn't be especially detailed - "when a council worker has seen one border collie dog they've seen them all" type attitude. And of course there will be no body available for them to view now. However they did put an ad in the local paper which is published today. Miracles do happen, so you never know. I've been looking at www.doglost.co.uk which gives some very very encouraging stories about lost dogs being reunited with their owners literally years after their disappearance. It's sickening though, this particular dog had never ever wandered before, so a bit of a mystery too as to why he went for walkies while his two mates stayed behind. I guess we'll never know the answer to that even if he does come back.
Night all, sleep well.

Didn't get to the post office today with my abroad cards. Must try tomorrow to get them off. Haven't written more tonight (just one for DGS3) as so stressed out. Really worried about what is in paper tomorrow!
