    JackieO (((hugs))) for gs
Kyle - hope your back improves asap.

Shez - Thanks for asking, sofa is very nice. It was just a cheap one from Argos but is lovely and comfortable. Am awaiting some new bits and pieces to be delivered for my front room as finishing touches - really need new curtains but wont have time to shop for them till the New Year.

Mate came to measure up the carpet today and we have chosed a really lovely mocha colour. It only works out at £260 fitted - wont be done before Xmas but straight after. We then decided we will throw some paint on the walls so plodded off to Focus and have got that so OH will be having a busy weekend.

House lovely clean and tidy but no paperwork done, think will spend an hour in the office tonight so dont feel quilty. In a mo oh will get the xmas decs out so we can get our tree up at last & hopefully start feeling christmassy. We have a Victorian Xmas Evening in a local town tomorrow so that should be very festive.

Think as we are decorating might have a buffet tea tonight.

Have a lovely evening & keep warm.

    Hi
We're off out in a moment to DD1's Guide's Xmas Family night. She's playing her sax in the talent comp and then we're all playing bingo! I went to work this morning and then I took her to her grade 3 music exam after lunch so she's had a busy time today.
I'm getting a teaching student after xmas and she came in today for a visit. She seems really keen and bright so hopefully she'll fit into our team and there won't be any problems. She's from Northern Ireland and her accent is lovely and I think one of my colleagues already fancies her! I might have to do some match making in the new year. ;)
My DD2's xmas show is on Friday and she's a dancing mouse! :rotfl:

Hope everyone is warm and happy and a big hug to hilstep.
  • Evening Guys!!

One of our chickens had to be put to sleep this afternoon as she was not in a good way. OH tried to explain but am totally useless in remembering, but I think it was something to do with the bit where the eggs come down and she had a hernia:confused: ...the other chooks had been pecking at her and caused a big open wound in her skin..I wont describe as it was gross. OH is really gutted and quite upset.

FIL/MIL gave us £50 for our anniversary pressy, so wondering what to spend the other £40 on as it cost us £10 to have the chook put to sleep as I didnt want OH to do it:eek:    , and at least we knew she was really quite poorly. Might start saving for a big pine chest of drawers I would like for the bedroom which is £250 but solid pine, deep and nearly the same height as me:confused: ...not sure though, just dont want it wasted!

DD is 13 tomorrow:eek:       she didnt want a party, just to go shopping with her mates which is fine by us. Think they are going for Pizzahut (buffet) and to watch a film too. Where has the last 13 years gone? We have got her some lovely bits (all mainly from Hotdeals and reduced lol)....huge book on animals, earings, notepad set, Impulse set, Little Brown Bag (mate bought back from USA $10), 2 x DVD's and a set of Jane Austin books in a boxset reduced to £5 in WHsmith. Most were paid with vouchers or points...god Im cheap:rotfl:

Ohh...OH & I have agreed that the heating needs to be on most of the time. We have agreed all day then through the night, off from 9-4. Normally up by 5.30-6.00, so will this give enough time to warm up, or should we just have on 24/7:confused:

Anyway, got to go and have a cup of tea.

    Hugs to all in need.

    PP

    Evening all,

Well I went on a big adventure today - I went to Plymouth on the train from Liskeard! I generally hate getting the train because I'm so afraid of getting the wrong train, missing my stop etc, but it was good - only £4.50 return (you would spend at least that for a days parking in Plymouth). Think thats what I will do from now on if I want to go to Plymouth.
Anyway, I had to go and schmooze the bank manager into increasing my OD - OH does not get paid until the middle of Jan, which left us a bit short for our rent at the start of the month, but he has increased my OD no probs so I am super happy! :j :j :j I will get it probably get it decreased again after Jan.

I only got one little stocking filler for OH, town is a bit rubbish really, there doesn't seem ot be that much choice.I was going to treat myself to some new slippers but it seems the only ones available were oversized knitted baby booties

Hope you all had a good day
Twink - the 'good old nativity' is no longer PC - it might offend children of other faiths

Pen Pin we have ours on 24/7 through the cold months
1/because of my joints hurting when cold
2/ old house with thick walls when it gets cold it takes a long time to really heat up
    3/ I really don't like being cold
it hasn't made any difference to the cost as it is on about 17 degrees all the time

  • PP - I am quite bad in that we have the heating on all day, I have it on a lower setting. I found that if I turned it off I had to turn it on high to get the house warmed up. British Gas man has been round my house a lot lately and he advised that was more cost effective to leave it on longer lower.

I do turn it off of a night but last night OH asked me to leave it on - he can come in anytime between 4am & 6am and has been freezing so I just turned it down lower.

I would see how you go and watch the meter to see if there will be a major increase in your bills. Forgot to say that most of our radiators have individual thermostats so the upstairs rads are lower than downstairs.

We do much the same with our heating except we turn it off at night once we're going to bed. Thermostats in the bedrooms are turned down anyway so the bedrooms don't get too hot. I don't like to worry too much about the cost..........just want to be warm.
Well, got very 'confused.com' trying to sort out quotes for house/contents insurance..............tried numerous places, ticked the boxes etc. came up with quotes very cheap then phone rings and a 'nice young man' phones to go through insurance quote with me so I have to go through it all over again. 'Cab you send me this so I can show OH?' says I 'No' says he.........lol
So, that was that..............then one of the kids starts rowing with girlfriend....again !! Tears from her, shouting from him. Phone rings, chip fryer on for tea..............cat brings a bird in !! I shout at cat, cat drops bird and I try to catch it to give it some freedom...............no chance !! It flew into the pantry.............nearly landed in chip fryer and ended up in the boiler room................other cat starts prowling about. Well, can't see the bird anywhere. Cats have given up and gone to sleep but no bird..........where is it ? Hiding behind cupboard ? Died of heart attack ? .........don't suppose I;ll ever know................just recovering from that and No.1 son phones and asks me if I'd like to speak to 6 month old grandson !!!!! What do you say to a baby over the phone ??????
I'm worn out now. OH is doing pork chops for me and him when he gets in from work (what a gem !!).............I still haven't done paperwork.........still not sorted out house insurance but did manage to wrap up final christmas pressie now I've got the batteries for it so off my list of 'stuff to do' I've ticked one box !!!! Maybe tomorrow ?????

    evening all,

been for the champagne tasting at vinopolis, it was great, a bit worse for wear, but a good day, but we had a terrible meal, I had a steak which was totally inedible and at £18 I was not prepared to pay for it, so just had a small starter of proscutio motzerella (sp) and fig for £10  , good job I was not paying. Will have a snack in a while.

Haribo the cards look great :T

pen pin sorry abour the chicken xx

    have a good evening all
