Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wed 12th Dec 07. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning everyone.
The usual routine of packed lunches and then off to work... Only 3 more work days left and then off on holiday
Nothing much to report today really. A little cheesed off that I cannot find any tins of Roses anywhere. Loads of others tins, but no roses. Poor ordering by supermarkets I recon.
Appart from that... nothing doing. I had stew for tea yesterday... Now that's exciting... Well I started the dalily thread anyway. Greetings to all who follow and hope you have a pleasant day...

Morning N9eav, and to all who follow.
Looks like great minds think alike N9eav as I started a thread for today as well. I'm sure Pink will use her magic finger to merge the two.
Regards the Roses, my Sainsbury's employers mentioned that there is some sort of problem with the big tins - they muttered something about their distributors not being able to get hold of them. Cadbury's did have a number of problems during the year, so maybe they have had to make some decisions about what products to produce the most supply of. There apparently might be some tins available next week, but don't bank on it.
bye

Hmmmph. I wanted to take several tins to USA on holiday with me. Now I am stuck with crappy Quality street. Yes should have bought earlier, but I was waiting to cash my Christmas penny jar in. never thought they would run out everywhere. PANTS.
Might try Woolies today.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
N9eav, you might have luck in places like CostCutters or Spar etc, a friend of mine got some Roses tins in one of these smaller supermarkets recently. There are the pouches of Roses available though they are a bit of a rip off compared to some of the deals around on tins. I'm sure with your Detective skills you'll find a plentiful supply somewhere.0

Morning N9EAV, MRS MIX, SNOWY and all.
N9EAV - I'm pretty sure I saw Roses in my local Co-op at the weekend so it might be worth trying your local store. It's not me buying them all up - I don't like the toffees and it seems that every year, there are more toffees and less soft-centres in both Roses and Quality Street. I like the Celebrations and I have also bought a tin of Toblerone which look lovely. I bet you are counting down the hours now until your holiday, aren't you?
MRSMIX - I hope your knee doesn't play you up today.Your op is still so recent, you must take it easy - easier said than done at this time of the year!
Well, DH has just gone - it's freezing out there but luckily, we covered his windscreen with the anti-frost sheet and it worked a treat. I picked some up from Peacocks for £3 each and they really do a good job. DS2 will come round later to pick his up, although last night I told him to put an old towel or sheet on the windscreen. I don't think it's quite as frosty as yesterday.
Today, I need to phone DS1 and DIL to see how they all are - the whole family was unwell yesterday and it's DGD's nativity play tomorrow so I hope they are all well enough for that.
I'm going to have a shower in a minute, then I shall take down the kitchen curtains for washing - they look decidedly dingy and are annoying me now. I shall tumble them on the 'iron dry' cycle then press them and rehang them.
Dinner is chicken casserole so I will prep that a bit later, and I'll make a rice pudding for afters. I must finish my Christmas cards today - I have several to post to Europe and the last day is tomorrow. I'm hoping to get a lot more wrapping up done, as well. I am going to go to the shops for a few bits and pieces and I still have half the ironing pile to be done so I think it will be quite a busy day today.
Well, off to have a shower so will call in on you all later.

Morning all
Hubby & I had a peaceful evening last night, the lodger went out, woo hoo. The only downside was this morning, she bought home an indian takeaway & is eating it for breakfast. Now I love indian food, but it's a bit much at 6 in the morning, lol.
Off to work in a while, every morning is chaos ATM, the mocks are on & so far not one staff member has got themselves organised & at the start of every exam some one rushes in, in a panic, as the don't have enough exam papers & some departments haven't got any at all & don't realise till the kids are sat ready!! We also have no heating in the Sports Hall where the exams are held & every year someone has to rush around organising it at the last minute. The exams are held every year in December & every year the school is taken by surprise by the need for heating. Are all schools run like this or is it just mine that is run by idiots?
I had to go & see the bursar yesterday to report a maintenance fault, she said 'It won't get done for a while, I'm not speaking to the facilities staff'. I'm afraid I lost my temper & told her I expected that behaviour from the kids, but not the staff, so I'm due to be hauled over the coals today. Ah well.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Hugs Hester

Morning :santa2:
Not frosty here today, but feels very cold, so have put my hat and gloves on the radiator for when I walk the dog
Sold loads on Ebay last night, I love Christmas, some things were going for lots more than I expected, I just have loads of pack and wrap which will have to wait until tomorrow as I am working today.
Sausage casserole in the slow cooker, and then will pop jacket potatoes into the microwave while we walk the dog later.
Hugs to anyone feeling down :grouphug:You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
morning all,
severe frost here this morning car is thick with it, kathy if your hubby is here today, I hope he has got his two hats on, its VERY cold.
Off to London today for the xmas do at work champagne tasting (i'm not going to spit it out) and then lunch so should be a good day, we have got a quick shove in the oven pizza for tea, I always feel I have cheated when we eat like this, but its only once in a while.
DD is off to her nan's for the night tonight, so that will save me getting up too early.
Will have a quick swipe round before work, only a small bit of washing to do which will wait till tomorrow, bins out today.
N9eav, they had Roses in my local Scumerfield,
DLB hope your 'mary' is a complete star xx
Mrs-Mix take it easy with your knee xx
Hester, good luck at work xx
Have good days all xx0
