Can't send SMS to short numbers from ASDA PAYGO phone.

I have recently signed up to a medical service where I have to send my blood pressure figures to a 5 digit number, or reply to that SMS from a 5 digit number but I cannot send these SMS.
I have a Samsung A12 Android 11 smart phone on ASDA PAYGO and while I can send SMS to normal phone numbers I cannot send SMS to these 5 digit numbers.
I have searched the internet for a solution and been through all the permission settings, at least I think I have, but to no avail and come to the conclusion that it is because I have a PAYGO sim.
Does anyone know of a solution or will I have to get another sim from a different provider and pay a monthly charge?

If you've got sufficient credit then I can't see why a PAYG sim alone means you can't text these numbers.
There is a post from 2017 saying that Asda mobile don't support the service, so you could contact Asda and check if that is still the case.

Otherwise open settings, search premium, tap special access, tap use premium text message service, what is it set to? Tap messages to change.
I also have a Samsung phone and the above is how I found the setting.0 -
I have that setting set to always ask and there is more than £11 credit on my account.0

after 5 calls to asda mobile speaking to an "expert" changing various settings I am still not able to call short numbers to send sms.
I tried a different asda mobile phone, a Nokia 1 this time, different sim, this did not send the message, but when I got a friend on o2 the message went through no problem, so it must be a problem with asda. network.
Any other paygo sims that have calls at 4p a minute and I just need to put credit on when I need it?0 -
Try these for some suggestions:

I was payg, very light user for 20 years but changed to a £5 monthly sim contract in January.
Unlimited calls, texts and a few GB data.
Been very happy paying such a small sum monthly for the convenience of unlimited use.0 -
I have Plusnetmobile SIM, they do not support sending texts to short-code numbers, and they specifically say so in their T&C's. Upsets a lot of people.
So, not just Asda.0 -
What is going on?
Last Tuesday I sent one text to the short number, yesterday I sent a text in the morning but I couldn't send one in the evening.
It seems random whether I can send a text or not.

Are you still on ASDA mobile or is this problem w/ another service?
Just used my ASDA SIMmed mobile to enter a competition by sending a text to 86060. Text confirmed by return and PAYG balance debited 2 quid. So that works.
How does this differ from your short code sending problem?0 -
I've just tried it with my "1p Mobile" phone and it isn't allowing me to send either. It won't send at all using the short code which is a standard text rate one and which I've used no problem several times before. I then tried one which has £1.50 cost in addition to the standard text rate, and it seemed to send, but I got a message back saying I'm unable to use the service and I need to contact my mobile provider. Very frustrating, as 1p Mobile has introduced the £2.50 minimum spend from this month and as I'm under it, thought I'd enter a competition to use up a chunk (otherwise 1p Mobile just takes the money anyway). If they've just introduced this change to stop people doing that I'll be pretty mad, as it just means they're keeping my money themselves rather than letting me use it!!0

Just repeated the short SMS test above using 1p Mobile. Worked just fine.
Not sure what this all proves other than I am now certain to win the Range Rover.0 -
After nearly 4 weeks Asda mobile have still not been able to fix this problem.
Who can I complain to other than Asda mobile who seem to have given up on this problem?
Whenever I call them I am told to email, whenever I email I get a standard reply they are looking into it then nothing.
