Can't send SMS to short numbers from ASDA PAYGO phone.

    After nearly 4 weeks  Asda mobile  have still not been able to fix this problem.

    Who can I complain to other than Asda mobile who seem to have given up on this problem?

    Whenever I call them I am told to email, whenever I email I get a standard reply they are looking into it then nothing.
     

    Have you tried contacting them via twitter? I believe their 'contact us' facility goes straight to UK head office.

    There isn't a problem, that is how Asda mobile is set up. They, and some other operators such as Plusnet, restrict short sms codes to specific numbers (as they see fit) and that is unlikely to change in the short term.

    Their standard response of looking into it is just that, a standard response so don't expect anything to be done.

    If you want to use short code numbers for sundry sms messages then you will need to change to a different service provider. Just don't consider Plusnet.

    I can send a text to Planet Radio's cash register and be charged £2.04 for it but I can't reply to a text with my blood pressure to a free number.

    Asda use the Vodafone network. If they offered all the same features as Vodafone but at a lower price then users would leave Vodafone in droves. 

    They allow Asda to piggyback off their network but restrict certain features to justify the higher costs imposed on Vodafone users. 
  • I don't know what was done but I sent a complaint to Asda mobile and although I have not had a reply I have been able, for the past 2 weeks, to send send a sms to the short code number
  • I have the same problem.
    To send money to DEC (Disaster Emergency Committee) for Turkey-Syria Earthquake via their official 70787 text/SMS number
    I put £30 on my ASDA Pay-As-You-Go (backup) 3G mobile using an e-Topup card (Top-ups only possible in ASDA shops)
    but now
    a) All my texts to 70787 FAIL, even with the correct key word "DONATE" as confirmed by DEC email help 
    b) My PAYG SIM will die in 2023 as ASDA is using VODAPHONE who are giving up 3G for 4G & 5G
    so my £30 will be disappear. What a waste!

    If this is a problem that still persists it may be worth contacting your network provider.
