I think hospitals are hard to be in alone full stop. Well done.

    Evening all 😃

I have achieved so little today 😂 Basically I just put one load of washing away, washed another load and went to Tesco for a very small top up shop. Also bought three of the big storage boxes so we can get the Christmas decs a bit more organised. I really needed a quiet day, or as quiet as it can be with a toddler around!

I'm just going to order some dog food so I can at least cross something off my list! I've got yet another medical appointment tomorrow so I think I'll get an early night with my kindle.

You've thought about getting organised - I know from experience how exhausting even that can be :D:D:D

Thinking about it is so much easier than doing it though! DH put floorboards down in the loft last week so we can start putting some of our !!!!!! away. It's not a big space though so things need a bit of a massive cull.

Is your loft empty at the moment? Perhaps mark all the boxes with a date of when put up there and a date to be disposed of - if still unopened at that date - and keep a list... We got some stuff out of our loft that was ruined by being up there so long - and I really regretted that we hadn't donated it while it was in better condition.

Yes totally empty! We have a third bedroom on the top floor inside the room basically so the loft is a long low space under the eaves. It’s not the most useful space and we will mostly fill it with Christmas decs and a lot of baby stuff! We’re keeping everything at the moment but if we don’t need it in a couple of years I will sell it all on. I’m 37 this year so…

We have a few boxes of stuff we’re keeping for sentimental reasons but I will sort through this before we put it away. I’m pretty ruthless about getting rid of stuff! DH really needs a garage though - he’s a builder and a musician and comes from a family of hoarders…

That's quite a contrast between you. I may come from the latter too

We sorted out our attic when we moved. I am definitely of the "we might need that" variety. But an elderly friend said to me recently that she doesn't keep anything as when she dies it becomes her son's problem and that's not fair. And that actually got me thinking. I know it's a bit morbid and I have absolutely no plans to pop my clogs just yet, it is a mindset that has helped me declutter. Does my husband need the extra stress of going through all my !!!! if I die? No he does not. So we now have one storage box full of DD's sentimental things and one full of DS's sentimental things. So things like the outfit they wore home from hospital when they were born, their fave toy as a baby, first school pictures, etc. Nothing major but sentimental things they may like to see when they are adults.

I think keeping a sentimental box for every member of the family is a good idea. They can decide what to do with it in due course. You then make the container the limit on how much you want to keep and if you want to put new stuff in - you cull some of the other stuff.
