I was quite worried about my NHS dentist because I remember signing an agreement a few years ago which basically said if you miss more that one 6 monthly appt you were gone. Last time I went it was almost 2 years. Nov before lockdown to Oct last year so 23 months. They have now kept my son's at 6 monthly but changed mine to 12 monthly. I am assuming I am a lost cause!

I pay private but at least the cost is predictable. Hard to get NHS dentist especially nowAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Dentistry seems to be in a mess doesn't it? I was on yearly appointments too @badmemory but had to have fissure fillings when I was pregnant so they suggested 6 months from then on. Then covid happened and they closed without telling anyone.
I think we will stay private for the time being @savingholmes as I can't even find a phone number to get on the nhs waiting list! I'm not sure about the payment plan yet though - do you pay monthly? I need to find out how much regular check ups are first as they unsurprisingly omitted that information in their leaflet! I'm going to get a veneer on a discoloured tooth as I've become more self-conscious about it after regular zoom meetings!MFW diary Adventures and Overpayments

We're having a quiet morning at home today as DD has a cold and is teething. She's basically just in a really bad mood so I decided to avoid our baby class this morning. We had an epic tantrum outside the childminder's house when I picked her up yesterday and I can't face another public one today
DD had the tantrum, not me - in case anyone was confused
We're still doing pretty well with our spending this month. The few extra things I've bought have been necessary - ink cartridges, place mats to protect our table from DD's fork! I have about £70 of appointments next week but hoping we should get to the end of the month with some money left. If we manage it, DH and I have decided to treat ourselves to lunch out and a trip to the cinema (the first since January 2020) to see Death on the Nile. Just hoping our MIL will have DD one sunday for us.
I am really busy with work which is good and DH is doing some more decorating for my mum. My mum insists on paying him the going rate (we let her think it's the going rate but he doesn't add on any extras) because she knows he would be doing private work elsewhere if he wasn't doing it for her.
Last night I applied to switch both of our old current accounts to a new bank for the 2 x £150 bonus so hopefully that all goes smoothly.
I've been having a real think about why my mood, energy levels and motivation are quite low at the moment and I think it's probably a combination of things as always. The weather has been cold but bright and sunny yesterday and today and i immediately feel more hopeful. The thing is that life is actually quite good at the moment. We have enough money and if we are careful and continue to focus on earning what extra money we can, we can afford to go on holiday so we have things to look forward to. I need to stop regretting things that haven't gone the way I had hoped and focus on what we have now.
A bit of a rambling post today!
Hope everyone can see a bit of sun or at least daylight today 🙂MFW diary Adventures and Overpayments

This may not help but it seems to help me. Check what kind of lights you have downstairs. If they are warm white try changing them for cool white, sometimes called daylight except I don't think those are quite as clear as cool white. I think bedroom ones are best left warm white as they are more relaxing. I've also changed my bathroom ones to cool white & what a difference. Of course a lot of my problems could be age related, but this not the first time I'v noticed the difference.3

Hi chicken. Kids can be exhausting at the best times. Tantrums can easily tip anyone over. Be kind to yourself.
Hope you get to the film. Sounds like it will do you goodAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi Chicker, just catching up on diaries and wanted to say feeling much in the same boat. Think it's a combination of hormones, getting older, post Covid dip/ time of year but made a real effort to be a bit kinder to myself after a busy January and it seems to be helping.
Hope you got to the film and things are going ok.

Ooh hello visitors! Thanks for commenting 🙂
@badmemory I can imagine that makes loads of difference but we have those awful downlighters in every room of our house so it would mean changing 6+ lights per room. Definitely something to think about if we ever more though!
@savingholmes oh yes the tantrums can definitely tip me over the edge! She's not been too bad this week but just not very agreeable. She's exploring what happens when she refuses to do what we want...
@smetf I think hormones and time of year are big factors for me right now. Someone pointed out that my hormones will be all over the place as I stopped breastfeeding over Christmas. Also I just feel better when the weather is dry - it doesn't even have to be sunny, but if it's dry enough to go out for a walk it makes me feel so much better! Well done for being kind to yourself ❤

Sorry I've not been posting more regularly - but there hasn't been a lot going on over here to talk about, financial or otherwise. We're just plodding along trying not to spend too much.
We haven't been to the cinema yet but will probably go the weekend after next. We've booked soft play for Saturday which is a bit extravagant at £16.95 for DH (I've got a season ticket and DD is free) but if it's not too horrible we can go and see the animals in the attached wildlife park as well.
Financial news:
Our new accounts are open and I just need to get the money transferred and DH set up on the app to qualify for the switching bonuses.
I spent ages trying to close my old credit card today but the stupid phone system kept starting me back at the beginning again. After three attempts I gave up. This is why it takes me so long to do things on my list. Why is nothing ever simple?!
I've withdrawn £33 from £co which I will add to my 'extra income' pot when it arrives.
I'm feeling a bit nervous about this storm tomorrow. I don't think I can remember any other red weather warnings for this area? Everything is shut and cancelled and I'm worried about DH going to work. He has to secure a building site at a secondary school where they are doing a new roof...
Hope everyone is OK!

I've been trying to correct my mobile number on British Gas for 2 weeks now. I'm sure everything takes 10 times as long as it used to. I'm sure I couldn't have dealt with all this rubbish before I retired.
