Oh Missy. I really do feel for you trying to budget when everything is so up in the air all of the time.
I don't envy you trying to spend £10 for the weekly shop though. Prices seem to be going up everyday in the supermarkets!!1 -
Oh I know @RelievedSheff it is absolutely crazy at the moment. Every time I go in lidl or Tesco things have gone up, pasta that was 29p is now 41p! I’m back on my60g of porridge with some peaches in for breakfas. Which is the cheapest meal I can think of.Trying to think of what to do for dinner, think I might just make OH an omlette and I’ll just have cereal and I’ll plan better for tomorrow, I did have (the biggest!) lunch provided by ad hoc work today so I won’t be going hungry any time soon.
Trying to think of meals for the week. Will come back when I’ve got something realistic.1 -
So tonight is carbonara as have those ingredients, I spent £2.45 on lidl earlier, on honey, bread, digestives and squash. I will pop in again tomorrow and get:
milk
bread
Toothpaste
chopped tomatoes x 2
beans X 2
Peanuts
Frozen peas
showergel
all for hopefully under £7.55
Still trying to work out a meal plan have a loose one in my head.3 -
Sausage and lentil casserole x2
Enchiladas x1
Bacon Stew x 2
Bacon, pea and butternut risotto x 2
Bacon pasta bake x1

So to make everything stretch as long as possible. I’ve got a little bit of cheese so
i going to bulk that out with carrots and cucumber for the children's lunch’s. I have just enough yoghurts and I managed to take the flapjacks and left over fruit from work. So that’s sorted.I’ve got 2 eggs left over from last week. Going to be as frugal as possible.2 -

Thanks so much @Makingabobor2 i have indeed got the olio app, I’ve checked it 3 times today but nothing in my area. I’ve asked for stuff in the past but it’s already gone. There are things, but they’re a good 20 mins away so I can’t really justify 40 min round trip with fuel being as expensive as it is.1

Morning, Missy. Olio isn't very good where I live either. Your meal plan looks good. I'm sorry you are so stressed by everything right now. Sending big cyber hugs 🤗🤗🤗Live the good life where you have been planted.

@missymoo81- are you planning on grating the cheese and carrots? If not then I'd suggest you do! It will go much further. If you mix it with a little mayo then you won't need to put any spread on the bread either as it will be moist enough. Then just thinly slice the cucumber to add to it so it's still got a bit of bite to it.

Hey @Elisheba thanks for popping by. I’m catching up on your thread at the moment I seem to be a few pages behind. Sounds like you’ve had a tough old time the last few weeks or so too, so a hug going right back to you.
Feeling a little apprehensive. This time last year we had a lot of customers Cancel, because of life change after covid and cost etc. We thought we would be ok this year but so far over the last week or so, including already this morning we have had a lot of cancellations. It’s so much money when that happens that we lose when I add it all up. I know it’s the cost of living and because people are feeling the pinch. And I don’t blame them but it’s so hard. I know OH is going to wake up and see the latest cancellation and not be very happy about it, and worried. He also had a days work cancelled today due to someone else being ill. It’s so hard, a week or so ago we were talking about how we’d found a happy medium and we’re riding the storm. But I think this is going to feel quite a lot like a big smack in the face. ‘Sigh’Need to go to lidl and need to get the children from school. I’ve really missed them. I’ll try and tie the journey in with going to the business as it will save on fuel rather than going backwards and forwards.Trying to think of ways we are continuing and have been cutting down.Right now the tv would be on playing in the back ground but I realised I was actually reading and not watching it so I’ve turned it off, there are no lights on. I need to do some washing but that will be at 20 degrees and dried inside on the clothes horse. I’m going to use my slow cooker on low for dinner. I have set up a new Nectar card as we’ve been getting fuel from Sainsburys as it’s cheapest so am getting some points back from that. Have also set up my Clubcard so that we can also use that more easily for fuel. I’m currently being kept warm by a big duvet on the sofa and cats. Which is always a pleasure.2
