We recently discovered this sandwich filling as well. Love it.cocalls said:
Love reading your diary. We call this filling cheese savoury up north, grated cheese, grated carrots, chopped onion in mayo. It makes the cheese go further and is my fave sandwich filling!missymoo81 said:Oooh thank you @joedenise I was indeed going to grate it but I didn’t think about mixing it with Mayo!
A cheap and tasty way of making cheese go further.1 -
I'm not keen on mayo, but I might try that with salad creme.Live the good life where you have been planted.

I’ve had a lot going on this week. Family member has had a C word diagnosis so not the best news but it’s treatable. I’ve had a bad cold and Chest this week so not been myself. Have stuck to budget more or less, although spends budget has taken a huge hammering as have had to buy Xmas jumpers for school trips etc. but it’s still got money in it so it’s ok so far. Am going to try and spend £30 on food next week and see how I do, have put it into the Tesco app and it’s just over but I need to think about dinners.Hope you’re all ok, I’m all wrapped up in my duvet and dressing gown on the sofa.I think I may paint tomorrow. I would love to paint my whole kitchen cabinets but I don’t think that’s going to happen and the walls will have to do! I may see if I can get a spray paint for the fruit bowl (outside of it) and the utensil pot etc to tie in the colour. I’ll have a think.0

Wondering if I can stretch 500g of mince to make shepherds pie for 4, chilli for 6 and spaghetti bolognaise for 4 turned into cheesy pasta bolognese for 4…… erm…… thinking it is probably a little too optimistic!0

Just found some things on olio but it’s an hour round trip. so not really money saving! Rather frustrating.0

At least they are showing up, but yes an hour round trip kind of defeats the idea. Keep checking as hopefully there will be one closer to home soonMe, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 15, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/190

So sorry to hear about your family member. Sending you all positive thoughts and hugs. x
Try stretching the mince by adding lentils or tinned kidney beans or even diced veg of any sort, that's what I do.Making the debt go down and savings go up

Sorry to hear about your family member.
We stretch mince out with Pearl barley. Works a treat and is very filling. We normally use 50/50 but I dare sat you could get away with a leaner mix as that still tastes very meaty.0 -
We have chilli one night padded out with lentils and grated carrot then the leftovers get made into a lasagne (don’t need much of the mince)Sealed pot challenge 822

Thanks for all the suggestions. Usually I’d make one 500g pack last for about 6 portions of chill but serve with rice. I’m just thinking of ways to make it go further.
